Infinity is a 28mm scale skirmish game in black ops agents are taught sword and board.

Also, MM is absolutely stunning. Was not planning on replacing my current one, but damn.

>>
>>48107222

In the BOW video it is mentioned that in this version he is "actually holding the shield to protect himself". So they might have it at his side or on his back in the general release.

Last year when they did Van Zant did they show what the standard version was going to look like before Gen Con?
>>
>>48106468
Ariadnians only have access to exosuits on a few units in fluff. Rest of the sphere have them as a matter of course must be frustrating being a bunch of savages compared to the rest of the sphere. .
>>
>>48107406
I'm pretty sure blackjacks are the only true exosuit.

The rest of their HI is just training plus teseum.
>>
>>48107406

They've done alright. In the meantime, they do work, with units that don't need the fancy stuff, and there's always the Nomads and Haqq to make a call if there's something high tech they need in a hurry.

If there was a conventional war, they might well be fucked, but at the present state of conflict, that tech base isn't the limitation it might otherwise have been. And I bet their average soldiers can go blow for blow with anyone in the Sphere.

>>48107273
Ah, that's a shame, but it looks good either way. Maybe we'll even get lucky and the shield will be a seperate piece.
>>
>>48107447

Yeah, that's a good point. Easy access to space!Mithril changes the equation a bit when it comes to protection.

I suspect the primary reason that they don't get 2 W HI is because the higher tech stuff has better medical systems and servomotors. Getting shot in the bicep isn't as big a deal if you're swimming in painkillers and coagulants, and the muscles in the suit keep the arm basically functional one way or another.

A Question.
What kind of Specialist Troops do you need and how many of them? Especially for the scenarios because i dont want to buy two of each just to be able to play.

just played a few games and couldnt find a answer to that.

sorry for my english and fiday butt in return for any answer (i play haqqislam obviously)
>>
>>48107500
Depends massively on the mission. For some, you'll want at least two of each. For others, you'll only need one or two specialists in total.
>>
>>48107500

The value of a given specialist varies with their mobility, survivability, and fighting strength.

Strong specialists can take the place of a number of weak ones.

I'd rather have one Moran Masai or SAS than two Alguiciles with FO.

I'd say have 2 good ones, and 2 backups. By good, I mean tough, agile, or very killy. Infiltrating camo types are great for this sort of work, because they start the game where they need to be, are hard to kill without some effort, and aren't bad at clearing their space if they have to.

Thanks

Haqq is in a pretty damn good place specialist wise.

For a further breakdown of what >>48107558
says, missions where you need to push a lot of buttons is where you want a larger amount of specialists. Missions where you have multiple classifieds, especially when they are worth 2 or more a piece is where you want a wide assortment. Some missions, such as Annihilation and quadrant control, you don't need any specialists at all. Also, you choose your lists after you know the mission and classifieds are drawn.

Haq is uniquely blessed with a plethora of doctors, all with decent WIP. You've got them even on TO infiltrators and multiple HI. Doctors are naturally nice to have if you can revive an important piece and/or with minimal order expenditure.

Engineers are more limited in choice, either the generic one or the Kaplan. That said the Kaplan is an amazing profile. You'll probably want to bring the one with ADHL if you can't pick up D-charges elswhere. Good if you want to repair stuff with structure such as Remotes or the TAG.

Hackers are, similarly to doctors, quite numerous and on a variety of profiles. You'll have to decide on your tactical needs as to which device you want to choose. Assault hacking devices are found on your infiltrators and AD troops. Their main function is to immobilize, isolate, spotlight, and possess hacking vulnerable troops (spotlight can be used on everyone).

Hacking devices are all round devices that are generally found troops that start in deployment. They can do a bit of everthing, spotlighting, immobilizing, possessing, in addition to buffing HI/remotes and packing anti hacker programs.

Killer hacking devices are designed to kill other hackers to the exclusion of everything else. If there are no enemy hackers, it's not much better than specialist operative, with the exception of cybermask. You'll find it as a cheaper option on Barids, Druze, and Govads.
>>
>>48111423
(cont)
EVO hacking device is only on the EVO remote. It's more for buffing remotes and influencing hacking than anything else so generally you'll bring it along only if you have multiple remotes or hackers already.

Barids kind of stand out because they have access to all of the above hacking devices while packing BTS for not much more than the Gulam equivalent. They also pack pitchers which are repeaters that you can shoot at a spot, to extend your reach.

Also, keep in mind you need hackers, EVO, or TAGs to bring remotes.

FOs are probably the cheapest and most numerous specialists. If you are skimping on points and don't need any specific specialists, these are generally the guys you take. They are particularly useful on your infiltrators and line troops, though the Rafiq deserves mention as an excellent toolbox unit. Remember FO get flash pulse which is an excellent ARO piece with good range and a devastating effect.

