I actually started my campaign using tarot cards, just had my players pick some face down and bullshitted my way through. I didnt use the real interpreations, just my first thoughts when i saw it.
EG strength and lovers meant that the person would gain massive power but give it up for thoese he loves.
Likely wont come true but it will be fun to see if i can pull it off, if not then i can say that the lovers is the only card that can break fate.

I do readings for fun and inspiration. Rider-Waite and Celtic Cross with no significator, so as basic and scrubby as it gets, but I usually only need something to jumpstart my pathetic brainmeats and not a proper reading.

Thematically sure, I like the major arcana and how that can be used for character creation/development.

Forgot to add that one game I really wish was translated is Tokyo NOVA. It uses Tarot cards for setting up scenes in the game and character classes are represented by cards as well.

it wasn't until the late 18th century that tarot decks were used by occultists.
There are more different tarot cards then say playing cards in a poker deck. So it would be good for greater randomization.
Tarot cards are the ideal size for RPG spell cards since you won't run out space for spell descriptions.

When the hell did you run into the problem of a single normal deck not giving you a sufficient range of outcomes?
There's this JRPG Called Tokyo nova who's character creation and special skills revolve around drawing tarot cards.
It upsets me for the life of me that I cant find a copy
