What are some good units to help Outlander Black Shield builds succeed?
Is it better to take fewer, larger squads since they can rally under 50% and to prevent the "if you lose half your squads each squad has to test or be removed" clause? I wanted to take many small squads like 40K MSU so I can get more wargear per squad and because they are weaker in general so I want to minimize the amount of marines I lose in one salvo of shooting, but I'm afraid that will be a terrible strategy.

You can have WS6 BS5 S5 T5 W2 Ld10 using +2S AP2 Two-Handed weapons at I5 with shaft-mounted Paragon Bolters (AND ASSAULT LASCANNONS), as long as you price them appropiately.
After all, the totally OP squad I just described can be countered with Dreads, Medusae or plasma, more so if for each squad of them the enemy can bring two or three Cortus dreads.

The primary detachment will be 30k Mechanicum, with Skitarii added on so they can all be one big happy robotic/cyborg family. Will people have issues with me allying that way? The whole point seems to be extreme specialization over actual skill. Regardless Sonic could take both, use the sabre for fun or use the paragon blade when he faces someone serious just like Sergeant Hatred of the World Eaters could take a Paragon Blade and twin falax blades so he can get 7 AP 2 attacks on the charge for serious fighting or 8 AP 5 rending attacks when he just wants to fuck around.

Triple Knights (without a single Cerastus) is the breaking point because they not only fuck with the visual aspect but also the gameplay.
Everything combined and not a single thing painted just screams "I don't care about the fluff or aesthetics of 30k but I want to pwn some n00bz RIGHT NOW!!1", even if that's not the case.
Hi guys, guy from previous thread that wants to make Shattered Legion. I want to get a Heavy Support squad armed with Plasma Cannons. Which legion would you say is the fluffiest to be armed like that? I mean, I was thinking Iron Warriors, but they are more Missile Launcher focussed than Plasma Cannons. I'm not too sure about using lightning bolts on Terminator armour to represent their service alongside the Emperor.
Both dudes here are terran, but Cataphractii armour wasn't made until problems with MkIII were "discovered" (MkIII is perfect just as is :^) ), and Ferrus helped to make them, so it wasn't early crusade anymore.
But perhaps it's the raptor icon the one that represents the wars of unification, and the lightning bolts were added later (as the Fists fought a lot alongside the Emperor)

Dorn was forced by circumstances into being Warmaster Mk.2, and this is a prime example of why, despite the Emperor's respect and trust in him, he was ill-suited for the task: he was too stubborn, too abrasive, too uncompromising and too much of an idealist.
He was a fine leader and commander, but he's definitely shown to have difficulty with realpolitik, to the point that he could barely manage to bend for his greatest son, and even then he still basically disowned him
