"Hey Jacky, what's your opinion on Tanks?

We want to develop Boom Tanks, tanks with the same firepower and capability as Long Range Artillery or Anti-Air heavy Flak guns. Each tank able to support each other despite being separated by distance or obstacles using telepathy to guide long range shots.

We're debating on the cost effectiveness of various designs.

We could focus on a medium tank that can be produced en masse and in greater numbers, allowing more of our population to become pilots and for us to field more tanks quickly and with fewer resources. It may also mean more firepower by number. We could focus of many tanks rolling toward the enemy. But this could mean more casualties.

Or we could focus on Heavy Tank and Super Tank design. We'd be able to make less of them for more resources, but they would be sturdier, able to resist damage, and carry bigger guns and payloads and a heavier shield. Rather than having them come in waves, they would form teams of well formed breakthrough tanks supported by even heavier designs. We hope this might mean less casualties."

I am reminded of the Brood Bandit civ where we had a very hard time fighting back the enemy Corps Heavy Tanks, and only did so due to the ferocity of our Brood and allies.

"A particularly good and adaptable design is the flack cannon tank. While not very useful against other armored its fantastic against air and infantry which it shreds. As for artillery the best ones I heard of is the missile or Gauss tank. Missile tanks being cheap their payload being a single heavy and controlled missile firing out from its cannon. Basically more along the lines of a guided smart payload. Its ammo is more expensive then usual but it can have some very nice supporting effect. For the real nasty ones Gauss Tanks win hands down. Their power is such they can be both a frontline fighter or serve as an artillery role and best of all the ammo is cheap. Alas the tech is not."

"If you wish to keep casualties low drones and super heavies are the way to go. Problem with super heavies is the energy costs. There is a reason why its pretty much granted they'll all be equipped with a mini reactor to power themselves with. They really are such huge energy hogs. Even now my forces can't afford to use too many of the damned things."

We actually have a design for a Boom Tank. The Turret is supposed to be capable of extreme angles, and can fire both artillery shells and explosive flak shells for AA capability.

"It might even incorporate the SAMFAP system allowing it to fire with speeds like an Autocanon.

The shells could even be guided by our Psionic pilots given the right training and some technological tweaks."

We have a theory on their potential deployment as well.

The "Psionic Overwatch Integrated-Network Targeting" or POINT is meant incorporate psionic tank pilots in telepathic communication over long distances.

With such a system, any psy sensitive person or tank that engages or spots an enemy can instantly and telepathically transmit usable targeting info and data to any other MBT-01 within artillery range. Information on enemy type, altitude, longitude, latitude, and movement of the target will be transmitted in live time directly into both the mind and targeting computers of the allied tanks.

Automatically our pilots and tanks target the hostile and fire upon it from range, using the info given to select the type of shell the angles of fire. In addition they will be able to use their psionic powers to directly oversee and guide a shell as it falls for even more accuracy when needed, or simply fire as fast as possible if firepower is required.

All of this reduces precious time wasted having to transmit data to a central artillery command, calculation, and then retransmitting that data back to the artillery unit in question. It also means that any enemy in range of one tank will be in range of the other tanks in an area even without a direct line of sight.

This inclines me to believe that we really should focus on Super Heavy Tanks and more SST's and Behemoths, with drones to support them.

I'm not sure what kind of drones or what the role of the drone protection should be. Perhaps BANE has an idea.

The increased size means it will be practical to install SAMFAP's on them for sure. Perhaps we can consider a Dual Cannon or Gatling Cannon system for rapid firepower allowing it to tackle both infantry and aircraft with deadly rapid firepower.

Besides some damaged defenses and a large pile of looted bodies. The only other major damage would appear to be the various systems and most importantly its industrial ability has been thoroughly crippled. Most likely done by its previous inhabitants before they fell ensuring their tech wouldn't fall into the hands of the enemy.

Fortunately we ourselves had the means to bring back all those systems no matter how damaged or crippled.

The entire area is criss crossed by canyons. Normally I wouldn't show other areas until an forces are sent over but due to location on top of a mountain+megatower vastly increased detection range showed. I had to spoil the nearby terrain types.

The closest thing to giant humanoid robots outside of tournaments is heavy power armor. Sorry but I couldn't bullshit humanoid mechs beyond the point of games. The weakness of the joints and only two legs is just too much. Militaries aren't willing and even the corps only use them for games.

Because seeing two giant robots beat the ever living shit out of each other is very entertaining. So they actually bothered to work on developing tech for them. SO technically they DO exist in game. Before the Fall however they were slated for games and few niche uses.

But mind you this was BEFORE the Fall. Post Fall the very real fact of the mechs being designed for combat and the heavy losses of other techs with the popular scavenging of old world techs seeing their use can't be surprising.

