Enchantment

Whenever an opponent casts a spell, sacrifice Power of the Moon and counter that spell.

>>
>>48170012
Are you kidding me? Literally all they need to do is cast one throw away spell. It's like babby's first baited counterspell
>>
Why would this be busted with sigarda? I don't understand the concern.
>>
>>48169463
Would you consider yourself your opponent?
>>
>>48170159
It wasn't a concern, although I remembered her card wrong. I thought she prevented all sacrifices, instead of opponent instigated ones.
>>
>>48169463
Since the opponent decides which of their spells gets countered, it's a roundabout way of making mono-blue "opponent discards 1 card" with the side effect of also being recurable with, say, Sun Titan. It's also an excuse to use more Bunnyfu art without her being a backround figure in a grimderp scene with more a emo planeswalker in the forefront.

8/10 would buy
>>
>>48170145
This.

While neat, and useful, OG counterspell is better in every way, outside of "I'm not really left handed" double counterspell nonsense. I can see it being full of meta-fuckery in edh, but it's not something you worry about.

What are you thinking of cutting for it, and how many will you run?

I'm thinking of running 2-3, cutting a mana leak and a Court Hussar at least
>>
>>48170145
Here's the thing, most new players are going to see this and go "oh man my next spell will get coutnered, now I can't play my spell!" and they'll literally freeze up and not cast ANYTHING for several turns, allowing the control decks to draw into actual counterspells.

It's unplayable garbage, sure, but it's a GREAT teaching tool for people who actually want to learn.
>>
>>48171969

Don't know yet, we'll see: it's exactly what that deck needs though.
>>
>>48170310
I'm surprised they made an actual good card that plops down those devil tokens. Too bad the tokens look gross.

>>
>>48172392
An actual good card? I don't know, man. It seems really situational.
>>
>>48170517
basically this. Card quality doesn't differ as much in a limited deck, so they'll likely have to lose something useful to it, or at least be put off their game plan. So it slows the opponent down, and keeps you at card parity, while getting an enchantment in the yard.

It's fine.
>>
>>48172441

It's good to know opponents can cast more than 1 spell during Turn 3 when you drop this.

Man how can /tg/ be so fucking bad at this game, it's too fucking hilarious.
>>
Mausoleum Wanderer is the reason to at least try spirit tribal. An efficient 1 drop beater if it's being pumped every turn, absurd synergy with Rattlechains and the 3 mana "countergiest" (have fun ever casting Languish before turn 6), works super well with Always Watching and thunderclap wyvern (sadly not a spirit). A shame Thunderbreak Wyvern isn't a spirit; I think we're one decent spirit away from a legit deck.
>>
>>48172437
There's like... 8-9 playable outside of Standard with 3-4 potentially playable in Eternal formats, and 1 definitely going to be played in Eternal.

The set is fantastic.

>>
>>48172748

My gut impression is the mana denial effect is a little slow to be backbreaking, especially on the draw or vialing in. Legacy decks operate pretty smoothly on three lands, delaying a fourth is not usually that relevant if Thalia 2.0 is the only tax.

That said, we'll definitely test it over crusader or some avengers. Its tax is still relevant if not usually backbreaking, it's Legendary for Karakas, isn't an X/1, holds equipment and synergies well with Thalia 1.0 (that 4th+ land is much more relevant then).

It wouldn't be busted anyways. The problem with it is that, rather than you choosing what to counter, your opponent gets to choose what gets countered.

Now, if it were something like "Sacrifice ~: counter target spell", that would make it much worse. Like a counterspell Seal as >>48171735 mentioned.

No it doesn't since Magic has been going "Lets remake old cards and erase the downsides" for several years now. This card is literally just hesitation but it can't backfire and also it's cost reflects the new standard cost for counterspells
>>
>>48173371

DnT aka. Death and Taxes is a mono-white hatebear deck in Legacy. Basically it plays a bunch of creatures and land destruction, tries to slow down the game so its creatures can slowly smack your shit.

