Not 100% Naruto, has bits of early Dragonball in the pool and lots of customized fluff. No Naruto knowledge needed to play.
Roleplay skill level is any, we have newbies to experienced in the group, though nobody is perfect, obviously.
Laidback Group, they can tend to be very OOC between the game days in a kind of "We play Pkmn Red/Blue on the Elementary Playground" kind of way.
Lots of joking shit talk.
Have to be good at working with a sandbox setting, a go getter for your own goals, even if they are not combat-related given we have a lot of social rp between the seriousness of missions and wars.

It's not typical in sessions, you sort of preemptively determine a location or goal you wish to do during that part of the day.
Like a long turn. Very flexible and why you don't need to be at every session and keep up well.

A lot of it has to do with there being better places to LFG. Places that don't require sharing personal data with anonymous board. No matter how irrational that sentiment is, it's there.
Generals are active because people who post there usually have a game running. Quests are run by a small tight knit group (as tight as anonymous group can be anyway) of fa/tg/uys. No need to exile them. Just filter quests and generals out if it's not your thing. You can still filter generals you care about back in.

Create filter with "shadowrun" (insert your own preference), I'm pretty sure you don't even need to do anything with it just make sure it above next filter and active.
Create filter with "general" and set it to hide.
Now the only thread with general in it that shows up should be /srg/. Insert more filters above general one if you care about more than one general.

How come so many people who float around this community and others seem to exist in a vacuum? Why do so many people seem to think that GMs and other players exist only to entertain them? Why is everyone so terrible

Because terrible players get booted and terrible GMs abandoned, thus rejoining the pool, whereas good ones stay in their groups for long periods.
Hence why it's much easier to run into a that guy: they're more likely to be available at any given time, and at least one, but probably more, will drift into your game sooner or later.

This is it. It's not hard to tell a prospective player is not someone you want to spend time with. A bit harder with GMs, but there are ways as well. Look for long-term ongoing games, ask a lot of questions, talk to other players. That sort of thing. The few truly horrible GMs are by now rather well known.

The GM creates a new character sheet and assigns control and editing permissions to you. Then you just fill in whatever is needed. This is usually done as a group anyway so you can just ask the GM for help on what to do.

Yes. Met a few people for a pathfinder game a bit more than two years ago. Half a year later the GM left and I took over for a bit. The grew has grown to over 12 players with multiple GMs that all group up in one chat and look for games when we come up with ideas.

So this is going to be a campaign where I'm experimenting with a few things for the first time. The setting specifics are going to be generated collectively (still working out exactly how we'll do it, but expect dice mechanics). It'll be post apocalypse, but the details will be what we work with - so shit like what The Event was, where abouts in the world the area is, major factions, how much survived, how fucked up everything is, the time since The Event etc.
The other major thing I'll be trying out is that the campaign will be 100% sandbox. I'll try to keep the world feeling interesting and vibrant and 'alive', things WILL happen, but I'm going to try making this free of any 'main quest' aside from decisions made specifically by the players. Your goals, your direction, the people you get along with and the people you don't - that shit will be on you.