Other methods include teleport. Jetpacks(or to be more precise they were used to slow down droppers so they didn't go squish but at the same time speed up their deployment so they didn't get shot down). The jetpack assisted jumps were HUGE for paratroopers. They fucking LOVED the goddamn things(because parachutes tend to be rather big SHOOT ME unlike the much smaller and stealthier jetpacks). Despite the fact they were considered rather...explosive. Drop Jetpacks forever earned a place in the hearts of paratroopers everywhere. To the point that a very common marker for paratroopers was to actually get a tattoo of a jetpack and those who aren't paratroopers who got jetpack tats were guaranteed an ass kicking.

The closest thing to speedy dropships were either jetpack assisted jumps(which paratroopers fucking loved the damn things for obvious reasons), drop pods, Repulsion shields, or gravity cannon.

For what your after your best bet is a hi tech gravity cannon, repulsion shields, or jetpacks. Repulsion shields were actually an accidental discovery in their application of dropships which as it turned out they were fantastic at assisting in drops.

Teleporters are tricky. Often enough requiring either psions or magi to be present to pull off. If that wasn't possible it was common to acquire psi, magitech, or super tech to do it with.

Fortunately for us we have a super genius on hand to pull it off. Mindy however states the tech required is going to be expensive requiring psi materials and even then only enough will be manufactured for 1 of our units.

Apparently even Mindy herself is lacking know how to do it with ordinary tech and resources.

Unfortunately you only possess the power armor tech and plasma tech of your home megacorp.

The good news is however among those blueprints include what was used for certain paramilitary forces that were 'affiliated' with your home megacorp. In other words you posses the power armor and plasma weaponry of your megacorps private armies.

To elaborate on our end goal

We will continue to expand and develop different bases, preferably bunkers and military establishments, alongside our continuing ally BANE. Each of these bases we will construct and install the SAMFAP artillery defense networks so that they are all each capable of supporting each other through massed long range fire and connecting them through underground railroad networks.

Once we have sufficiently established enough bases and developed a decent military comprising of tanks, power armor, psions, and whatever other fancies we want. But more importantly, we should have multiple bases and enoguh actions to do large and extravagant projects. Perhaps by allying the survivors for manpower and resources and upgrading our technology

Once we have a sufficiently large industrial base, we'll do air recon again and find a region that is either the most surrounded by mountains or the least intersected by canyons, with a nice place in the middle. Yes, the maginot valley idea that was proposed last thread, except by this time we can actually have the strength to take and hold it. We will use Bane and our military to clear it out, our superior industrial capability to dam up the canyons with huge concrete dams, and then arm the mountains and surrounding hills with defenses and military positoins.

The center we will turn into a green and fertile place to live and work in using our aquifer, possibly draining them and using them to fill lakes and such within the (dammed) canyons.

We won't take the whole area, that's both a pipedream and hey, where would we be without conflict to profit from, but we will have a nice sweet sweet spot to live in and protected by multiple bases and a slew of tanks, power armor, and maybe a giant robot here or there.

We aren't sure what kind of science JAL may have thought we needed help in so it might be time to scream and run.

the CEO meanwhile enjoyed a fruitless run only to come back and find the Bane Company making a delivery. According to them its going to be the final one as they undergo restructuring.

Apparently they finally succeeded in luring a robot force over and the mutants turned out to be easier then expected. So while they are digesting the new forces they are also going over their old forces given the extensive losses and started up repairs.

They did however deliver a large amount of resources and tech. Mostly industrial with a few other techs mixed in. Materials meanwhile they didn't claim not possessing any but said that will come in a later shipment once they are done reforming.

JAL in simplified terms is actually a research assisting AI. Whose original specialty was hybrid technologies.

That was when everything went to hell though.

Now he is still a research hero(in fact his range of research specialties is amazing) but he also got forcefully converted/spliced into a Combat, Command, MAD/corrupted and Stealth along with special type hero all of which is spliced/mixed up together with bio and metal focus for it all.

The truth is JAL is an insanely adaptable hybrid hero but suffered all kinds of penalties getting that way and his heroic abilities honestly haven't been upgraded all that much. If they did JAL would be a HELL of a lot more terrifying.

Basically think of him like the swiss army knife of heroes as there is virtually no hero type JAL hasn't at the very least dabbled in. Such heroes are extremely rare even before the Fall but are infamously pain in the ass to deal with. I mean SURE they might not be particularly powerful a foe but fucking hell are they HUGE pain in the ass to deal with due to their adaptability.

Which also means it would actually be quite impressive to find an action where JAL CANNOT help with in some capacity. Yes that means exactly what you think it means. Honestly surprised he wasn't used more given his absurd adaptability.

One of the most horrifying quirks of those 'penalties' is how they interacted together in such a fashion that technically speaking they cease to be a penalty but more a benefit with side effects or a double edged sword.

Yeah JAL is THAT fucking crazy.

This is because I actually have certain 'hidden' penalties or bonuses with things along with my design that too much of a good or bad thing will result in the opposite appearing to make it a 'bit' more balanced. The official revealed rule example of this being the rule of 3 which helps counter dice hate.

I do that way to keep things from becoming too lop sided and make interesting.
