Does your local game store have a dress-code?
>>
>>47117303
no, but i dont mind giving them a reason to have one
>>
>>47117303
No.
But there is a sign in the bathroom that goes over the finer points of personal hygene and tries to address the multitude of b/o complaints without embarrassing anyone specifically.

I've heard it's a long story, and I've never been told it.
>>
>>47117303
Yeah, but only in the official opening hours.
>>
>>47117303
No sweatpants.
>>
>>47117692

lol I am a grown man. I work outside with my hands all day long. I wear a hat every day. I certainly take off my hat to eat as I am not a savage but I am not taking off my hat when I enter Ye Olde Game Shoppe. What a pointless way to alienate customers.

I am not opposed to dress codes per say at a fancy restaurant or for formal social events but a dress code at a game store reeks of neckbeardery and geek elitism.
>>
>>47117921
Gee, Anon, I will take Fedoras and Trillbies for 500!

Besides, where I come from, only the most plebean rednecks are not taking the hat off when entering a building.
>>
>>47117692
>No hats.
>I've heard it's a long story, and I've never been told it.

It's not that MAGA drama, is it?
>>
>>47117921
>grown man
>Can't/won't follow a simple rule out of respect for the store's proprietor
>Would literally take him two seconds to do it

Could've fooled me buddy.
>>
>>47118021

I didn't say I wouldn't follow the rule. If I was asked to leave I would comply with the owner and never patronize his store again.

Respect is a two way street. Making pointless rules and exercise your power has consequences.
>>
Only one I know is that if you smell too bad or whatever the owner is at full discretion to tell you to leave. It's on a sign on the front door and I've never actually seen anyone get booted for that, or anything. I don't go there often though, to be fair. It's basically one of those "if you don't follow our hygiene standards you will be asked to leave" signs.

I'm curious on how an anal passage manages the hammer and nails, especially if the knees or hands cannot help.

There could be a very good reason behind the rule. But what do you care? You're more worried about your stupid ass hat to give a shit about anyone's reasoning. Why should anyone respect you? You're a random nobody chucklefuck who's proven himself to be an asshole seconds after you've walked in the door.

Mate, I will give you a clue - this never works in reality. If the store, shop or depot got rules, you follow them, or get lost. Nobody gives a flipping fuck about single person that throws a tantrum. Because there are 20 other customers to attend.

Welcome to the retail, shithead. And nice way of proving you are either too young to use this board or simply a manchild

Yeah. It was made up in the 1900s by people who wanted to distance themselves from the doctrine of caveat emptor, where goal was to fuck over the customer as much as possible. Following either one blindly is going run you out of business.
>>
>>47117303
Yeah. My LGS is right on Ft Lauderdale beach in Florida and had a ton of random people wandering in dressed in bathing suits, covered in sand and dripping of suntan lotion. Mostly they were just coming in for the A/C. Mostly they were Quebecians and New York Jew tourists.

I don't have a local game store. Nearest one is a half hour away and is full of no-fun spikes.

Go actually work somewhere that isn't walmart or your local grocer, where you have to deal with little shits who expect you to kiss their ass because their company signed an exclusivity contract with your company, and he will be proven right very quickly. Now I won't say I don't hate the fuckers with every once of passion, and there's alot you can imply in a conversation without saying anything that can get you in the shit, but he still has a point.

I run a business in a town with a pretty even political split and I don't want to loose any customers for reasons I could avoid. I haven't had to deal with anarchist iconography though, I think punk skipped the south, but a Che Guevara shirt would get nixed.

The only exception is Flames of War days. I encourage people to dress in the uniform of their armies commander.

No mockery or sarcasm and no brooms.

The sign itself is rather tasteful and at first it looks like it could be snide or tongue in cheek, but it was hung with the intent to help and not embarrass.

The first time I saw it, I was going to take a pic and post it if I ever wanted to make some douche comment on the state of fa/tg/uys...but after reading it I just felt kind of empty.

Deodorant.

Clean clothes.

Actual clothes can be whatever you want unless staff or a regular has a problem with it, or it's blatantly offensive (i.e. a shirt with a "triggered" joke is okay if it's just some neckbeards in the back room, but a shirt with NIGGERS on the front is probably not allowed)

If you're fat make sure your asscrack isn't showing.

>>

>There could be a very good reason behind the rule.
Not him, but what good reason is there for the whole "no wearing hats indoors" thing anyways? How does that in any way interfere with, inconvenience, or disrespect any one at all in the first place? Unless it's some comically oversized sombrero that keeps knocking shit over, it's in no way a bother to anyone except those who arbitrarily decide that it's somehow "disrespectful". People say that a lot, and people just take as that, but I don't understand HOW it's disrespectful.

I'm not even a hat-wearing kinda guy, but I just find the whole thing non-nonsensical.

It's very old. Likely from england originally.

They used to provide hat and coat racks in places so you could store it.

I'm entirely speculating here but given the weather it could well have come from rain. It would be a shitty thing to do walking around dripping everywhere.

I'm interested now. I'll look it up.

