Well the Spy Changer is only supposed to be her shrunken down to conserve energy. And the battle mode is like one of those temporary super modes. It'd be weird for TOXIC energon to basically make somebody be in super saiyan all the time.

At least half of the designs for the McDonald's guys do look like they could be reworked into decent enough Legends class figures. There are some molded details of interest on a good number.

you could make it work. Have her lower legs made up folded up panels that will comprise her ray wings, with the foot being on a ratchet attached inside the leg.
To transform her, you fold her head into her chest, open up the legs into the manta wings, then collapse her waist up into the chest. Her knees would be double jointed to facilitate the transformation, and just curl up onto the back and lock into place at the shoulder.
Boom, manta ray. If you wanted to get technical, you could have her arms fold up onto her back and fill out the gap between the two ray wings to smooth things out, otherwise they can just fold up into her sides to get out of the way.
Now you have a nice looking, low kibble transformer in both modes while still having nice sized (and articulated) manta ray wings.
Mind you, she'd need pretty long shins to counterbalance the thickness to have good proprtions...

I'm not sure if the transformation would actually work like this, but looks like it would. And seems the gills+tail backpack would be able to be used as a weapon as well.
I'm pretty much on board to buy the Constructicon elbow kits, but not sure if I want the set with the vehicle and combiner mode parts, the prowlstator head is dumb and makes me wish they omitted it or packed a fucking regular devy alt head.

Some of them like Ultra Prime and Defensor are entertaining. Hot Spot is great and worth having by himself. The rest are so-so.
If you want to lavish more money on them the Perfect Effect add on kits remove a lot of their issues, and the Ultra Prime/Menasor one is a godsend. Also nice to have a Menasor that doesn't cost hundreds of freedom bucks.

Only issue is that Scrapper's elbows are tabbed in VERY securely because it's load-bearing. You need to have at least 5 year's experience in executing the heimlich maneuver in order to unlock those fancy new elbows.

It's pretty good. Theres a lot of repaints in the line (but what line isn't saturated with them?), but in general, they're all pretty solid figures, with nice, G1 updates to some of the most fondly remembered toys/characters in Transformers.
Superion is the best overall, Defensor is in the middle, and Menasor is the lowest ranking since he has some stability issues (older versions of Motormaster have bad hips, and even the fixed hips versions are still top heavy, leading to it taking a bit of paitence to pose him properly). They're still all great figures, well done, and cheap as fuck compared to any of the 3rd party shit.

I don't really care for the prowl head but the arms, replacement scoop and crane are pretty cool. Though I should have specified when I said the 5 PE add ons. No doubt his choice was influenced by Megatron's initial Earth mode.

Its a custom, had to cut the original, pasted a 5mil port and adaptad Tomahawk's rotor, now the blades can be used on any 5 mil port as a weapon, also changed the cockpit to make him look different to AB using the minicon from Armada Cyclonus, still need to work on the paint tho.

All he really needs is a little more outward shoulder movement, and it doesn't look too hard to make cuts in his shoulder balljoints cups to give him more of a range. Stopped at Walmart today on the way home from an unsuccessful trip to get some good shit, and while depressed as fuck, finally spotted the Hot Spot I've been hunting for three fucking months.
God damn he's good, leagues ahead of Prime/Menasor. Honestly works better for me as a standalone robot than a torso, easily best in the line.
One problem though, mine's left leg has an issue. The peg that holds the thigh up in combined mode is slack as hell, and I can't figure out how to go about fixing it, since it's just a tiny friction peg and thickening it with polish or glue won't really do much against the leg sorta pulling apart horizontally. Anybody had this issue?

Well that's annoying I got Onslaught and the team for Christmas and my Onslaught has one paint app missing on his leg that shows in combiner mode(the silver and purple stripes)
My old plan was just to buy a fresh one and either have the team twice over (one set combined other set separated) but with this new found news Im not stuck on what to do.
Any one have tips on how to get paint off figures? Ive never done it and the silver purple paint looks well applied.

Get testors or tamiya paint, remember to thin it and apply carefully, or just turn Bruticus legs so the paint parts go to the inside hiding the details.

Every time I see this leg setup, I can't figure it out. When I see the Hotspot mold doing it, they've swapped the legs right off the mushroom joints and I can't do that without feeling like I'm going to shatter something. Is it just the lack of the crane arm on Bruticus that allows for this?

Required as far as I'm concerned. As weapons, the hands are great but the feet kinda suck for anything but the beefier torso and look generally slightly more retarded than the default weapons in alt mode.
That being said, they lengthen the shins to make every single combiner look more properly proportioned and allow them to really stand. My Menasor just collapsed due to his tiny tiny footprints and lack of an ankle tilt. The upgrade kits fix it and allow the combined forms way more stability if nothing else

The problem with the feet is they're held together only by friction, there's nothing locking them together. They're best off glued together.
I'm thinking of buying the Combaticons. I've heard lots of horror stories about the individual combaticons, but as one who didn't buy any Protectobots or Arielbots, how's CW Bruticus himself?

I bought 3 of them so far (white, black, purple) for Superion/Defensor/Menasor. Will be getting one for Bruticus as well whenever they come out.
They're great. I love the look of the chainguns, but then again, I've loved chainguns since Wolfenstein was new. The hand rifles are decent. The hands are good for holding damn near anything but Legends Shockwave due to his 2nd peg, but you can sort of get him to be held straight if you fiddle with it long enough.
The feet are good, but you've got to mind the ball joints a bit when posing since it's possible to flop your combiner over if you're careless, which is mostly seen with-You guessed it-Menasor, because he's the top heavy motherfucker and hardest to balance when doing action poses.

I've seen people talk of this, but even my Menasor, the big fat fuck he is, with all the addons, doesn't make his feet split or having any problems other than what I've described above.
The Combaticon's in my experience are good. They all had somewhat loose legs though, but a bit of futureshine fixed that. Dunno why the legs were loose, none of the others I own of those molds were except Rook. My Brawl's right arm pin is also a bit loose-He'll hold weapons up straight, but if i shake him it flops right down. Tried futureshine, but uh...I dunno if I did it right for a pin joint. My UW Motormaster has a similar problem, his right arm pin joint is loose and I can't seem to futureshine it right to get it to tighten. Gonna have to keep trying until I can figure out the best way to do this.

They actually fixed that, I got 2 of them and they actually lock by clips especially on the middle. You can always do that since I personally use mine just as hands and feet and when they're not in combined mode I just put them to the side.
I'm pretty excited for the hands and gun upgrades for Devastator though but I'm still getting the UW whenever I can just because I want 2 Devastators.

I have the violet, white, and black sets for the three combiners.
The ball joints for the ankles have decent tightness, but is not enough to hold the weight of the whole combiner.
I had to add some floor polish to tighten it more.
The feet also have the tendency to split a bit. Also, while the ankle joints help, the feet also slip, making posing difficult.
It's best to place the combiner on a surface that has more friction, like a cutting mat, or a piece of paper.
I just learned that G1 predaking has waist articulation. Awesome!

I actually use these rubbery pads for, uh, I dunno what they're really for, but they hold figures in place really well. They look like a mesh almost, and I find them at local dollar stores. However, I had to put some cloth over them, as I found it they'll stick to the silver paint on my Superion PE feet chainguns. Which means one of my feet now has this sticky shit on it that I can clean off with some effort.
Basically, just make sure you put your toys on a surface with a bit of grip to it and all will be fine. Smooth or slick stuff is a recipe for slippage.
