I'd replace Pit Fight. A r/g card looks off for themed WRU themed decks.

>Lands
Border Outpost and Rebel Base don't need the "you control" bits, unless you are deathly afraid of Reroute.

Token making on Dragon Den and Mustering Ground is too cheap. Compare Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree and other 1/1 token makers.

>Equipment
Equip costs go below the rest of the text. A lot of these are also too powerful. 0 for first strike is huge because you can use it on both attack and defense without tempo loss. The tribal boosts are too large, making the equipment terrible without the tribe but too good in themed decks.

Preface: Anything I don't specifically call out looks fine to me. Oh, and I'm not that great at balance, but I'll try.

>Dragonhunter Bow
Copy Hedron Blade
>Whenever equipped creature blocks or becomes blocked by one or more Dragons, it gains deathtouch until end of turn.
Oh, and the Equip costs goes on the bottom.

Wait, WHAT?! You put the equip costs for all of them on the top?! Seriously, man? C'mon, you can do better than that.

>Infantryman's Spear
>[...] +1/+1 and has first strike.

>Phalanx Shielf
I can't even tell what this is supposed to do. Here's my best guess
>[...] it gets +1/+1 until end of turn for each creature it's blocking.

>Sandshield Cloak
Even to spells you control?

>Sandswimmer Harness
Man, this tribal focus is not doing you any favors.

>Camp Follower
No idea what to think of this one. Why is it a White Rogue?

>Brand of Cowardice
This isn't Red.

>Desert Stormcaller
This looks interesting.

>Furious Resistance
You should probably make reprints somehow so people don't start arguing about them or something.

>Inner Bravery
I have no idea whether this actually works or not.

>Rebel Sandswimmer
Self-bounce isn't very Red.

>Scarred Deserter
Wait, hold on. You have all these cards that talk about Cowards, but this isn't one? "Oh no, the fuzz! Better hide!" Total coward. Especially in Red. Red are like Krogans, they have twice as much balls as everyone else.

>Siege Ox
This is kinda interesting. Nice job. Though I'm not sure on the mana cost.

>Sow Dissent
Not sure how I feel about these counters. Is this a recurring thing? Regardless, it feels awkward on a common.

>Starving Lion
What the fuck? Did I miss something? Why is this a 3/3 with an upside for 2 in Red of all colors?

>Rebel Yell
Isn't this a Civil War Confederacy thing? Also, kinda weird that Blue cares about Rebels.

Claw of Lion I think the legendary check would be worded: "As long as it's(/.equipped creature is) legendary, it has double strike and vigilance." Wording taken from Champion's Helm and Godo's Maul.

Static surge wording should be "to each equipped creature"

Lycean General needs a terminating clause for the bonuses.
>>
>>48119137
Lycean General needs a duration on his buff.
Static Surge should be each equipped creature.
Claw of the Lion doesn't need a capital on legendary or the 'as well'.

Anything I don't respond to here is changed.
>Phalanx Shield
It's supposed to reward double blocking. "Whenever this creature blocks, it gains +1/+1 for each other creature blocking that creature" is suppsoed to mean "For each creature you block with beyond the first, equipped creature gets +1/+1" or something along those lines.
>Starving Lion
Starving Lion was initally supposed to be this, but I couldn't figure out whether that was a good design or not, so I left it woefully incomplete.
>Desert Stormcaller
Maybe it looks interesting because it isn't mine. Functional reprint of Sotrmcaller of Keranos, flavored to fit the setting.
>Rebel Yell
Was initially red, shifted into blue because of the card draw, I'm already leaning on tribal pretty hard in this thing so I figured it'd be fine as is.
>>48119415

Well, given your determination to use only evergreen keywords... Menace is a given, and maybe some kind of temporary Equip feature that tutors an Equipment for a turn to represent his cloak/suit becoming any weapon he can imagine that's not mechanical? Tutor the equipment, attach it, then sac it at EOT? I was gonna suggest Hellbent too but eh, not evergreen. BR obviously.
>Felicia
2/2 UR rogue with Hexproof and "Whenever an opponent would flip a coin, that player loses the flip instead" and "You have protection from spells and abilities with the word 'random' in them".

