Do you want to play a Path of War initiator (full or partial)?
Do you prefer text-only games?
Are you highly tolerant of weeaboo token art?
Do you believe that dedicated roleplaying and heavy optimization are NOT mutually exclusive?
Are you interested in a game set in the bazaar of the bizarre, Katapesh?

If so, then this might be the game for you:
http://pastebin.com/dyRApYW3

There is a catch. This will be a small group with only two players and one GM. One player slot has already been reserved. They are a dedicated roleplayer, but also very meticulous with the rules. You will have to be patient with them. There is only one player slot left.

It's just a shitty rumor that 2hu was involved with driving Forrest away. The proof presented was literally only some anon saying that it was likely.

Specifically, the "proof" was that he took part in the conversation where Forrest said the thing. The public conversation. That anyone can read.

That "confirmation" was 2hu pointing out that there was no rule against it and that we shouldn't expect newcomers to just know not to take casual conversation as RAI gospel. Which is fucking bullshit, but not in any way a confession.

>>48276953
Because you shouldn't take casual conversation as RAI gospel. There doesn't need to be a rule about it.

tl;dr Forrest was hanging out in the irc as a place to chill without being A Dev, people kept taking her casual comments as official rules, this morning that caused a shitstorm, Forrest left the irc (and possibly the thread?), and anon is certain 2hu did it with flimsy evidence.

And now Qanon's lost her mind

>>48277091

The DM tried to pull a "I'm dragging your name through the mud" session and my character not only accepted the accusations of devilry, but he in fact committed some legitimate evil because, after all, society already expected he would do it.

I can't even begin to describe how petulant the DM got, or how hard he backpedaled to us being respectable heroes.

It didn't work, it turned into the DM losing his shit as we embraced evil and killed his waifu quest giver.

>>48277096
Imo, that's not really necessary; it's just making it worse.

Personally? I've been watching this as I've gone about today's errands and at this point I just think people should stop with the witchhunt bullshit. I left the irc chat today because my words in discussions in that room have been repeatedly taken out of context and caused problems for us at DSP or drama in general. It's been noted before that this is not ideal, and at this point it's happened enough that I can't in good conscience remain there.

It is not 2hu's or anyone's fault, and I don't really care /who/ does it, just that it keeps happening and it's frustrating as hell.

>>48277185

Crucial other bit is that as a result of the flimsy claims of it being 2hu's fault, people are calling for a witch-hunt on him, which is silly for so many reasons.

>>48277185
Not as far as I'm aware of, but Forrest hasn't even technically left the thread, because she wasn't here in the first place. Apparently she left the IRC, though. I can understand why she would, if casual conversation there is getting quoted as DSP-fact and then dropped over here in the thread, causing trouble.

>>48276743
Since we've already got an undead-themed General, I've got a question. My PCs are traveling through a haunted forest and will be getting periodically harassed by a ghost with access to Greater Shadow Conjuration (and a DM willing to be pretty liberally about what it can do with that SLA). What sort of spoopy encounters can I throw at the PCs? The ghost itself stays in the background, but it's happy to do stuff like since conjured enemies with the appearance of their friends/family to attack them.

>>48277194
I don't even get why a DM would put THEIR waifu in a game. I mean, what's the point?

>>48277311
While I agree it's an abuse of power, I'm also sympathetic to her idea that it'd be nice if people stopped talking about all this stuff for an hour. I know /pfg/ can't actually handle that, but if it at least slightly curbs the pointless conversations about irrelevant bullshit, I can't be too angry. Not like I need anything out of the Trove anyway.

Besides, we'll get it back later, so it's a symbolic gesture at most.

>>48277605
Maybe once in a while, but I think it's a bad idea for the atmosphere of the campaign to frequently go overboard on it. The PCs will be spending several sessions in this forest, so I don't want all of them to be filled with hammy horror. And, of course, the other side to this coin is that it'd be lame if it's just "Oh, there are skeletons coming at the party now- scary, isn't it?"

I basically want to hit that middle ground where my players feel vaguely uncomfortable by proxy of their characters being terrified, which is a notoriously difficult middle ground to hit in d20 systems.

Is this an okay char for a Shattered Star campaign?

