Damn, I'll say. I've only successfully recruited one player through a game finder thread. He seemed really great, polite, decently friendly, paid attention, actual roleplayed. Had a few fun sessions, then he just up and cut off all contact.
>>
Did my post get deleted or did this thread die and get remade with the same picture in the last 12 hours?

I come here to try and get players but barely anyone has any interest aside from a very specific ruleset or game theme they'll never get.

I'd prefer if these threads kept on going though..
>>
>>47817297
>I'd prefer if these threads kept on going though..
Why? You said yourself they're totally useless.

You might think this thread only occupies one slot in on the board, but think of what else could be on the front page? What else could people see in its place in the catalog? No matter where on the board it is, it's displacing something.
We don't need useless or bad threads - and I'd say Game Finder is both.

If you can't sustain even one thread, you need to die.
>>

So? That was three years ago.

Game Finder has withered since, and now it's time to quietly die.

>>
>>47817337
/tg/ has always been universally rubbish unless its your specific favourite game. I ignore every single thread on /tg/ aside from gamefinder threads. I used to follow the Warhammer ones then Age of Sigmar happened.

So yeah.
>>47817347

>>

>/tg/ has always been universally rubbish
Okay, see - you aren't /tg/ any more.

I enjoy /tg/. All of it. So do hundreds of other people.
If you don't like it, leave. Take this useless thread with you.
>>
>>47817384
>useless
nope
>>
>>47817384
There are basically no other places to maybe get good players. R20 applicants are all about Mary Sues, and I don't even know any others.

I've been on /tg/ for years at this point. And I'm sorry but its always been bad. Its always been to serve a purpose. DnD/Pathfinder threads, Warhammer threads, or Magic threads and etc.. Every so often there are good threads like World-builder threads but they're not active at all (more than these though I guess).

Another function is too find players. This thread serves a function, if you don't again why the bumps?
>>
>>47817384
You just have a hateboner for this thread, if it kciks off some quest threads, I am happy.
>>
>>47817401
>nope
Yep. Look at this thread. Look at every thread for the past I don't know how long. Month? Six months?

No one finds games here any more. And if they do, they drop them after a session or two.
I don't know how many of you people I've burned through.

Please just stop. Give up already.
>>47817411

Look you fucking loser, Quests are the best thing /tg/ has had to offer in a half decade. Go fuck ytourself. Idiot.

It has reached the point where try (and succeed) to intentionally trigger people off in order to bump the thread and keep it alive.

Me and two other Anons are looking for 2 or 3 more people to join us for some Shadowrun 5E. We'll be using Roll20 and it'll probably be Chat Only.
We don't have a GM yet, but I can act as one in case nobody else is willing.
We don't have a set time or date yet, so we can discuss that at a later date.
Also, please note that for one of our players, this will be their first time playing a tabletop RPG.
Please let me know in a reply if you're interested.

I'm refereeing a Twilight 2000 game. Edition 2.2

Got 3 other players but 1 is away this weekend and another is away until late July. Plus, the more the merrier.

We're three 3 sessions in.

Twilight 2000 is set in an alternate timeline where the Cold War never ended, and got hot instead. The players are the survivors of years of an international nuclear and conventional war that wiped out around 90% of the world's population. Most survivors are preoccupied with basic subsistence and defending themselves against marauders armed with weapons left over from the war... Some are soldiers, still fighting for the future of humanity, or maybe because that's all that makes sense anymore.

Game is set in war-torn Poland, during the springtime fighting season between what's left of NATO and the Red Army.

Email me at [email protected] if interested
>>

>>
>>47818005
>>47820671
Maptool, looking at Saturday afternoon/evening, and I intend that only text will be needed to play. Voice may be an optional extra for chatter.

I'm targeting tier 3-4 and putting my thumb on the scale with a couple of broad measures such as "no starting with spells or powers over level 1". I'm not outright banning wizards, but a starting wizard PC would be the most experienced wizard in the known world, and neophytes would want to crib your notes for spell research. If you want better spells, you'd have to go looting the meteor-striked ruins of wizard colleges smashed in the God Wars. Mind the guardian demons. Likewise, the Ascendant crushed possible competing godlings before transcending to a higher plane of existence, so clerics are short on powerful patrons.

Also, after I posted previously, one of the other players requested skill consolidation, so I'm planning on using this thing I had lying around from a while ago: http://pastie.org/private/7yhnyfm3ucni4lz0gbfqw
>>
>>47820306
We're playing tomorrow evening for our next session, and I'm in the California time zone.

I had a player up and quit because his grandpa died. That's understandable and all, but I found myself asking why the hell he signed up for commitments like this instead of spending time with him if he was so close to death.
>>
>>47823630
I had a player drop out without a word, despite how I tried contacting him repeatedly for weeks.