>Phalanx Shield
You need to have it grant the equipped creature the ability to block extra creatures, or the ability will be flat-out useless. Also, when creature A blocks creatures B and C, B and C are said to be "blocked by" creature A. My confusion was over "blocking" since that implies that creature A was attacking. Look up the wording to Rampage and repurpose it.
>Staving Lion
The ability you're looking for is
>Whenever a creature dealt combat damage by ~ this turn dies, remove a -1/-1 counter from ~.

>Desert Stormcaller
Ah. I was reminded of Keranos. Um... look, don't get discouraged. You have to remember that the guys at Wizards have done this for years and do it for a living. We're just fans dicking around for fun.

>Rebel Yell
Eh, roll with it for now and see how people react to it and how it plays in the archetype.

>>48119540
>Spawn
Oh man, this sounds like the problem I'm going to have with Green Lanterns. Hmm, well, I can try to incorporate Equipment matters, since even without the suit, he loves using modern weapons. Or at least the version in the movie did. Not much of a fan of the comics. Tried to get into them twice (Jim Downing and God is a dog), got burned both times. Probably Menace, yeah, maybe Regen. Trample? I'll have to see how it goes. As for Hellbent, I have no issue mimicking nonevergreen stuff. Oracle here basically gives your cards Transmute UB.

>Felicia
This is part of why I've been holding off on her. There's the cat thing, the thief thing, and the luck thing. I'll try doing something with flips, but I'm not too keen on your ideas, sorry. Really, they seem like something more fitting for Domino.

I also wanted to point out something I'm actually a little split on with Dalus.

Obviously choosing to Manifest at the beginning of combat means he has a better chance of being impactful the turn he enters the board, but it also means you have to make some possibly tough choices about what to spend your mana on pre-combat, since you won't know what you're Manifesting.

Letting it go off at your upkeep means you know what you're getting and can decide how to spend your mana more readily, but of course it leaves him vulnerable a full turn without benefiting you.

There's a tradeoff either way, and I'm uncertain which plays better.
>>
>>48119616
Domino's power isn't as strong as Felicia's though, if I recall. It seems to be she'd be better off lampooning her luck with Regenerate or something.

Glad some Spawn ideas clicked though. I mean I don't really like him as a character that much, but I saw a pic of him while scrounging for art and I thought to ask. I asked about Black Cat because her I do like. Well, before she became a shit-tastic villain.
>>
>>48119610
I think it can be "Whenever ~ is dealt damage," but you're right. "takes damage" isn't proper wording.

>I mean I don't really like him as a character that much
Oh no. OH NO. Spawn is basically the epitome of shitty 90's comic characters. And it's pretty clear the writers have no idea what to do with the character. It's honestly something I'd really like to see redone in the hands of a better writer (like Prophet and Bloodstrike) because what I remember of the movie actually was actually pretty decent. Goddamn, part of me wonders how the hell Image has stayed in business for so long. Especially when I was going through Cyberforce and Hunter-Killer. They're both 90's super teams, the former being literally just cyborg X-Men, the latter getting their powers from tattoos. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I liked the newest Tattooed Man. But a whole team of them?

>shit-tastic villain.
SLOOOOT! Yeah. Though I'm not sure on the power levels of Domino or Black Cat, and let's face it, serious talk of power levels is a joke, I'm really going for "Adaptation Distillation" here, just taking the best aspects of everything and combining them. Plays hell with continuity, but Magic does that already.

But yeah, I'll see what I can do. Might not have anything by tonight though.

Bow of Nylea is the only really comparable card, but is a legendary 1GG enchantment artifact which offers deathtouch to all your attackers (among other things).
This piece of equipment, while limited in its own regard, is full colorless and an equip cost of 1 lets any creature not only block, but kill just about anything.
>>
>>48120019
That's your average? Fuck, I forgot how hard it is to find art for things that aren't just adaptations of something. Probably explains why so many of my truly original cards are still lacking art.

From a vaguely remembered plot synopsis read years ago...

