>Dungeon Keeper campaign
Relationships would go far better if the people interested in them showed up. One PC is dating an NPC, sort of. NPC has her own thing about building a harem but is willing to share with her PC boyfriend. Another PC also seems to be developing feelings for said NPC and shows more often than the boyfriend.

>ERP campaign
Everyone is screwing, what would you expect? PCs, NPCs and celestial/fiendish servants alike.

They're going very well.
I have no campaign. I just make up characters and use DMless systems to send them on silly quests. My life is hollow and I can only look forward to a swift and unforseen death.

Care to elaborate.
>>
>>48177365
So the endgoal of the campaign I just started is for the (male) winner of a tournament to marry a princess.
Thankfully, only one player character is explicitly emotionally invested in marrying the princess, the rest are either competing because they're obligated to or are invested in the politics of the situation.
Right now, there hasn't been any backstabbing because it's too early and PvP is usually discouraged in our games.

My character's relationship with his son is better than ever, after he spent half the campaign chasing the kid down after being kidnapped and. His son finally forgave him for leaving him as a baby with his grandparents and now my character is on a quest to be the best dad ever while making his son a man. His relationships with the rest of the party are, however, strained, because they are murderhobos at worst and amoral mercenaries at best.

She's a consummate professional who's overly dedicated to her job and has spent years training to get good at what she does, which includes being in charge and melee combat. He's a natural at his job who through dumb luck salvages missions that would have otherwise gone to pot, but his issues with authority means he only has his assignment because of his father and puts him at odds with her, his commanding officer. After one too many close calls and death threats, it felt only natural for her to take charge when he finally stood up for himself.

Neither of us players planned for it to happen, and all resemblances to fictional characters were only realized after the fact.

The kicker? According fluff, her species mate for life.

It's not a current game, but one of my old characters ended up marrying one of the other party members. She had just united a Kingdom under rule through a bloody civil war (as her people are wont to do), and needed a foreign political alliance to keep her throne. The neighboring kingdom had recently elected (or something) one of the other player characters and had a much more secure rule. My character had bonded with him in their adventuring days, and perhaps fooled around a little after dungeon raids and mercenary contracts. It was a decision that made itself.
it was actually the other character's twin brother that she fell in love with, before he died. The brothers only looked the same, they acted as different as night and day. She actually disliked the twin she married, and he her, but he needed the alliance too. As a wedding present (and so he didn't have to deal with her), the twin resurrected his brother, a thing nearly impossible in this setting.

It's really not as exciting as it sounds. Essentially her biologial father became an illithid, killed his colony and ascended to alhoon-hood and started himself a slavery business. She was out on the street at the time and so he offered her a job serving as his mouthpiece on the surface for brokering deals. One of said deals may or may not have involved said pc, I still need to discuss it with their player. Either way, she's finally starting to feel at least a little guilty about her career.

I'm sorry, Katia. Have some more posts to cheer up:

In another campaign I was in, two characters, a female orc street samurai and a male human rigger, came in as a married couple, theoretically as brawn and brains. It became a whirling ball of chaos and destruction and impotent planner.

The other two characters, a female elf face and a grubby male dwarf chaos mage, struck up an odd friendship of necessity that was equal parts because of IC and OC dynamics. Lots of platonic odd couple shenanigans and magically enhanced performances ensued.
>>
Not romance, but I once played an entire campaign with my family as NPCs.

I played a rogue named Adell Weiss. A plague had claimed his parents at a young age, and they had sent him away with his older brother along with his younger siblings beforehand.

He kept his brothers last words in his heart: "I'm not hungry, Adell. Why don't you eat it?", and lived a life of odd jobs and thievery to feed his younger siblings.

He wrote to them constantly, and loves off of poor rations while sending most of his money to them. He eventually wound up hired as a counter-spy for the settings God.

*In the setting gods were chosen from mortals based on how pure they are(pure evil being a possibility), and he was guarding a person known for her piety.

By the end of the campaign he gave his younger sister a diary he had kept with him across his adventures, it was stained with his own blood, and contained the absolute truth about everything he's done and discovered as a spy. After that he left to fight the BBEG.

