During the End Times, all Elves (High, Dark, and Wood) were unitd by Malekith.
Malekith was the leader of the Dark Elves.
So technically, at the end, all Elves were actually Dark Elves (more or less).

everything you liked in the old setting is dead and reinvented into more generic terms with less generic names. I personally don't get it: having Aelfs and Orruks instead of Elfs and Orks isn't really going to stop other companies from making models that compete with you

not really. It just turns out that Malekith really was the rightful king of the High Elves all along and Asuryan confirmed him when he walked through the flame. Apparently the test to see if you're pure of heart and fit for kingship and whatever ignores 5000 years of slaughtering your kinsmen, running a slave empire, and having half of your immediate family be Slaanesh worshippers
So it's not that all HE are DE, it's that the HE got cucked by Malekith and now he sits on their throne because even the Elves' gods are fucking incompetent