Al Simmons, Hellspawn 2BB
Legendary Creature- Demon
Deathtouch
Whenever another creature dies, exile it instead. Then, if ten or more creatures have been exiled this way, exile ~ and return all creatures exiled with ~ to the battlefield. Transform ~.
3/4
//
Spawn of the New World
(b/r) Legendary Creature- Demon
Flying, Protection from Angels and Demons
Other creatures you control get +1/+1 and have Protection from Angels and Demons.
7/7

Now that I think about it, a spark creature would be moderately interesting. Does a dfc 'remember' stuff its other side did? For example, could I have a spawnwalker reanimate cards the previous side exiled?

I use whatever's for my current set, and used to use a general one for all my one-offs, but stopped because unless you're doing a set or something, your identity is not important in my opinion, since all your one-offs are being judged in a a vacuum anyway. If we ever decided as a thread to always "tag" ourselves with set symbols I'd probably participate because it was the Will of the council, but until that happens, set symbols for sets only.

>>48120241
This reads really awkwardly. "Put target creature with power less than or equal to ~'s power on top of it's owner's library." isn't it?

>>48120298
That's a lot of symbols.

>>48120467
I don't think that final ability is worded correctly. "WU, Shuffle ~ into its owner's library: Put target exiled card on top of its owner's library. Activate this ability only if ~ is in exile, and only at any time you could cast a sorcery." I added the last bit because I think it'd need it. I'm not ever sure about any of this, or even if this card should exist.
>>
>>48120298
Siril is really great. Bloodletting is a neat big black card, and it should clarify that players sac in order. Sorin is too much about tribal and should have one "regular" ability.

It depends. Because a DFC is, at the end of the day, a single card, it will "remember" what was exiled with it on either side. Kinda like how one side "knows" that the other side has been on the battlefield long enough to attack without Haste. At least, I think that's how it would work.

How? It's not always guaranteed, but you can slap your opponent around with their own spells. Imagine just redirecting a Murder at an opponent's thing. That's you up a card net.
>>
>>48120830
that and Redirect is more red than blue. But blue can do whatever it wants with spells and no one will bat an eye so whatever

Good call on Bloodletting

The way Sorin's set up, he technically does have a normal ability. His +2 can still just act as a buff for creatures regardless. The thing about him as a Tribal card though is that he's not just support, he's an engine. He enables the tribal support. You can have Sorin by himself and no other vampires and eventually his other effects will start working.
>>
>>48120858

so you're saying that the Flectomancer should have been mono-red, because redirecting is already available to red? multicolor cards are allowed to have unnecessary extra colors.

>>48120864

red hasn't gotten a redirect since Zendikar (Ricochet Trap) while blue has Mizzium Meddler and Spellskite. It's very much a blue mechanic as it's a red one.
>>
>>48120933
No, I just said blue has a convoke card. I didn't offer anything about what the card should or shouldn't be.
>>
>>48120922
So... basically a version of Biorhythm that also fucks over the boardstate? And it's even cheaper? I can't see this ending well. Like, at all. No really, this strikes me as a card that would get preemptively banned the day it was spoiled.
>>
>>48120858
>>48120968
To be fair, that blue card doesn't itself have convoke - it gives your artifact spells convoke. If one wanted, you could argue that it's similar to blue ramp in that it only applies for artifacts rather than general use.
>>
>>48120922
>>48120992
Oh wait, it's permanents? Oh, that's not so bad. Still worried about the power though.
>>
>>48120933

>>48120867

Guild's Mastery WUR
Instant
Choose target instant or sorcery targetting you or a permanent you control, then choose two--
-Exile that spell, and spells with that name cost 1 more to cast for as long as it remains exiled.
-You may change that spell's targets.
-Copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.

Eh, I guess. It actually makes the ability better since it will hit other Treefolk too, which I wasn't sure I wanted for power concerns. But I'll keep it in mind. The front side is too strong. A 4 mana 2/4 that puts two (untapped!) forests onto the battlefield is way too good. It should probably grab one basic forest and put it into play tapped. You could maybe get a second forest to hand if you lowered the creature's stats.

Mono-Red deals with Equipment as well. The archetype I have to admit is RW though. It feels kinda weird to make the character without Black, and I wanted to give it Regen. I normally stay away from tri-color, but it might be for the best. What do you think?