>>48173512
It's less that and more that when it comes to modern card design, a good rule of thumb is "Assume the cards are made for subhuman intellects" Of course a competent player wouldn't let hesitation backfire (Unless there was something they REALLY needed to cast and even then they'd likely burn a spell to do it) but not everyone's competent
>>
>>48173521

Whether or not that's the case, 'HERF DERF HEARTHSTONE GUIZ AMIRITE' is a facile, and inaccurate, comparison that makes you look more like a bandwagoning jackass than anything else.
>>
>>48173521
>"Assume the cards are made for subhuman intellects"
But /tg/ proves even when you do that, people still won't get it right.
>>
>>48173521
Allowing cards to "backfire" has been the source of every brokenly good card. They just reprinted wheel of fortune with a bolt and char attached after realizing the "backfire" just read "rape each opponents hand, refuel your hand, and then make them pray for salvation.

Am I misunderstanding you or do you not know the difference between "draws that many cards" and "draws 7 cards?"
>>
>>48174330
You're misunderstanding >>48173831, yes.
He isn't saying that they literally printed a card with exactly Wheel of Fortune's effect with the addition of a bolt and Char attached.
He means that they printed a card with what is colloquially known as a "Wheel of Fortune effect", with two additional effects similar to Lightning Bolt and Char.
He was also trying to point out that cards like Wheel of Fortune are broken because of the way that they're actually used; i.e. in the original Wheel of Fortune's case, you would use it when you were at 0 cards and your opponent was at 8 and you would both draw 7, but you would gain more benefit.
By removing that "backfire" from the effect, it allows them to print more reasonable versions of it.
>>
>>48174386
Ah, fair enough.
Although I'd argue that in this case its the change from the OG Wheel of Fortune to the new not-draw-7 version that is the main change, removing the "backfire" of wheeling your opponent is almost completely insignificant compared to that.
>>
>>48174386
Newsflash mogreloid:
Wheel of fortune effects are shit

Wheel Of Fortune (the card) is also kinda shit, but can be OK since it can read "draw 7 for 2R", if you cannot grasp this you're thick.

In standard Dromoka's Command exists and will blow your ass out

In every other format it's too expensive and you'd be better served doing something more better
>>
>>48174631

Why curse of Exhaustion? Why not use Eidolon of Rhetoric? It's cheaper and doesn't die to bolt.
>>
>>48174692

Not the same guy but I play Starfield Pact(Esper Pact) in Standard and Dromoka's Command doesn't do shit against the deck. You play far too many enchantments to even care about sacrificing one enchantment of your choice for that matter, not to mention you can recur them all over again. Once you get the Demonic Pact+Starfield loop going you do effectively lock them out. Of course the thing is you have to survive the early rush by slamming that Languish asap. Worst matchup is RG ramp with Worldbreaker and decks running Nahiri due to their ability to exile your enchantments.
>>
>>48174703
Because it dies to path and affects only the opponent.
I made a deck with thia along with Erayo, so Eidolon would lock me as well.

Korean uses an alphabet. It's actually extremely simple because it was invented by one guy because he thought using the Chinese system, a representatice one for a tonal language, was complete bullshit for a language that isn't Chinese. Good choice, because Chinese is one of the greatest clusterfucks of a writing system after Thai.

Japanase uses a syllabary that's actually three different syllabaries and good fucking luck learning when to learn which.
>>
>>48176008

Hiragana = Native words
Katakana = Foreign words and foreign names and names in restaurants

Right?
>>
>>48176008

>when to learn which.

you start with Hiragana, then you learn Katakana which are the same phonemes with different representation, one aimed at native words and the other at foreign words. You can memorize and get proficient at writing both in about one week.

Then you spend 3 years leaning how to write/read Kanji.

Korean has a very slick alphabet, BUT they also use the equivalent of Kanji when they feel like writing in a fancier fashion.

most etbs wouldn't work with that wording though, or would work radically differently. "As long as this entered the battlefield this turn you may return target Aura or Equipment card from your graveyard to your hand."?
