Punch and Hexatron are pretty decent, the third is a simplified Hercules, a bit too much simplified, all the individual bots lost articulation but what really dissapointed me was the swich from ratchets to balljointed hips, I gues "you get what you pay".
Perfect Effect upgrades for CW Menasor are pretty ace, got them in today.
Stopped by a Target after work today and they had all the Combaticons sans Onslaught and I passed on them mainly because Onslaught wasn't there and hasn't been spotted in brick-n-mortar yet.

Hi again, asking for more feedback.
So I got takeoff, brawl and swindle the other day, given brawl and take off to galvatronus to complete his team (after hearing they'll make a running change to brawl I'd thought I'd treat this brawl as a separate character), with swindle going to my black power prime, I'm still having a hard time working out who to get for him unless I rope in offroad and buy a hasbro airraid...
But my question isn't about my own personal meme or aspergo here, no its about bruticus, see I want the UW release, but I got 3 of the 5 members on hand, I also want the g2 bruticus but that's for another day.
So, should I be a cheap ass and put up with take off and be happy with a mostly g1 toy accurate bruticus, or should I just stick with the 3 I got and get the UW?
Another question, would grey chest onslaught be worthy of selling off later seeing how the running change will put him out of circulation thus increasing desire levels?
Off topic, galvatronus seems shorter than optimus maximus and I haven't fan modded him at all, strange, defensor is a manlet though

Has anyone compiled a list of spots on UW Devs that might be susceptible to breakage? As someone whose hands occasionally go the ham route, I'd like to know where to be careful before an ankle tilt cracks.

Very much so, depending on what though it can have some consequences, much like defensor.
UW defensor has groove, and a nicer blue, but as per show he doesn't have the striped mechanical detail, but without retooling hotspot they look...unfinished as a result.
If they smothed those sections over I'd sell my hasbro set in a heart beat and chase one down, oh well.

Well they are retooling Dead End as Chromedome, so don't see why they wouldn't make more to Headmasters.
Just completed Bruticus. I never had the Onslaught mold before but I think it's pretty meh overall. Robot mode and vehicle mode don't feel super fantastic, but Bruticus mode I feel is were it really shines.
I think he just might be the best combiner to come out of CW. He's the most sturdy, and has the best Legends figure to go with him. That spot would have been given to Blackjack, but he doesn't get it as he sucks at staying in place. And Shockwave at least is a decent combiner weapon.
And while Brawl kind of stinks, none of his problems are evident in Bruticus.
Bruticus should have been released over Optimus Maximus, or whatever that thing is. It felt like forever to get this guy.

I've been saying for a long time that what TF needed deeply was a revival of the scout class, and it seems we've finally got something of a test-run for that... and it's ended up a mixed bag.
These figrues are scaled-up versions of the legends class figures, with more articulation and SLIGHTLY more complicated transformations [like, one or two minor steps]. This is not necessarily bad, but in some cases like Prime [pictured here], the altmode has suffered in the looks department, and for some like Grimlock it's affected the robot mode in some not very nice ways.
What do you think, /toy/? Is scout class a good thing? How would it best be used?

So I'm thinking about the Combaticons and how outside Swindler, NONE of them have any real depth to them character-wise save for being "Decepticon renegades who spent god knows how long in a hellish state of disembodied sensory deprivation until Starscream liberated them/gave them new bodies. So why not create some new personalities/backstories for them?
Onslaught: Military strategist/general who got "boxed" when he screwed up a planned assault ordered by Megatron that would have gotten his people senselessly killed. Basically a super daddy type team leader, who serves as a father to his men and who's loyalty is to keeping his underlings alive as opposed to needlessly risking their lives for the Decepticon cause.
Brawl: Jerk jock killing machine who got "boxed" after he mouthed off to Megatron when Megatron was pouting because it looked like someone else had killed Optimus Prime and got his head crushed. After being revived by Starscream, he's still an asshole and barely tolerated by the others. Hates Megatron and is in league with Ratbat in terms of being his muscle whenever Ratbat needs a thug to back up his schemes.
Blast-Off: Sniper who just wants to be left alone and who joined the Decepticons because he could kill people. Got "boxed" because he kept disappearing from his various squads whenever he felt like it.
Vortex: Partner of Swindle; a master "social engineering" con artist, he knows all the right questions and scams to trick people into giving up information so he can scam them. He got "boxed" alongside Swindle after a con job of them got found out by a not to thrilled superior officer, so that is how both got "boxed".

Some of those work with the canon personalities in terms of not being THAT far off.
Though I have to say that the Onslaught and Vortex ones >>5357102 are actually more interesting variations. Swindler having a partner in crime is more fun than having a generic interrogator and the idea that Onslaught is the Decepticon version of Chance Kelly's character from Generation Kill, is a nice twist and far more interesting in terms of dynamics and make him the opposite of Motormaster, who's a evil bully who runs the Stunticons through bullying and intimidation.
Plus it would explain how come Bruticus is smarter than most combiners: they all basically like each other (even Brawl) and due to Onslaught being a bro-tier leader, don't hesitate in gesalt mold to follow his orders.

I thought the canon version of Bruticus was dumb as rocks, hence why he's more effective when following orders than acting on his own.
Still, it would be a nice twist on the Combaticons, and could be interesting characters in a different continuity.
Could twists on other combiner members be useful? For example...
Break Neck , the Wild Rider: horribly addicted to body modifications, grafting other parts to his body, which slowly eroded away his mind and made him more eratic.
Dead End: more of a psychological bully, putting down others with droning of hopelessness.

Motormaster: Ex Cybertronian cop who Orion Pax/Optimus Prime got fired for being so fucking evil, bullying and terrorizing the civilians, that not even the ultra corrupt as fuck Senate could tolerate having him on the payroll. He's had a deep seeded hatred of Orion/Optimus ever since and joined the Decepticons out of spite.
Drag Strip: Ruthless racer and rival to Blurr; a Decepticon sleeper agent, he recruited for the Decepticons using his fame until he got outed and had to go on the run. Basically the only Stunticon with the balls to stand up to Motormaster, causing the two to be arch rivals for control over the Stunticons.
Wildrider: Disturbed mental patient who was let loose when the civil war started. Only comfortable in his vehicle mode, riding around like a maniac. Uses "Break Neck" as an alias sometimes. Was bullied into joining the Stunticons by Mototmaster.
Dead End: Horribly depressed pessimist with a death wish; joined the Decepticons simply because he thought it would be a great way to die. His longing for death pisses Motormaster off, because Dead End does not care one bit if Motormaster beats him or threatens to kill him if he does not obey him.
Breakdown: Paranoid artist who was tormented by Sentinel Prime's secret police for speaking out against Sentinel's regime. Joined the Decepticons for protection; he is Motormaster's favorite victim, in part because he is BFFs with Drag Strip.
Offroad: Asshole thug hired to serve as a replacement for any of the Stunticons if they should die or be injured or captured. Has it out for Wild Ride, who he feels is not worthy of being a Stunticon. Ironically gets along great with Motormaster, as the two are a pair of asshole bully boys.