And finally is specialist operative whose sole function is to allow you to push buttons. Thankfully the only one that has it is the Ayyar and it's on all his profiles. A holo projecting HI with options for surprise shot level 2 and dual viral pistols for under 40 pts? Sign me up.
>>
If you can shoot a smoke grenade as an ARO, does it have to block LoF to the thing that generated the ARO?

I'm asking in case my friend wants to try to shoot smoke grenades to block troops that didn't generate AROs.
>>
>>48111879
and is there a limit to how many smoke templates can be on the field?
>>
>>48111932

No, but you don't usually have a reason to have more than 2.

>>48111879

As long as they aren't doing any sweet 180 throws and throwing it normally yes they can throw/shoot it where they want. It will however make the active model's roll unopposed if it doesn't block LoS to them.
>>
>>48112132

Could try something like this. Uses a decent amount of remotes, practically the entire ISS starter minus two Celestial Guards, is not proxy heavy, and has solid specialists. I know it doesn't have the Hac Tao, but he is really hard to fit in along with a Crane Rank Agent.
>>
>>48113592
It is craziness and silliness to have a 5 order group with your best model in it. Swap SuJian for an 8pt bot. And make those paramedics vanilla Zhanshi Lt decoys unless you want every Fiday/AD badass/ninja/light grenade launcher aimed your way.

That done, you probably need to add an upfield specialist. Karakuri would fit the theme but require list reworking.

So, this "Ramen Task Force" that Carlos mentions in the newest video.

Do we think that's just an alternate name for the Caliphate sectorial or is it a 4th sectorial replacing the Khanate?

If you import it on the android app it works.

Might also work on desktop version, don't know.

I have to ask why so many Paramedics? There is kind of a lack of long range weapons. The Bagh Mari MSR would be good. It also has Minelayer for some backroom protection. How would you feel about the LRL Montesa? That seems like a good budget profile. Noticed the lack of Akali...

Drakios Free Agent ability is kind of useless since he is not in another group, but that's kind of moot. It's just something nice to have.
>>
>>48119449
>Drakios Free Agent ability is kind of useless since he is not in another group

Not the guy who posted the list, I think the point is that if there's no MSV that Drakios needs to hunt in turn 1 you can flip him over and bring Teucer in to do work on Camo/ODD etc targets.

I think it's a good idea, Free Agent really shines when you have two of them fulfilling different roles to give you that little extra versatility on turn 1.

I have a ton of free time this August so I was hoping to get a jump start on painting a few Haqq models before Red Veil's September release. I've been making my way through the rules but don't have a solid grasp of which units are good/necessary yet.

What are some models/model packs that would complement the Red Veil Haqq starter force well? Assume vanilla Haqq for now. Perhaps the support pack?

On a related note, any recommendations for primers that work well with these models?

It largely depends on what models you like and what forces (sectorials) interest you.

Right out of the box, if going the Caliphate route... I would grab a box of Naffatuns, the REMs, and Maggie.

If going Vanilla, I would grab Hunzaqt, Ghazi, Djanbazan, and maybe the Sisters/Kameel depending on your playstyle.

mines!

What you need is to kill both armour, camo, and grouped targets plus a choice of objective grabbers for mission games.

What you have is three grunts who can do anything not very well, breaker rifle dude and the heavy for kicking face, Khawarij for objectives and a sniper who might be better fielded as a doc/hacker.

Ideally you'd add anti camo and another objective grabber. The former could be Djanbazan/Govad or a swarm unit like Mutts. The latter gives you loads of choice, with popular favourites being Hunzakuut, Ragik, Asawira and the still unreleased Ayyar.

There *really* should be rules for shields. The model is aces, but its rules are too bland.
I get that you can't give fucking USAriadna Nanoscreens, but some form of special rule wouldn't be too much to ask for.
>>
>>48122858
For once CB opts for a simple option already i the rules (ARM 4) and not a few pages worth of new rules and exceptions like with every new Tohaa release, and you complain?
>>
>>48122938
Grunts are ARM3 already, so having a massive shield grant +1ARM is boring as shit.
How about +3ARM only from the front? That's concise and to the point while also being slightly engaging at least.
>>
>>48122990
>+3ARM
Meant to type +2ARM.
>>
>>48122938
I'm glad they simplified nanoscreen to just always having partial cover. So much simpler.
>>
>>48122990
This guy isn't a Grunt, he's LI. He'd probably be ARM1 without the shield.

