It's not really my favorite anime, though I like it a lot, but I think the tower of druaga is very /tg/ related, though pretty japanese when it comes to the rpg related things.
Just have a look at these openings and the great J-Ska

Fullmetal Alchemist is a pretty great industrial fantasy anime with a good magic system.

All of them. I delight in stealthily inserting anime references into my games and characters, right under the noses of my anime-hating group.

In specific titles, then SDF Macross and Dougram, for being good in their own right and for having their mecha designs lifted by Battletech.

While Takahashi took liberties with a lot of his Real Robot series, I always liked how the protagonists in the show legitimately look and act like soldiers. I, myself, am working on a campaign that combines the aesthetics of Gasaraki with the paranormal aspects of F.E.A.R.

You could literally say any anime is /tg/, because you can roleplay anything, you retarded mongoloid. 90% of the anime any /tg/ nerd will find entertaining is probably shitty anyway, just look at the """stories""" in the RPG's they already play. I get that you just wanted a recommendation thread, so why not just go over to /a/ or /m/, or dare I even say the actual request board?

I don't know about /tg/ but's /a/'s is totally Outbreak Company.

It's not an anime, but /tg/ seems to have a love-hate relationship with Dungeon Meshi depending on who are on and shit posting at the time.

As far anime, Overlord tends to make part of /tg/ content, and another part of /tg/ writhe in rage due to it being another 'Trapped in a game/transported to another world' troped anime/manga/light novel.

/tg/ unlike most of 4chan actually has people which strongly dislike anime on it. There are plenty of people here that still do enjoy anime, but there is an striking large /tg/-population which shuns it completely.

So: "No", the answer is no OP.

You mean there's four faggots.
Basically, that's it. There's four faggots that have taken root, and they need to always complain about the two things that set them off: D&D and anime.

Why they are here is a mystery, but the general rule is to ignore them.
Also, do us a favor, and fuck off already.

Honestly I've had trouble getting into new anime series this decade. When I was young I really enjoyed the stuff YTV and Teletoon had like Evangelion, Escaflowne, Cybersix, and Wolf's Rain. I tried watching some newer stuff like Iron-Blooded Orphans which had great production and I should have liked it but it just failed to resonate with me like it used to.
>>

Overlord sets itself apart by the virtual world entrapment being intentional. Read the LN for more on the life in Overlord's reality. It's basically Cyberpunk 2020 on goddamn steroids.

There's still plenty of great series, it's just that we're no longer teenagers and there's less series that target older demographics.

It's the only show I know of to treat the whole premise of "trapped in an RPG world" seriously and with respect. Granted, it gets a bit slow in the second season DEEEEEEEN!!, but it's still one of the most intriguing executions of the concept I've seen yet.

Any anime that's like low fantasy sword and sorcery with epic adventures and shit, gritty but not depressing, with heroic but not perfect characters and a bit less of the whole "saving the world" thing?

I used to frequent /a/ alot, it nearly destroyed my life. After trying hard to fit in for years, watching their shit taste, my cognitive dissonance manifested itself as a complete breakdown, dropping out of college and deleting my insane anime collection. Now, I am back on track, and all has been forgotten, so my list remains the same after all these years, and those babby-tier intellectuals on /a/ can choke on their own shitty harem novels. Anyway, it's been a while since I last saw any anime because truly I hate it, but here's what I remember:

>Neon Genesis Evangelion
Great series to watch before you turn 16, and good fap-material and quasi-intellectual food after. It has a ridiculuous staying power through its fine choice of waifus.
>Cowboy Bebop
Excellent soundtrack, characters, and overall art direction. If you like jazz and rogue traders/bounty hunters in space, this is the show for you. It has an episodic plotline used to explore either the world, or the characters, and display Spike's unwillingness to change his destiny and himself.
>Hellsing
Pretty cool, especially if you are into vampires. Again, good music, and great, though a bit stale, characters. What really shines here is the sharp art.
>Battleship yamato
Another sci-fi classic, the remake series is very decent. I know many of you are into wh40k's battlefleet gothic, and the combat scenes here are very similar, using submarine and naval tactics all over the place.

It is slow. Always. It is never not slow at any point. It is a high quality treatment of the setting, but lags a bit in entertainment value.

Thankfully you can watch either version, both original and Brotherhood are quite well done.

Brotherhood is truer to the manga, yeah?

Yeah, because the first series was made while manga was still halfway through so the screenwriter followed the part and then just winged the rest somehow.

>Gundam series
There's so much gundam, some are good, some are bad. You really have to like mechs to watch them all, but I'd say you can't go wrong with at least trying. This is sort of true for any mech shows, especially those involving kid pilots, except in the cases where the mechs really are irrelevant to the show. Tengen toppa la gurren, diebuster, escaflowne, rahxephon, lelouch of the rebellion etc. there are so many. If you can't accept that kids pilot giant robots,at least many of them have good waifus. Some even have NTR, vampire mechs, and of course harems with sexually braindead MCs.

This is actually a manga, but it's really good satire of gambling, and makes you think twice about what it means for a character to develop, and especially it has some really unsettling and energetic moments. If you like gambling, you will probably love this, mostly. Some of it is actually kind of outright bad. It has some anime as well, and a crappy live-action tribute.

Yeah, outside of the generals dedicated to certain ongoing series (where everyone's more amicable because other than the occassional shitposter everyone's there because they watch and enjoy the same show) /a/ tends to be pretty hostile. Now that you mention it, it's actually pretty sad that some people probably have been driven to suicide, or at least pushed over the edge, by /a/.