>>
>>48127290
The vast majority of the things I do have precedence. In fact, this is part of why I encourage people to look at actual magic cards, because there are so many obscure designs and mechanics that you might otherwise never know about.

>Oracle text:
>Whenever a spell or ability is put onto the stack, if it has a single target, reselect its target at random. (Select from among all legal targets.)
>Rulings:
>10/4/2004: If there are multiple legal targets, it may still choose the original one.
>10/4/2004: If there are no other legal targets, it keeps its target.
>10/4/2004: The ability triggers when a spell or ability is put on the stack, and this target-changing ability itself goes on the stack. This means that the spell or ability keeps its original target until this ability resolves. You determine the new target when this ability resolves, at which time the set of legal targets may have changed.

I was just copying similar effects I've seen. I suppose, taking out the may would technically make it better and also free up a little card space.
>>
>>48127449
Wait, so they don't do anything by themselves? That's... not a good idea. I think they should have mechanics that work regardless of where the others are, but are mutually beneficial. Or they just get a boost when the others are on the field. Oh, and I like what you did with the mana costs.

They're running Kozilek/Sun and Moon/Graveyard recursion?

Plenty of reasons not to want to mill, anon

Yeah, I was thinking about that myself. The idea is that they're warring against each other, but I know that isn't depicted well as is, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Also, thanks for noticing. Did the same thing with P/T

Look under "Additional downloads" on the MSE site for flip cards. The walker itself looks pretty lice, but the starting loyalty seems a bit too high for that ult in my opinion.

>I'd be glad to get feedback and advice
It's a value thing. When I see your cards, I see cards which aren't for any sort of competitive play, that bothers me. I know that that seems just like grognardness, and some of it is, but there's more to it.
I've played non-competitively in magic and a variety of games. I hate it, and have mild contempt for people who put me through it.
When I play it is mostly for the sake of learning/thinking, some of it can comes from a desire to prove myself better than another, but I'm fine getting my ass handed to me so that can't be the driving force.
When I've played non-competitively I'm generally considered a try-hard if I think too much, despite the fact that the enjoyment I get from playing a game is in the trying. I can respect the use of try-hard as an insult if you think that more relaxed play is a test of skill (both people need to be giving it most of their all for it to count as that) or by sacrificing fun for a better chance at victory (I generally allow takebacks when it's clear someone fucked up because they didn't fully understand the rules). The social gaming use of the term tryhard is distinct from either of those, it is an actual attack on how engaged I am in the game; the game they want to play isn't designed for engagement and they find my actual focus on the game distracting from their desire to not focus on it. Thus, I've learned to not play non-competitively. Social gamersin my experience have also been outwardly nice and then treat any breach of their rules like you acted in defiance of morality itself.
I don't even think that the members of such social play gain anything besides 'connections' either, it's like they just do an activity that requires input from all members so that they can strengthen the social group without actually being useful to each other.
Maybe you're not like that though. In any case if you aren't designing your cards for competitive play then my opinions can't matter.

Less abuseable/interesting version of evoke? Fine, but meh.
>overcharge
Specific version of replicate/kicker? Also OK, I find it slightly more interesting, but that might just be because I don't play much limited.
>splice onto instant or sorcery
Fine, the test is OP though, you need to add 1 to each mana cost likely.
>radiate
I dislike these linear synergy mechanics, but I seem to be the only one, instant speed draw spells are dangerously uninteractive for control decks, and brainstorm sucks without heavy shuffle effects.
>emanate
At risk of repetitive gameplay, I'd suggest avoiding using it too much at common. Not sure why the cost reduction part even exists, it's the same card advantage/disadvantage either way.
>>
>>48128164
Yeah, they're not meant to be competitive. Truth be told, I rarely actually play Magic, most of my involvement is from a Melvin and Vorthos perspective. I have a faint idea of what makes cards competitive, but that's it. Like, I can acknowledge that Vendilion is powerful, but I'd never know if I didn't hear about it from others. Same with Siege Rhino. Which is exactly why my few forays into deckbuilding have all been an absolute disaster. Anyone who's played me on Chimera can back that up, just ask Kazy. What I'm doing with the CO cards is to try and make accurate representations of things from conics, while also keeping them interesting. If I ever actually tried making something competitive, I'm sure some part of me would say it's either too good or doesn't do enough, thus resulting in an increased mana cost which would destroy any hope the card ever had of being competitive. Sorry to disappoint you, Spike anon. But if you want me to try my hand at a competitive card or you have a specific request, just let me know. Can't guarantee you'll like the end result, but I can try. Because part of the CO cards to is a design exercise. And my skills will never improve if I just do the same thing I always do, right?

