News:
>Kotobukiya is making reproduction kits for Arnval and Strarf based on new Machineca (マシニーカ) bodies designed by Apsy.
>Plastica.jp will sell blank bodies once he's happy with the final design.
>Megami Device (メガミデバイス) is another proposed line using that new body, so they'll be compatible too. They could be GKs, model kits, or figures. Too soon to know.
>Frame Arms Girl continues with an unarmored kit plus the architect is up next, with another mech on the way.
>Blade teamed up with Megahouse to make some cheaper, 8cm tall 1:1 battle robot figures called Desktop Army. Their plan includes 3d printable add-ons to appeal to customizers.
tldr it's a good time to be a Shinkifag.

Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid Latvia.
>Mandarake - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images (they sometimes get mixed up).
>Yahoo Japan Auctions - same kanji as above, you'll need a proxy, try Noppin or FromJapan.
>Taobao - search 武装神姬 and use a proxy like Taobaoring, Taoboafocus, or Bhiner.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned. They tend to sell fast.
>Check the BST, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World for sales.

Bully me too PLANELEGS-san!!!
>>
>>5284202
You know, most of the time I hate the exact same humor in other mediums, but I crack up over Planelegs.

Because you can see he's not actually fucking up his toys, and to have these figures and them not actually break down over time means he actually puts a ton of care into when he makes these comics.

In short, Planelegs loved shinki. He just also loved fucked up humor.

What do we actually know about the new Arnval and Strarf? Are they going to be complete redesigns like the mk.2s were, updates of original designs or literally the original design on the non-MMS body? I've been wanting an Arnval mk.2 for a while and I'm wondering if it is better to wait for the new one to be released or just grab the mk.2 off Mandy.
>>
>>5286154
the original designs, in kit form, using a machineca derived body instead of MMS. with a degree of backwards compatibility that suprised APSY, since he didn't specifically aim for it.
>>
>>5286214

>kit form

So we'd have to paint them and shit? Fuck that.
>>
>>5286263
being koto, the difficult parts at likely to be prepainted, if the FA line is any example. moreover, we don't know just how much is up to the end user to assemble.

ultimately tho, it's koto. most of their stuff looks fine without being painted, as long as you're not being lazy about nubs and whatnot.
>>
>>5284197
She has two heads that are 99% identical. One has a very slight smile, the other a more neutral mouth. You can barely tell the difference up close.
>>
>>5286263

I want new material or at least the previous shinki's never released in some type of form.

Random advice, feel free to ignore me but it would help your shots to widen the appeture (higher f number). That way you get more of the background in and the camera won't focus solely on the shinki at the front.

From the other side of the tracks, sometimes that's ideal when you want the focus to be on the Shinki or whatever you're playing with. This one >>5286718 is much better served with the shallow depth of field because the background would seem a little cluttered with the other figures randomly butting it. But >>5286670 would be better following your tip to make sure both of those were in focus. There's no right way really.

Not just that, the thread count, fabric, and simply look of it are all terrible. Compare it to this Picco Neemo T-shirt and if you can't see a difference in quality, then I think you might be blind. Granted, it is more expensive, but if you got shit for a steal at only ten cents, it's still shit. http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIG-DOL-8408&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dpicco+neemo%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1

The pants aren't bad, though. And it's hard to find pants at any length for 1/12 scale for some reason. I still don't think there are any full length Picco Neemo pants yet. Just some shorts and a set of capris coming out.

>>
Why do some of the Fubukis I'm seeing come with some silver bonus item? I thought her little scarf was supposed to be red.
>>
>>5290867
Do you mean the scroll? That was a preorder bonus for the winged version, I think. Then she has the scarf, which was a preorder for the original version. Looking at the guide, it doesn't look like there was a bonus for Type 2.
>>
>>5290479

It's cool anon, having a little companion on your desk to cheer you up is pretty normal! I keep a figure on my desk for that reason, so long as you interact with real humans too it's totally healthy. They do add fun to your life!
>>
>>5291126
I kinda know what you mean. At first, I really didn't care that they were 1/1 scale and thought it was just annoying, thinking that they were really 1/12, but in the back of my mind, knowing they're actual size makes them a bit more fun.
>>
>>5290867
First run (2008) Fubukis had a bonus red scarf.
Second run(2009) had wings and a bonus silver code cylinder.
>>
>>5291072
For mine it just can't get in the slot, and looking at it, it looks like the white piece's hole isn't squarely over the slot on the chest piece, so that's probably why it doesn't fit securely. Is that supposed to be the case? For now the grey piece is just kind of there, attaching by friction, but with just a nudge the pieces come off. I'll try again when I continue the build.
>>
>>5291126

Here you go. They made her eyes a little closer together and her hair a little more vibrant for the second release. It was an improvement, but not really night and day.

>>5291572
Bonus or not, the scroll wasn't in the trays with the rest of the parts just like the scarf from the unwinged release and some people received their figures without the scroll like they should have, but could get it if they contacted Konami about the mistake. Mizuki only had one release with neither the scroll nor scarf.

