>"If we can get 10 experience points now, is it worth worrying about getting 100 experience points later?"
Depends.

Nothing in your statement says that the options are mutually exclusive, so no, nothing to worry about. We're still getting 110 xp in the end.

The hundred isn't guaranteed, and trying to gain it makes getting the 10 less of a sure thing.
Depends on the system.
Worrying about XP as a reward is meaningless because the GM can make challenges as unfair as he deems appropriate for the story, and it's possible to run a great game without character advancement at all.
There should never be grinding in a tabletop RPG. The necessary number of enemies fought and quests fulfilled per level up is only a suggestion. If you seriously anticipate the amount of XP a given course of action will net you, and that affects your character's choices, you deserve nothing.

XP was a mistake.
Depends on how far into the future this 100 exp will be, and what your expected ROI is.
>>47819115
It's always worth worrying about the future.

But what if you're from the future?
Shouldn't people from the future worry about the past?
>>47820652
No. Because people from the future are people from the present in the future, and people in the present shouldn't worry about the past.