Having a shielded unit be vulnerable to flanking is a cool enough concept, but making a special rule for just one character is a bit wasteful unless it's a game changer like Inspiring Leadership.
>>
>>48122938
Shields would be pretty simple, I feel. And just imagine what you could do with those.
>knights with sword&board

lolno. Two Geckos are more than enough and while TAG with HS is something I'd personally like to see someday (2 HS +x-visor, to be exact), I'd rather see new TAGs, like Blue Wolves.

Well, that would be in line with Bakunin then. A lot of their force consists of police, ironically enough. Even the infamous Uberfallkommando is an undercover cop unit.

Speaking of, I'd really love to find a mini that could be easily converted to look like the tiger girl from this strip to use as an alternate Chimera. Not that I don't like the vixen, but a cat is fine too.
>>
>>48123404
It seems likely. They were originally going to be in White Banner, but the recent dossier showed them as being Invincible Army troops. Maybe CB decided to keep the Daofei out and this is compensation for not having any infiltrators.

An arm buff is basically all you can do without further bloating infinity's special rules.

>>48125556
You dont, the ninja is a CC infiltrator, if you want him to do something else, you need another unit.

Ninjas are great choices already (I play JSA and Vanilla YJ) so if you are improving them, you will have to up their cost.

I get them in combat every 2-3 games, and they do objective work almost every game.

If my opponent puts a Tag or HI in supression, the Ninja is the best way to deal with it.
>>
>>48125517

>>
>>48126160
Nope. 10,180,000 km2 for Europe, 9,833,517 km2 for the US.

ISS Starter built, worst model without a doubt was the aiming CG. In this day and age you'd think they could get a wrist and shoulder to line up correctly to support a weapon...
>>
>>48126317
You including UK?

They don't count anymore.
>>
>>48126298
Not necessarily. The inter-faction cost of infiltrators is pretty janky and we don't know how the CC shit's cost is calculated. It might be a Zerat situation where they cost several more points than they should for no reason.

D-charges alone would be dope as fuck, and those things are free. Speaking as someone who plays both CA and YJ, ninjas really miss out by not having mines, something with similar utility like D-charges could greatly benefit the unit.
>>
>>48126512

Europe technically encompasses parts of Russia and other nations that stretch down towards the middle east.

Ninjas aren't amazingly well rounded as TO units compared to what other factions get, true enough, but they're useful in YJ, particularly for vanilla lists. While YJ does have lots of 2W units, it doesn't have access to a whole ton of defensive mods (-3 equivalent on bikes/guilang/daofei/tiger and bots, -6 on shikami/hac tao/ninjas and the like). Putting aside the shikami, you *could* take the Hac Tao for similar roles to the ninja, but it's also ~70 points.

The Ninja KHD is a solid alternative to the Kanren KHD (they both cost the same amount of points), though the other options are a bit expensive.

Because they'd provide a nice cheap 5 man option which is pretty nice given that the hassassin are usually packing lots of 25+ models. So I have a PanO starter and wanted to run bolts as a link team. With a combination of a bolt box, and converting some of my Starter dudes, I came up with this list for 250. What do you guys think?
>>
>>48134742
Depending on what kind of games your playing. Because that has 0 specialists. Only if you're running annihilation or quadrant control could that stand a chance of winning.
>>
>>48134936
shit I keep forgetting about specialists. What counts as a specialist? Is it specific to the type of mission?
>>
>>48134955

Yes it's specific to the type of mission. But that usually doesn't matter much. Specialists are anyone with teh following skills/equipment: specialist troop, forward observer, doctor/paramedic, engineer, hacker, and chain of command. Sometimes missions require specifiic specialists (e.g. to detonate d-charges you need an engineer) but the above list are your usual suspects and many missions don't discriminate between them, though some classified objectives do.
>>
>>48135065
Thanks for the info.
>>
>>48135084

No problem. Typically if you're making a take-on-all-comers list you want at least one of each type of specialist in your list, so you have chance to tackle any mission/classified objective. If you know the mission(s) ahead of time you can tailor your list more precisely. Forward Observers are typically the most flexible and available of the specialists.

I don't know a ton about PanO but I think you could probably squeeze an upgrade to someone in there with those left over points. Looks a lot better though, since the paramedic Fusilier costs the same as the FO you might consider swapping them if you get a mission needs docs.
>>
>>48135308
I get ya. Another question I had was, since FO's come with deployable repeaters, do they themselves act as repeaters? Do hackers count as repeaters for other hackers? Does hacking break a link team? From my understanding, the rest of the squad just idles.

>>48135198
Some things I think you could change to make the list more adaptive. The changes I state don't really use the bolts veteran status.

You're a bit order starved for the LGL, so I'd drop that and make the fusilier my lieutenant, I'd take out the hacker from the bolt team as you have nothing really to supportware(except fairy dusting your lieutenant).

I'd take out the ORC, that nets you 54 points to play with.