Here are Konami's official listings for all of the ninjas:

First run Fubuki, Konami style exclusive with a red bonus scarf (came in a separate plastic bag)

Mizuki's only release, also Konami style exclusive. A straight repaint with the same gear, but they added wings.

New and improved Fubuki - another Konami style exclusive, this time with wings in the art and package like Mizuki had, some minor color differences, and now there was a tiny bag with a scroll included instead of a scarf.

> http://www.konami.jp/products/busou_figure_mizuki2/
And then they were both redesigned with MMS 3rd bodies and personalized techno-ninja gear.

Well, shit.
People cancel their pre-orders at the last minute often, right? If I wait until the release there'll be some of them available like with Stylet, right? There are going to be blank more bodies soon, right?
>>
>>5294008
>>5294031
If you are talking spray cans, most can't be used in more extreme temperatures. You'll have to wait until it warms up if you want to spray anything outdoors.

As for tamiya, assuming you're talking about spray cans, make sure you are not getting the polycarbonate kind (It will be clearly marked as such). That stuff is intended for RC car bodies and the like and has stronger thinners (So it can adhere better) that can damage plamo. Other tamiya spray cans are fine.

Ah, thanks I was talking about spray cans for flat coat. I was actually talking about acrylic Tamiya Color paints that come in bottles for the paint. I might use a can if I end uppainting their hair or other parts completely, but I figured brush on would probably be better for details like the white on Stylet's wings and other parts like that. Do the spray paints come out murky in colder weather too or is it just the sealants?
>>
>>5291670
I've never seen that before, it looks really cool. There's a listing on Mandarake for about 5k, is that a pretty regular price or is it a really good bargain that will sell out before I manage to order it?
>>
>>5294174

She's 5k for a reason. She shows up semi-regularly bouncing around the other stores. She has rusted screws. Pretty badly rusted.

But, then again. Maybe she needs a Master who will love and rehabilitate her.
>>
>>5294248
I'm sure there are guides out there on how to get most of the rust off. Or maybe I can even replace the screws.
>>
>>5294150
Yes, don't spray anything in the cold.

As for handbrushing Tamiya paints, you would be better off using something like vallejo. Tamiya paints are alcohol based and dry faster than water based acrylics as they are formulated mainly for airbrushing and not handbrushing. You can paint little details with them no problem, but larger areas tend to not level off as nicely and show brush strokes more.

Also, while over any color that isn't white is a bitch to handbrush as the under color bleeds through. You may want to try painting the area a light grey first to help neutralize the base color if you don't intend to prime it.
>>
>>5294251

The screws are hard to replace, but a vinegar bath will dissolve most of the rust. You'll also want to use vinegar with q-tips on the plastic to get the rust stains out of it. Pretty sure vinegar would be mild enough to not damage the paint or plastic, but use at your own risk.

gigantic heads are a thing with BLADE designs, no matter what line they're in.
>>

Well yes, and it probably does not look out of place there as younger children generally have different overall proportions, which normally includes the head being pretty large in comparsion to their overall size.

I wanted both, just didn't have a job at the time so I couldn't preorder. Now that I do, one isn't on amiami anymore...

Is it me or do Strarf and Arnval M.k 2 have some strange neck pieces?

Hlj has them I think

>Back order
>First run

Did I miss something? As far as I'm aware there is no second run or plans to make more at ghe moment like with Gourai.

If he somehow got it anyway, it could be that the store helped him buy from some other source, or their usual distributor had some surplus. But yeah, no info on reruns as of yet. I hope they do it, but who the fuck knows how Koto assesses the viability of product lines.

Have a Stylet head. Will finish this after exams or probably build the arms during a break in the middle.

She's still available via KotoUS. Well, amiami, too.

There's still a lot of stock for stylet around, just have to look for it.

Nippon Yasan still have them in stock for 3580 yen.

I wish they'd put more effort into the faces. Even the upcoming ones don't look that inspiring.

Where did you get that camera?

It's kind of a Fumikane Shimada thing, from what I've seen, but I'm not terribly familiar with his stuff. The shipgirls he designs for Kancolle has similar expressions. It's all down to taste in the end, but I'll concede that in the end, Kotobukiya is responsible for sculpting and translating the designs into model form.

Stylet's confident smile is infectious as fuck though. I can't help but smile too, looking at it.

He can do more range than what's gone into the current faces. Its more with Koto, the faces on the shinkis he designed are great for example.

I like Stylets grin and her shouting face is OK, it just doesn't fit with how I want to pose her. Maybe Gourai is just miserable.

If you're looking to expand or start a Shinki collection I suggest emailing this gentleman asap.

I've done business with him and he's a total bro with his prices.

what you say is stupid, they are desktop army. there are official shinki baby garage kits that this is clearly not and labelling it as such is deluded at best
