This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.
(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Having you both use the same technique is just a battle of attrition, and by physical conditioning and experience alone, he’ll beat you out there.” you analyze, resting your pointer finger on your chin.
“The Byakugan isn’t foolproof, Tsuki-hime.” she says, plans of her own beginning to form behind a hardened expression. “It’s range is limited until you grow more used to using it, and it has a blind spot- right above the third thoracic vertebrae.”

Actually, with the Byakugan, using that weapon that is essentially a metal ball on a line (can't think of the name) would be pretty good. They could always see where it is and not have wholely rely on training to feel where it is. Jackie Chan used something similar in Shanghai Noon but it was a Sheriff's star badge on a rope. Just an idea.

Puppets are pretty good for keikaku, you can use them like shadow clones that shoot fire and poison, and if you get good enough as mech-suits!

That's why you use a shadow clone to pilot the puppet, then puppet it from the outside when the shadow clone pops, then switch places with the puppet when someone comes after you. “I might just take you up on some sparring to train up my Taijutsu abilities, as well. I need to make sure to round out my bases.” you continue.
Tenten smiles wider.
“Of course, Tsuki-hime. I’d be glad to teach you in my downtime. Of course, that would only be when our schedules don’t conflict, but I'm not worried."
“I look forward to it, Tenten.” you respond, returning her smile. You genuinely do, as well. Tenten was one of your friends at the academy, and with life being so hectic lately, it seems like you really haven’t had much time to visit her.
“Anything else I should know about puppetry?” you say in passing, as Tenten scours her wares for a suitable pair of training blades.
“Well, obviously you use chakra to control the puppet. Some people only need one hand to control one- I’ve heard of some masters even able to control one with a finger! That would probably take a lot of practice, though. They’re also highly customizable, and as a result can be retrofitted to deal with a great number of situations. As specialized as they are, the fighting style is highly adaptable.” Tenten reports.
“Oh, and they do require lots of practice to use. Not many people use them for this reason- at the end of the day it’s simply too much work for most.”
Eventually she decides on a pair, and rings you up. You pay with your own ryo this time- you had some pocket cash, and the training blades aren’t that much, anyway.
“Just let me know about the training, Tsuki-hime. Oh, and don’t feel pressured on picking a style. We’re still genin, after all! We have a long time to decide how we wish to specialize, if at all.” she says as you depart.
You thank her for the advice, and move on towards home. The sun is setting anyway, and you wouldn’t want to miss dinner.

This actually works and makes a lot of sense. Having our 'alter ego' use puppets works really well for spy-work and lets us keep our distance from actual events.
Plus if anyone ever suspects us, we can have our Root identity show up as a puppet while we're present to throw off suspicion
Plus then we can still do all the random puppet stuff people might want, just in secret.

Puppets don't really require chakra to work. The only chakra involved is making the strings, the rest is just machinery and seals. Now something like Sasori's red army, where he's controlling hundreds of puppets at once, I can imagine would take a lot of chakra, but just one should be negligible.
Can chakra even be funneled through puppets? Because I'm pretty sure that's why Sasori made the human puppets - because you can't do chakra stuff with puppets, but with human puppets, they can do whatever jutsu they knew in life. Like, you can control them all you want, and put whatever neat tricks and traps in there all you want, but you can't do jutsu stuff. So you have to use tech instead.
Dinner was a blur to you- you were so focused on getting through the day that you hardly ate.
You even had problems sleeping, for the first time since you were little girl- you were simply that excited.
You find your eager self in the ROOT facility under the manor, with Danzo nearby. You went to him at dawn, only to find him waiting for you, as always. He seemed very amused by your enthusiasm.

“Now, Tsuki-dono. This part may take a bit of time, so I do not want you to get discouraged. Working on your release will require you to know your own chakra- how it feels, how it flows, how it reacts to different movements. I can lead you through this process, but I do not share your talent. It will be entirely up to you how this ability manifests.” Danzo says, with his ever present stoicism.
“First, I’d like you to concentrate your flow of chakra- your hand is a good target, for now. Simply build up the chakra, and see how it feels. We’ll go from there.”

It’s too unruly- adding more chakra just seems to increase how much flows away. What if you were able to condense it?
You begin to focus a similar amount of chakra in your other hand. With practiced precision, you bring your hands together, whilst increase the flow. You feel it churn- faster, and faster. With seemingly nowhere to escape, the chakra condenses. It begins to get hotter- and hotter.
You begin to sweat- the heat coming from your hands is nearly unbearable.
Just as you’re about to release it- you feel it. A ball of chakra- tiny- but heavy. It is also voraciously consuming your chakra. You remove the hand on top, and you see it- tiny, but impossibly bright. Suspended in your hand is a pinprick of light- ugh, but why is it so heavy?
You look up at Danzo, who seems genuinely surprised.

You tell Danzo what you're about to do- he stands up, and then proceeds to a safe distance
You begin to stand, trying to keep the light steady- it’s really quite difficult! It’s weight seems to be increasing, ever so slightly, as you stand. All the while, it continues to consume your chakra.
It’s heavy enough that throwing it normally isn’t an option- you try to launch it instead, by thrusting with your open palm. It flies in an odd arc- as it did truly have weight to it. Shortly after you released it, you felt the light stop devouring your chakra- though halfway through it’s destination, it begins to grow. Finally, it reaches it target- immediately, you’re blinded. When the light fades, the dummy at which you threw the light, it almost entirely gone- the stump of it’s base looking as if it had been cut cleanly, as some odd curvature. Also, it smells very strange- like burnt wood and another smell, sharp and metallic.
Well, that was certainly interesting.

“Tsuki-dono, this power of yours is… quite unlike anything I’ve seen. I doubt this is the only application of it, and we’ll need to have you continue to practice and refine it. In it’s current state, it’s somewhat impractical, but I’m willing to guess it has many other uses.
It will take time and effort, surely, but you’re satisfied with the result.