Also, I'm surprised you didn't add something like
>inb4 "No fun allowed"

All the cards were merely samplesof mechanics, probably some/all of the actual cards were pretty bad.
>invoke
One of Maro's problems with Evoke was "is that new players just look at the mana cost, realize they can't pay it and stop reading the card" for a higher skill level player like yourself it won't be an issue but for newer players it could be an issue.
I do agree is less abuse able but it does make instant/sorcery creatures, which allows a higher asfan of instant/sorceries.
>overcharge
I was originally going to go with copied five times, however design space is narrower for that.

>splice
That example would probably be 2B for each cost and/or uncommon. I'm pretty sure NNWO would put glacial ray at uncommon.

>radiate
Ok and noted.

>>48128569
Good point. This would probably have to be limited to 2-3 cards at common, more at uncommon and rare. Meant to make it a riff on emerge but it's pretty bad.

Have a playable mechanic.

I wasn't expecting that nice of a reply honestly.
>What I'm doing with the CO cards is to try and make accurate representations of things from conics, while also keeping them interesting
Yeah, I can get that. Knowing that you're not making the cards to actually play with them so much as making them for the art actually makes me respect you a lot more.
>But if you want me to try my hand at a competitive card or you have a specific request, just let me know.
That is painfully sweet but if I've thought of some idea to make something I'm not sure why I wouldn't just make it myself. Noted for if I'm having trouble with something though.
>Because part of the CO cards to is a design exercise. And my skills will never improve if I just do the same thing I always do, right?
That's cool and all, but I feel like you need to keep (mostly) separate the CO designs and whatever competitive stuff you're going to design, because they need to be in separate environments, real or imagined.

Ah, well thank you. I do make cards other than the CO cards, but I do admit, I've done a lot more of the CO cards than anything else. I even tried my hand at a set a few times, but I never got that far into it before I just gave up. Having to make filler just made me want to shoot myself. Hmm, maybe I should take another crack at one.

OK, why not? This is one I started a while ago. It's basically a modern-day setting, but after a zombie apocalypse. Cliche as fuck, I know, but I thought it would be interesting to explore through Magic cards. So, you naturally have the human survivors versus the zombie hordes. I never really fleshed out the whole thing, but the survivors had a strong artifact subtheme, including equipment (pic related). A lot of the artifacts I made for them were one-time use. Survival horror, after all. Oh, and there were -1/-1 counters, since zombie bites are pretty bad. I even had this grandiose plan to make an entire block with three sets (yeah, started it back then), where each set followed more or less the same characters as they survived different disasters. Like, set 2 would be demon invasion, set 3 would be alien invasion. For example, there'd be this guy, Eli, who has a card in each set, as he goes from zombie-killer to demon-slayer to alien-hunter, and gains the relevant Protection abilities along the way.

Yeah, maybe I will try my hand at this again.

Haste seems really weird on a GW card. I mean, I get that it's in Green, but still. Also, why bother with the weird wording on the last ability? Just have it ask for 1GW.
>>
>>48130211
I was actually wondering about that. I wasn't sure if 1GW was correct or not. White for haste and because he's a family guard dog / pet, I guess? So far White has had the most Planeswalker related cards (Call the GW, Deploy the GW) so I included that as well.
>>
>>48130308
White doesn't get haste. Green very rarely gets haste.

Bell counters are mostly a downside, so you can lose the cast restriction and just put the counters as part of the effect. And unless you are being cautious about flash creatures, you can remove the timing restriction. I'd put a 1 mana cost on the second ability so there's some disincentive to clearing out your yard.

I put in the counters initially because I didn't really want the player to be casting the same creature over and over with no repercussion, but also didn't want the other player to be able to exile the creature before casting.

I only now realized that that part was solved when the counter is placed after casting.

Adding the 1 cost is a good idea.