At my nearest GW store I saw the manager have a mini rant when this group of 5 kids, I would assume 13-15 years old, that were building some stuff had decided to kick off their shoes and had the balls to argue why they should be allowed to do so since it was more comfortable for them to bare their sockless feet and pitter patter all over the floor. We had wanted to play a game that day but when you have younger teens talking horrible politics and school drama plus leering at you it gets uncomfortable very quickly.
tl;dr Teach your kids proper hygiene and to give a damn about how they look/how they act. It goes a long way.

Anon says it's a long story but I suspect the answer is quite simple. In the tradition of principles and teachers everywhere, it's easier to ban the whole thing than single out bad actors.
This probably was some fedora wearing chuckle fuck who's buddies though wearing hats was the height of cool. Until some one brought in a Sombrero 6 feet in diameter and destroyed something.
Or some kid playing flames of war (no offense most of you guys are cool) thought wearing an SS hat an yelling "seig heil" at norme customers was ok, because Steve wears his grandfather's infantry helmet.

The core here is some chuckle fuck starts doing things and the owner doesn't want to have the "don't do that an have some sense argument" so it's all banned.

Hats are worn to block your brain so it doesn't fly away if it tries to escape your skull.
Indoors there is no need to wear a hat since the brain will be stopped by the ceiling.

So, wearing a hat inside a house is like saying "I have no confidence in the strength of your roof; brains would probably go through them".
Pretty rude.

I work at Walmart and I'm one of the only people that works there that will not tolerate people when they throw fits. Most of these people never had anybody ever tell them no, at least it seems like that because most of their mouths actually drop when I tell them no or that I won't help them if they're going to treat me like that.

Why do so many people who enjoy /tg/ hobbies have hygiene issues?

I see lots of fedoras/trilbies

This is 100% incorrect. In the business world it's important to know why you're wearing what you're wearing and if someone else is wearing something they shouldn't. It's akin to body language.

CEOs are just one example of people that have practical reasons to dress well. Again I'm not really sure why /tg/ is judging other people for their hobbies; seems kind of silly.

And most of the time, that rule is so you can throw people out who wear head coverings for religious reason without breaking the law. I see it all the time.

Not really, but he enforces a strict "Wear a Belt" policy. It doesn't mean you have to literally wear a belt, but you have to have your pants secured so your ass isn't hanging out when you're sitting down. This was an ISSUE at my local shop. It started becoming an issue when the store expanded and more young children came in with their parents to play Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon. The owner wanted to avoid a lawsuit so he just asked everyone to dress like grown ups.

That sounds like fun. A local bar has drag nights which are pretty cool, but a game store having one sounds neat. The closest I have seen in a game store is the owner encouraging people to come in costume on Halloween.

It is rather fun!
What's even better is that the store owner doesn't even actively encourage it; it just kind of happened. He is probably one of the most "normal" people in there, it was funny to see his reaction when I told him one of the "lesbians" I hang out with was actually a guy.

Being framed by a stretched jacket collar causes the neck illusion. Wearing an undershirt breaks it.

I knew one guy who was probably bordering 500 lbs and always smelled abysmal. I hated being paired up with him during any sort of game, because it was always miserable. He was otherwise a decent fellow, but he smelled like garbage and shit and had a heavy dose of wabbling everywhere, not to mention he refused to move tables between rounds. And everybody had to accommodate him because he was buddy buddy with the owner, probably partially because he spent a grand or so on MtG each set. The owner was a douchebag too. I was glad when another LGS moved in closer to my house, so I had an excuse to never go back ever again.

Because people with no social skills universally have no friends?

People meet up because they have like interests. Hell, sometimes you dont even play with strangers, you just play with your friends. I think my social skills are severely lacking, and I only have maybe two people I would actually call friends, I have just found a half dozen people willing to put up with my autism long enough to play a game.

I always find it strange that by being kind of normal, buddy buddy, hand shaking etc. it's extremely atypical and people are taken aback whereas the norm is to avoid contact midgame then scream about which modern deck is the best after the match. I don't even like playing t1 decks, it's unchallenging and yet I can't even pull out a brew without some kid who doesn't even play Jund yelling at me across the room when he heard I main deck ghostly prison that Jund would beat it. Idk mang

Actually you have it wrong. The correct/original phrase was "The customer is never wrong."

What it means is that the customer will always seek out what he desires, and if you refuse to supply it then he'll go elsewhere.

Example, you sell red vehicles (because they go faster!) but your boyz want to have blue vehicles for whatever stupid reason. No amount of refusing to sell them blue vehicles will make them buy superior red vehicles, they will simply purchase from another supplier.

Thus, the customer is never wrong.

Shoes and the bare legal requirement. We've never had someone ejected because of it, but it's helped with business a little because of one guy. He's your classic neckbeard, except he always brings a fucking harem of 7/10+ women. One girl is 10/10 fine as hell, and dresses in the most revealing, sexual outfits you can get away with in public. They actually enjoy gaming and the number of guys that will go splurge on things in order to win in front of them is a little amazing.

I think we made an extra $350 because of them the last time they all came in.
>>
>>47154230
I already said it's fine to dress up by putting on a nice suit and stuff when you have a good reason to do so. Going to a job like being a CEO is for sure a good reason. We all know the kind of fashion I'm talking about and it doesn't mean dressing to suit the job you're going to.
