It'd certainly make surgery easier, though it seems like the only advantage there is not having to cut open and resew the skin. Keep the entire area sterilized and just don't invite infection with an open or sewed shut wound, preserving the barrier between guts and outside world.
Other than that, assuming the guts are also still inside you, it would allow multiple surgeons to work on the same area. If they're in sync enough, they can potentially perform some crazy surgery stuff by working in tandem in the same spot without getting in each other's way.