His last words, having defeated the BBEG atop a mountain, freezing to death and knowing he'd never make it back.( his nation's government had sent him as a doomed spy) were: "I bet this could all be a bad dream. I could be at home right now." then he let himself fall from the edge of the cliff he was standing on

D7XWZiA - Copy.png

For six years, Lustris waited to meet her mother. She had a stepmother of course, one who was even nice to her, but that's not the same. Her father was wise and respected, but not the warrior, the champiion she wanted to be. Her mother, she knew, was a great warrior, one who would return in glory, and take her daughter under her wing, to train her as the same.

For another three years she wondered, then realized; her mother must have left her deliberately; let her grow on her own with scales different from the others, knowing it would make her strong, independent, capable. Worthy of such a legacy, rather than merely given it.

For another three years, she waited, certain that now that she was ready for her training as a warrior, her mother would show.

Somewhere between twelve and fourteen, she realized her mother wasn't coming. Maybe she was dead, maybe she was never the hero Lustris had dreamed of, maybe, maybe, maybe. Regardless, that distant red-scaled woman who had birthed her had never been seen again. She hated her then, hated her for years... but hate without target or focus is hard to sustain, even with hot dragonblood flowing in your veins. Eventually, as the years passed, that wound scabbed over and her mind turned to other things.

Then, twenty four, years later, hundreds of leagues abroad while adventuring, she gets told her bloodline is tied to a noble house in a neighboring kingdom she hasn't visited yet. What the hell? Queen? Princess? Civilized folk?

To begin with, she hears of a legendary queen of this house she's tied to, and her misbegotten daughter. Information is sparse, but the two have fallen out- hard. To Lustris, for whom family is everything, this sounds incredible, implausible, the direst of occurrences- but what the hell. If she has living family she'll find them- meet this sister of hers- (for her mother can only be this legendary leader) -and find out why her mother abandoned her.

Things happen, it takes time to get around to it. In the interim she had travelled across this foreign kingdom, found out that the disowned daughter was her mother, not her sister, found out that 85% believed her mother had no children, (only a few in the know) and also served as the excuse for a war that had long been brewing between her estranged noble house and another. She'd decided, "Fuck this family of mine- if they don't want to admit to being related to me, I'M not going to go begging them to acknowledge me. I'm going to make such a name for myself that THEY come begging for me to acknowledge THEM."

And then this war happened, and well... I mean, she can't let her family be wiped out before that happens, right? max tsundere Nor will she allow others to kill HER family, no matter how estranged. So she decides she'll fight in this war- a nameless foreign mercenary, young buck out to make a name for herself, etc.

So while grandma, literally legendary champion, tyrant, ruler, is everything Lustris once dreamed her mother would be- (well, except for that part where of late, ever since she was dethroned from the shogunate and lost her arm, she's reputed to be holding on by spite, leading her house into ruin, doing more harm than good, refusing to change with the times) -her mother, disowned, a mage, scholar, and explorer of significant stature, if constantly overshadowed by her mother.

Lustris rescues her mother's forces from a siege. Evacuates the survivors aboard the party's ship. Lustris refuses to so much as look at her mother- who is quick to secure a cabin and hide away herself. Her loyal servants watch Lustris, report back- but Lustris will be damned if she goes to her mother first. Let the woman who abandoned her, chose to never be a part of her life, lay the first plank on this particular bridge! She doesn't care! She spent ten years not caring, she's sure as hell not going to care now! R-really!

Unfortunately for her, she got not just most of her dragonblood, but her stubborn streak as well, from her mother's side of the family. Her first words to her mother- (another PC had decided this was ridiculous, and forged a letter from Lustris saying "Please come down, I need your help." for said mother while they were having a council of war) - "Are you here to kill me?", don't mend any fences. (In her defense, everything she'd heard suggested that this woman had spent two and a half decades swearing up and down that she had never had any children, never ever, definitely not a daughter)

What it finally takes is her cohort- an NPC who's been with her literally longer than the party, except that time when she was kidnapped, and also serves as her personal healer, to liaise with one of mother's servants, and conspire to lock both her and her mother in the hold at some point to hash out her differences. Accusations. Simmering resentment. Hostility. Asking why her mother left the moment she was born, never bothered to even try and see her- find out that she DID, and couldn't- It ends in tears. And hugs.