He's a Slayer/VMC Magus w/ a Falchion, Mithril Breastplate and Cloak of Elvenkind. A lot of focus is on being sneaky. Currently entering at level 5. At Level 7 I'm trading my feat in for the Prescient Attack magus arcana so I can trigger sneak attacks on demand.

The party consists of a bruiser inquisitor, a summoner/witch (not sure which one, I've been out of the campaign for months because of outside reasons), and a homunculist alchemist who focuses on skills and crafting.

Pic related, is what the char basically looks like.
>>
>>48277614
Many thanks, anon. The metal bits on her back are a series of Elven Curved Blades called the Six Mourning Princesses. They're carried in a 6 compartment scabbard that was taken off of an enemy Magus that was hunting us down earlier in the campaign. And her hair isn't shaded presently since I kept the colors flat in the image, what with it more being a prototype than a final product presently.
>>
>>48277510
If you're using WHW to be a grapplemancer, the first thing you should understand is that you'll want a single-level dip in Wizard in order to get the "Knowledge is Power" arcane discovery; this adds your Intelligence Modifier as a bonus to all CMB checks. This is important because a White-Haired Witch simply USES their Intelligence instead of their Strength, while KiP is a BONUS; therefore, they stack.
>>
>>48277666
It works, but only because Slayer can get you your basic feats via Ranger Combat Style as slayer talents. VMCs of any kind hurt a lot, even the decent/good ones like Magus or Wizard.
>>
>>48277751

Yeah. I like VMCs mostly because you get to keep full progression on your first class. What feats do you recommend for a Falchion-using, sneaky Slayer?

You dont want intelligent undead specially ones that you've created yourself. Never ever give sapience to beings who have an uncontrollable hatred for all life.

You may form a bond with a specific undead minion to consider giving him a mind of his own but it is never wise to anthropomorphize them to the point of letting your guard down.

The best thing to do is maybe get a cohort that can also control undead but even that isnt safe.

Anyway, you want maybe two to three undead minions worth tops since quality will always trump quantity in this game.

How long would it take a single man with no proper tools to build a sea-worthy boat while living by himself in a forest?

Also, is any form of sea-worthy boat going to be small enough to ride down a (large) river to reach the sea in the first place?

Help me, /pfg/.
>>
>>48278982
What, you mean with the spell Permanency? Permanency works on the spells it specifically mentions working on and nothing else.

If you're the DM and you want a permanent fireball or whatever to be blocking some path, just do it. It's magic, you ain't gotta explain shit.
>>
>>48279256
Is he magic or no?
>>
>>48279319
At the moment, he's unstatted, but probably not. If he was, he couldn't be especially high level when this was happening. Probably like... level 5, tops.

This is for some backstory stuff, not a PC. Ideally, I need this guy to have been occupied for about 4 years before he got killed off with his task almost complete. I have no idea if that's actually sensible though. I don't know the first thing about boats, like if something made for sailing several miles across the sea could also be sailed down a river to reach the sea in the first place.
>>
>>48279397
If you're the DM it really shouldnt matter and the nigger can build a boat in a week or whatever.
>>
>>48279397
It could easily have taken exactly as long as it needed to.

You could get a seaworthy boat down a river and into the ocean, but it would have to be relatively small, which would mean it couldn't go far or carry many supplies.

It's for one of my players; I had asked a few threads ago about a cleric mass harvesting souls. What he claims to have done is put continuous create soul gem on a lantern so he can vacuum long-dead souls out of graveyards, using the lantern to hold hundreds of them so they can be sold or used as crafting mats.

I want to be sure he's out and out doing impossible things because he looks for every loophole and obscure fluff justification and I'm tired of arguing with him.
>>
>>48278805
I had a similar problem when I had to get rid of my vampire spawn, but one of them was a former friend of mine who turned on me and tried to kill me because she said her friend was dead and I was just a monster who looked like him.

I almost felt something. Almost. Sent them out into the sun. I miss my owlbear vampires.
>>
>>48279256
Sure, there are lots of flatish-bottom boats that are sea-worthy.