You said you had the starter. I'd proxy the Nisse as a Black Friar, and I assume you have the NCA starter so that gives you a Hexa.
>>
>>48135342

>do they themselves act as repeaters

No, they have to deploy them which is basically a smoke grenade toss or mine placement mechanically speaking. You're a physical repeater if you have the equipment: Repeater such as certain REM units, Combined Ikadrons, etc.

> Do hackers count as repeaters for other hackers

Nope. But all your hackers can act through any repeater.

>Does hacking break a link team? From my understanding, the rest of the squad just idles.

If it's a short order skill then you are correct, the rest of your link team just shuffles around and kicks dirt while the hacker does their thing. It will break the team if you do a full-order supportware however.
>>
>>48135507
I actually do not have a NCA starter but I do want to buy a hexa sniper blister. I really want to run a black friar, but I'm not comfortable running it without a official source for the rules of Albedo (my friend is really a stickler for citing rules)

You can do a full order hacking action now in a link team, they changed that in HSN3.
>>
>>48135864

Oh well shit good to know. You still can't enter a token state like impersonation though right?
>>
>>48135933
No, but you can also use speculative fire in a link now too. It doesn't benefit from the +1 burst mod, but it still gets the +3 BS mod in a 5 man link.

>Can you throw a drop bear over a wall in the active turn, without any enemies being in the immediate range of it?

Yes, you can always use mines etc without enemies being in range of it, however if there is no revealed enemy in range, and there is an enemy camo token in the trigger area, you can't use the drop bear at that location (normally you could opt to intuitive attack with mines, but not with drop bears)

To throw "over a wall" would likely be an intuitive attack because you won't have LOF to the target spot, this would mean you are at -6 for your throwing roll in addition to normal range mods.

>Do you get the team bonuses when throwing the mine?

Yes, so with 3 members you can throw 2 drop bears at once, and with 5 members you get +3 to your PH for the throw. Remember you can only split fire in the active turn, so if you react with throwing 2 drop bears, it has to target a single point.

>How can an enemy dispose of a mine?

Drop bears are deployed as mine tokens, unlike normal mines which start out as camo tokens.

To remove a drop bear an enemy could use an engineer to deactivate it with their Deactivator, a Minesweeper to steal it, or just shoot it to destroy it. All these things require the mine to be revealed from camo first.

Same guy here, I should clarify, this is specific to drop bears, they are a throwing weapon so fall under BS attacks, laying a mine is technically a different skill and doesn't get the link bonuses, so you can't lay 2 normal mines at once.

Do they generate AROs?
>>
>>48135933
Just remember that when you do a full order skill like spec fire or supportware, it still activates the entire team triggering AROs.

>>48136546
Yes. You're still activating the team.
>>
>>48136961
i mean the mines
>>
>>48136546
The models acting would, but the mine itself wouldn't. So if you throw it over the wall the enemy can't do anything.

However, if the acting model is within 8" they can change facing as normal.
>>
>>48137019
Also remember the mine goes down at the end of the order, so they wouldn't trigger the mine with an ARO on the order the mine was placed.

Would be important to mention Albedo only works on the first turn.

Not a problem. Let us know what you like!

Im reading that to dodge a deployable weapon requires a PH -3 roll. Is there a reason for this? Under dodging template weapons
http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Dodge
>>
>>48137193
also, can you dodge a template on your active turn? the rules state you can't move, so what happens if you get targeted by a template weapon
>>
>>48137193
It makes mines better.

Ex: You declare Move, they declare template weapon, you declare dodge.

If you pass, you don't move but you take no damage from the attack.
>>
>>48137204
To dodge a template you declare your first short skill, wait for the ARO and then declare dodge. If you declared a long skill and someone shot you with a template then you're shit out of luck.

My friend has ordered the Onyx box, and he wants to know what a good box/blister is that he could buy while waiting for it to be delivered.
>>
>>48137018
The mines do not ARO, but they have their own effects. Whenever, a model or enemy marker executes an Order or ARO in the trigger zone of a mine, the mine explodes automatically. So the mines can go off on the turn it was planted.

For example Naga stays out of LoF and places a mine around the corner in sight of a nearby enemy Alguaciles. New Order: Naga peeks out. Alguaciles AROs and shoots and the Naga. The Naga fires back, and mine goes off as well.

Drop Bears are a little different so make sure you read up on them

>If you pass, you don't move but you take no damage from the attack.

Just to clarify cause this reads a bit confusingly, you do get the move from your "Move" declaration still, you just don't get the 2 inches a successful dodge gives you in ARO

Noctifers, Malignos, Doc Worm and the Unidron SWC box are staples. The Sphinx and Xeodrons are good heavy hitters.

I would add Ikadron/Imetron.