Not instantly, but that's a hell of a step in the right direction, and it does wind up with them... tentatively-feeling-out a relationship between them, mother and daughter who'd never met. Mother feared for the dangerous course her daughter was set on... but decided that she could either try and 'protect' her daughter and drive a further wedge between them... or try to help her, and even if she died, get to share SOMETHING with the child she'd never known. And maybe help her survive.

I particularly liked an RP-only scene in which daughter somewhat-awkwardly offered her mother a gift from among the spoils she'd taken- who reflexively started to turn it down ("That? Why in-") before catching herself- "Oh, that is kind of thoughtful..." and more importantly, "-mydaughterisgivingmesomething!"

On the mend, famalam.

Party is composed of:
>CG Female Elven Ninja. Free-spirited with counter-cultural views on everything ever. Has, like, fifty magic items by now.
>LN Male Dog-Anthro Gunslinger. Dour realist with revolutionary goals (but following the laws of his homeland, of course).
>LN Male Cat-Anthro Magus. Cocky show-off that challenges every enemy he meets to a duel.
>LG 'Female Human' Golem (Awakened Construct). Perky eternal optimist who suplexes dragons.
>TN Male Human Rogue / former Assassin (NPC). Quiet and repentant for his past crimes, kind of a smart ass.

The Ninja and Gunslinger don't like each other much, she wants to take enemies in alive but he tends to aim for the chest and head on instinct. They also rarely agree on where they want to go and what quests they want to do.

The Ninja and Magus don't talk much outside of quests and objectives, but they seem to trust each other a little.

The Ninja and Golem are close friends and recognize that their love of Good overrides their opposing views on Law vs. Chaos. The Golem also follows orders so they never get into arguments.

The Ninja and Rogue are sleeping together, she wants to get married and start a family, he wants to be a better man for her.

The Gunslinger and Magus openly dislike each other, being from countries and cultures that despise the other. They agree that the mission is more important than their personal feelings, so thankfully it's never been a major problem. They work quite well together in combat, surprisingly.

The Gunslinger and Golem have an asymmetrical relationship. She's very nice and supportive of him, he gives her the cold shoulder, she doesn't seem to mind (or notice). He's a 'glass-half-empty' kinda guy, she's a 'I'll share the water with all my friends!' kinda girl.

The Gunslinger and Rogue originally never trusted each other, but seem to be on better footing now that the Rogue's proven his loyalty to the party.

The Magus and Golem get along okay. He keeps blasting her with his AoE attacks, but she doesn't get upset at him over it. Not even when he almost 'kills' her, which worries the rest of the party.

The Magus and Rogue seem to enjoy each other's company. They're often snide and sarcastic to each other, and they get along alright.

The Golem and Rogue are good friends, because the Rogue is the only one in the party that can repair the Golem's damage suffered (aside from relatively fast natural healing). She trusts him completely, and refuses to believe that he's as bad a person as he claims to be.

That's pretty much how the party stands right now. We used to have a lot more problems due to the CG vs. LN viewpoints of the group, but we OOC decided not to let it ruin the game. The party is more or less a team that works together and trusts one another, even if they don't agree with (or like) each other. Given that the current Story Arc involves saving the whole damn world from a looming apocalypse, they've put aside their differences and mainly focus on the missions.

I'm That Guy of my group, currently playing the Golem. Before I rolled her up I was playing a Neutral Evil 'Affably Evil' guy who was driving a wedge between the party members (and IRL group members), kinda on purpose due to real-life frustrations. Turns out making a genuinely nice Lawful Good character with a positive attitude can do wonders for your game. The fact that she follows a modified version of Asimov's Laws of Robotics makes things easier as well; I can't cause arguments when I'm only following orders.

The bard's going after a princess, who is flattered but entirely unused to affection that isn't platonic due to being locked away for years. Said princess has a very close, almost familial relationship with her bodyguard which is fitting, because he's secretly her actual father.

The rogue's going after a up-and-coming bandit queen. They have good chemistry, but she's too used to people in their profession hitting on her for her to be any further involved than 'oh, one of -you- lot' at the moment.

Oh, and the king is on good terms with everyone so far, but is on the road to going more than a little violently insane due to some recently acquired magical corruption.