How big you need it to be really depends on how many people you need to transport/how many supplies you'll need.
>>
>>48279553
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/c/create-soul-gem

Do you know what contious means? It means that the duration never stops. Create Soul Gem doesn't have a duration. It's Instantaneous. It also requires at least 25g per casting, and he'd have needed to run even creating an item like this by you in the first place, because it doesn't exist.
>>
>>48279553
That's completely ridiculous.

1) Create soul gem only works on something that's died in the last round.
2) Custom magic items are strictly by GM permission only and a continuous item of create soul gem is something that you clearly don't want in your campaign.
>>
>>48279583
He was just going to transport himself, but he was killed by a group that wanted to hijack his operation and travel themselves. That group is large enough that it probably wouldn't have all fit on one boat, let alone with their "cargo" (caged monsters), but I suppose they could have been making multiple boats to spread the load out.

I haven't specified to my players the size of this river yet, or the boat(s). How large of a vessel could be sent down the river if it was, say... about 200 feet wide and 6 feet deep? Those are just arbitrary-chosen numbers, but I know rivers can get plenty bigger than that.
>>
>>48278982
No.

These things are fundamentally opposed. Instantaneous is without duration, continuous is unending.

Cure light wounds is instantaneous because it happens and then it is done. These spells don't have a way of telling what would happen if continuous because they were not designed with a duration. Would you just infinitely heal? Only once a round? On the beginning of your turn? There is no mechanism for that because it would be dumb.

>Even niggers can make boats so we can assume this is going to be either very simple (DC 5) or Typical (DC 10) depending on how generous you are. And obviously he'll want to fucking speed it up because hey, its a piece of shit island, not like he has anything better to do so we up the DC by another +10 for a total DC of 15~20
>Lets assume your PC takes 10 so its going to be: Skill mod + 10 x 15 (DC of the item) = price of the boat in SP then you complete the item. If he exceeds the DC by double or triple the price then he does it at half or a third of the time. If not then you can deduct the result to the price of the boat and that counts as a weeks work.
>If he cant finish it in a week then fucking divide 500 by his result and thats how many weeks it takes to finish.

Create Soul Gem's a shit anyway. What you want is a Talisman of Soul-Eating.

Secondly, the souls aren't IN the graveyard anymore, they're off in whatever afterlife, not hanging around in the dirt.
>>
>>48279693
Based on that, it's something that should only take him between 2 and 3 weeks to finish. So, yeah, even if you account for him having shit tools it's not the sort of project that should take anywhere near 4 years, or even a single year.

I'll have to rethink some things about this backstory. Thanks, though.

>>48279684
That's pretty wide for such a shallow river.

Keep in mind that rivers tend to spread outwards over time, as they erode the land on either side. As a result, the centre is fairly deep comparatively, because it is the oldest and has been eroding the ground in that spot the longest.

You likely wouldn't be building a ship, but you'd want to be careful about sudden rocks or shallow bits, making mistakes or turning.

Most people wouldn't actually build their final ship on the river. They'd make a canoe or raft and take that down to the sea just incase...you know, rocks or waterfalls or stuff. Create a stockpile of food, even if you need to make trips, and then build on the sea, where you'll be spending most of your time.

A fair amount of that space in the boat will be taken up by fresh water, as you can't drink the seawater. Building containers for this can...be tricky.

How much water you need will also depend on how hot or exerting you are. You'll want a rowboat, modified for a sail, because you won't want to row on the seas for obvious reasons, maybe with some pontoons filled with supplies.
>>
>>48279752
Maybe it took him some time to minecraft his way up to having even shit tools, maybe he was just a really shitty boat builder, maybe he's super paranoid about this boat being just right because he's made others that have failed in the past...

You can almost always justify something taking more time. It's less time that's the tricky part.
>>
>>48279752
Why the fuck would it take years to build a rowboat? Its literally a hollowed out log with some sticks as oars.

If you want to make the effort take a while then assume its the part where he gathers supplies for his journey and maybe even building tools for his boat.
>>

>>
>>48279771
Useful information, thanks. I tossed out those numbers based on a very quick Google check I did about the size of the Missouri River (which I know to be a big river) but a more thorough search is telling me those figures are probably totally incorrect. In any case, like I said, they were just arbitrary numbers because I wanted an idea of how big a boat could reasonably be taken down a river of a given size.