KISAMA!
Well, I like Kabaneri too, kind of. I just think that Mumei feels out of place. It doesn't feel like a ninja loli matches the overall tone of the show. It's nothing new in anime, but in this particular series she stands out like a sore thumb.

Almost any anime can be made /tg/-related through the existence of tabletop games which share their setting, and I don't think you can find a single anime/manga that i mentioned which isn't similar to some integral part of whatever obscure subset of tabletop games which do match this- Unless you are looking for an anime about people playing tabletop games exclusively, or arguing on imageboards, in which case I am certain there are relatively few, but you would probably look into high-school setting anime with weird after-school clubs.

You'll find dissenting opinions everywhere on pretty much everything. Sometimes I like to go on /tg/ and complain about 3.5pf even though I love the system for all its flaws and imbalances and consistently play it with friends and have a good time. But, you know, switch to GURPS or kill yourself.

>>47777625
>related
No.

Tekkonkinkreet and Lain are both on the list, so I guess they're sort of Shadowrun but I've never played that system and I'm going to guess that they aren't.

Tatami Galaxy and Eve no Jikan probably can't be RPed at all. Otaku no Video is flat out impossible.

There is only one do-able one, which is the first part of Memories which is a sci-fi setting where a group of asteroid miners (or something?) answer a distress call on an abandoned Titantic-style luxury station and find that it's haunted by the ghost of an opera singer.

I give Hokuto a 9, it's not my favorite anime, but it's definitely the most do-able.

Princess Arete is the only daughter of a king who's basically trying to marry her off to the finest knight he can find- they bring all sorts of treasures both magical and mundane to impress dad.

One day a wizard literally comes down in a flying da vinci helicopter. The Wizard turns her into an "idealized" princess and fucks off with her to his tower where he keeps her prisoner because he's BORED.

Princess Arete eventually manages to remove the spell on her own and the rest of the story is her basically fucking over this wizard and saving the village he's taken hostage for 3 generations.

It's not a complicated story, but it looks good, it's cozy and the world it takes place in is visually pleasing and interesting.

But its cool when its satire and/or ironic, you see?

That's because Claymore started to suck.

There is none. Konosuba is a satire of the very thing you're describing, which is why instead of bothering to go out and explore a cliché fantasy world, establish connections with all relevant factions and beat down the BBEG it focuses on a small cast of characters that's stuck in the starting town, where they try to find a way to establish their livelihood and protect their newfound home.

I'm not sure if what I watch is "/tg/ anime" in the sense it isn't traditional fantasy anime but I think it appeals to those who like RPGs.
Here's my top nine anime from left to right.
>Steins;Gate: A university student accidentally invents the ability to send text messages back in time, in usual time travel fashion this fucks shit up. One of the best time travel stories I've read and the main character is fucking amazing.
>Planetes: A hard sci-fi show about a group of space garbage collectors who recover debris and space junk, which has become a serious issue (even today people are saying space junk will cause problems in the future). Focuses on the theme of humanity a lot more than you would expect and there's some neat worldbuilding to go along with it.
>Shin Sekai Yori: In a future where humans developed extremely potent telekinetic/pyrokinetic/psychic powers, to combat the fact that everyone can now immolate dozens people with a thought Death Feedback reigns people in and makes them feel sick at the idea of hurting another human, and causes their body to shut down if they actually do try to kill someone. Very good worldbuilding in this one.
>Baccano!: Immortal mobsters running around in 1930s New York, the story takes place simultaniously at different points in time, jumping back and forth along the timeline of events and shifting perspective. Has a huge cast of lovable characters who are basically all Player Characters in one way or another
>Sora no Woto: A show about a small military detachment at a town near the border between two nations with a tech level resembling that of WW1/2. There's a fuckton of stuff to analyse and examine to find out more about the world, it's very "show, not tell" in it's approach.
>Fate/Zero andFate/Stay Night: Heroes of myth and legend are summoned by mages in modern day Japan for an all out battle royale as part of a ritual to summon "The Holy Grail", an emmensely powerful magical artifact can basically grant wishes.

It's basically a bad combination of Berserk and DBZ. You've got DBZ's power level/chosen character/ultra super DOUBLE saiyan bullshit, and Berserk's angst, mook butchery, and those who hunt monsters stuff but without any of the commitment. Most of the characters have a hairstyle and a gimmick and that's about it, the narrative won't stop jerking off to how noble and tragic they are, and every reveal makes you wish the author had just kept it a spoopy mystery forever.

Like every shit series, it "has some interesting ideas," but it's something you harvest for concepts or watch because you're out of other options, not run to as a first resort.

>Psycho-Pass: Futuristic cyberpunky dystopia in which drones and scanners constantly monitor people's "psycho pass", which is a measure of current mental composure and health. The system, called Sybil, assigns people something called a crime coefficient, which measures how likely a person is to commit a crime. When someone's CC gets too high they are deemed a latent criminal, Minority Report style, and medicated/incarcerated. The story follows a new investigator in the Ministry of Public Safety.
>Toradora: The greatest love story ever told. Not really /tg/ anime.
>Cromartie High: Extremely hilarious comedy about a school full of delinquents. Features Freddie Mercury as a character. Despite that it's not particularly /tg/

Bikini Warriors is better, shorter and funnier than QB.

It didn't start out with all the DBZ shit. That came along as the series progressed. Claymore was decent for roughly a volume.