When he finally got back to me, he said his parents house caught on fire. So I figured, okay, maybe he's preoccupied helping them out.

Didn't stop him from constantly playing Steam games while ignoring any and all attempts at remaining in contact for over a month, often times during game times, until I finally gave up and just kicked him from the campaign.

How many games are too many games?

I'm currently in 7 games, 2 of which I run out of the 3 that are played on a weekly basis.
>>
>>47829994
Jesus Christ how horrifying

Two games at a time is usually my limit (though I'm usually GMing one of them). I can occasionally do three at a time but not if any of them are going to be really long campaigns.

What's your success rate with that kind of schedule? Do you actually stay committed to all those games?
>>
>>47830104
At least 5 of them are with IRL friends who each have complicated schedules so we end up playing different games depending on who's free. Usually no more than one game a week though. It's easy to stay committed with a good group, but the wait is rough sometimes.

The 2 weekly ones with NEET groups are more frequently played but the commitment is lesser.
>>
>>47829994

What is the preferred method of online play?

Personally, I prefer text only. I've mostly stuck to Roll20 this past year, since every other program with an online map gives me recurring firewall issues.

Voice would conceivably be faster, but I just can't talk enough to DM. Tried it before and I had a sore throat for days after.

Is there a more active way to find players than dropping an ad and waiting on an e-mail? Like a chat room where I could say the premise of the game and see if it catches any immediate interest?

Oh, possible GM here. There's various systems I'd interested in running so I just wanna list them down, see if anything catches interest, so I can see what I should run.

Monster Hearts

The Farm

Nemesis

Digimon Digital Adventures

A Dirty World

Savage Worlds ( I'm open to what to play in it, but I'm still disappointed we never got Red Rising. So I'd maybe like to run a campaign where the party are communists maybe trying to start a revolution, fight counter revolutionaries, have soviet space adventures, etc.)

Could be fun, I've been wanting to try it.

Yeah, better then trying to explain parrying, skill groups, skill caps, spell lists, body development and power point fatigue to a bunch of ADHD internet kids incapable of learning something that doesn't give them immediate satisfaction.

I'm not too hugely into this, but there's another ORE game I'm looking for a GM for called Monsters & Other Childish Things.

So many programs.. I recommend Tabletop Simulator, Roll20, or even Vassal

I already use Roll20
I'm just wondering how does the part of painting minis and making scenary translates into a virtual tabletop? And if it does not then one makes an army out of stock photos?
>>
>>47859648
>Roll20
That's fine and dandy.
>painting minis and making scenary
You can make tokens or even full models with a slew of programs. You can also make backgrounds and maps.
If you do wish to be lazy, then you can just use stock photos and whatnot.. I did it during an Only War campaign.

I've actually used Roll20 to play a Fire Emblem wargame.. which later devolved into a 4e campaign.

Anyone interested in running any mecha games? I'd love to play in one.

Making my own tokens and maps is something I already tought of, I should get into making them now.

That sounds damn interesting.

It wasn't, we were playing FEd20 and everyone liked the story but the characters weren't easy to roleplay and whatnot, so everyone wanted a different game that still have tacticool combat and balanced gameplay.

what kind of wargames we talking here? 40k, COIN or napoleon: tactics?

This would be more fitting of the 5-star 4chan player quality if it were rendered in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8i_a6F_K0I 's likeness

I know I am a cancerfag, but is anyone looking for a player in a ponyfinder or mlprpg?
>>
>>47867231
I am 99% sure that if a term like Ponyfinder exists, /mlp/ RPs enough that you can look for a group over there. So you should do that, where your efforts are far more likely to bear fruit.
>>
>>47846516

I'd play all of those. Though if I had to pick two I'd go with monsterhearts and digimon.
>>
>>47867231
>>47867437
90% sure /mlp/ has a board games general, at some point.

Hold on, are you telling me there's an actual published Fire Emblem system?
But I spent months creating my own from scratch.
Kill me.
>>
>>47872159
>actual published
There isn't, though there are multiple homebrew attempts. Some better than others. Which is true of virtually every concept, really.
>>
>>47872243
You wouldn't happen to know of any Drakengard homebrews, would you? I'm considering making one myself and making it intentionally unbalanced to reflect how fucked up and unfair the Drakengard setting is.
>>
>>47872334
>and making it intentionally unbalanced to reflect how fucked up and unfair the Drakengard setting is.
This sounds like it would end up being so bad that it would be good. Just like the Drakengard series.

I'd play it.

I can/want to play more systems than what I've listed, I'm happy to be a team player and fill any role gap. I hope to play in a lot of great games.
>>
>>47816672
Text should be bigger and have a different color to stand out more, maybe placed at the top, but otherwise it works great. Even the broken leg plays it up, because a lot of gamefinders start out promising and then you're hobbled and left for dead.