>>48279778
Yeah, I'm not too worried about having to fix this problem. If nothing else, I can just say he didn't actually start on the boat immediately, but only came up with the idea for it later. Or... Whatever. It shouldn't be hard to think of something.

>>48279795
Yeah, I already figured getting the supplies together would take him a long time. I had in mind that he'd make something a bit bigger than just a rowboat, because he'd need to use it out at sea, but it was a good point from >>48279771
that the more believable thing to do would be to just make a canoe and ride it down to the coast before building whatever bigger boat you might want there. I think that's the thing that's going to force me to do the most reworking of this backstory. Honestly, I'm not sure why that didn't occur to me, but I guess it's because these were all the very vaguest of details in my head at first, before I started trying to flesh them out a bit more.

I'm in a pirates game based heavily on S&S (with several alterations, or so the GM says).

We're on the island you get for winning the regatta, and with three players it's been pretty slow going clearing out all the shit that place has, on top of the fact that it was changed to be as painful and difficult as possible for a /different/ player (who would've been soloing the thing...).

Anyways, I had set up the clever plan to keep the cyclopes off our backs while we dealt with the flying chickens and flying fiend things. Two sessions later, the cyclopes were getting uppity so my group turns to me and I go, "Fuck it, let's go Manifest Destiny on these savages."

Long story short, ballistae and catapults make wonderful anti-cyclops weapons, not just in damage but in range. They were slaughtered in two rounds from 20 ballistae, 2 catapults, and my asshole of a slayer in the crow's nest arching away.

I'm gonna be on a 16-hour drive probably Saturday, and hopefully have enough energy to still play in my Saturday game (since it's finally getting somewhere after the players [including myself] idled almost two sessions in one tavern).

Unfortunately, it also means my Sunday games won't be happening as per usual, but that just gives me more time to plan, build, prep, and test enemy encounters.

Logical use of the amount of magic in setting. For the amount of casters knocking about no one actually makes use of them.

>How would you make Golarian great again?

ARODEN

Get rid of a bunch of the silly countries that are only there to fulfill the kitchen sink fantasy setting and make the game about a small handful of powerful nations and the intrigue that lies within.

Well, it would probably involve reworking some of the internal structures to be more consistent. There don't seem to be a lot of towns and villages, and that whole "women have 0-2 kids" thing probably isn't gonna work out. I dunno, I suck at world building.

What if I do the "natural selection" thing?
What's more edgy as animal companion?
is a spider good?
>>
>>48280609
This. The setting is too damn dense with concepts. Even just in the Inner Sea.
>>
>>48280710
I'd go with dire bat personally
>>
>>48280609
Exactly. Cut it down to Chelix, Taldor, Qadira, Osirion, Mwangi Expanse and LotLK. Maybe keep Varisia, Andoran and the Shackles around if you need some minor actors working between the big boys.

Its less useful though.

Just call it Zubat.

Edgy cares not for utility. Edgy only cares for being so goth it shits bats.
>>
>>48280876
I'll call it Remilia
>>48280900
I fucking love bats
>>
>>48280599
You mean Tippyverse?
>>
>>48281140
Nothing that extreme would be necessary, but I do agree with >>48280599 that there is an extreme lack of actual implementation of magic users in the setting.

It's almost like the writers didn't know how to structure the development of a society or something.

Who doesn't fucking love bats.

Bats are amazing.

The only reason naga are aberrations is because they get more skill ranks than magical beasts. The only reason why an owlbear is a magical beast is because it never existed on Earth. Do I have to explain why that's bad game design? Types should have clear unambiguous definitions to avoid those situations.

What other category could those two examples fall under?

You're all goddamn fucks and you all complain about Paizo posters, at least they don't stoop to shitstain levels.

Not that anon, but Monstrous Humanoid and Animal, respectively.

And now I take the opportunity to try and sell you all on my homebrew that adds magical beasts as animal companion options, because why the fuck can't we do that already? We can influence them with Handle Animal and everything.

How would one go about writing a non-evil Necrocracy without taking inspiration from Golarion? I don't want my setting to have any real connection to that awful place.

I know this isn't the right thread, but it's close enough. Does anyone have a megaupload of all the 3.5e books?
