I'm painting up my Coletter crew.

Cassandra - red skirt and GREEN corset or red skirt and deep PURPLE courset?
I'm limiting my palette, because I don't like how random-selection many of the showgirl crews I've seen online look, but I'm just not sure which way to go on this one.
I think maybe a dark green might look better, but I'm also working with a pretty shit selection of colours, with GW Goblin Green as my only base green.
The purple would probably be roughly the shade of pic related, but the red much, much brighter. And the colours swapped round.
>>
>>46987454
red and purple famously don't look good together. but red and green are complementary colors. That's just super basic color theory, and there's exceptions to every rule, but if you're working with a limited pallet, it's generally best to go with what works

Looking for a nice, easy and cheap way to make a swamp bases for my swampy portion of Neverborn.
>>
>>46988096
Also still I have not idea what color should my Nephilims be.
>>
>>46988096

I'm using Vallejo still water mixed with some brown or green wash for my Gremlins.

Put in some rocks and tall grass before you apply the water and you should be good.
>>

Fair point, cheers.
Not sure why I didn't just look at a colour wheel already...

>>46987767
What've you got still to paint?
Do you drill one model and hten move on, or do the whole lot layer by layer?

>>46988119

Except yellow.
>>
>>46988119

Decide what you want their bases to look like and go from there.
>>
That feel when you make some awesome looking bases but just can't find the right way to paint them.

Puppet guild bro here. Just bought the Puppet wars unstitched box and found a local store has some old puppet wars boosters which contain a Witchling. I fucking want it!

I'm going to use one of the metal snakes and an executioner body to make a peace keeper. Make it sort of turtle with a scratch build harpoon launcher on the back.

i've gotta finish chompy, an insidious madness, a stitched, an alp and Lelu and Lilitu to do.
I like to get a whole model painted up in one go, I get more of a sense of progress out of it.
after my dreamer crews done and if i've got time I want to get lilith and her crew box painted up as well but it's not the end of the world if I don't get it done.
>>
>>46988201
>Pick one senpai.
>Except yellow.
I like yellow but I don't think it'll look good on them.

The ideas that I have:
>dark blue with red eyes
>red
>normal white human skin
>something in-between, like normal skin for Terror Tots and getting darker and more red as they grow bigger.

Also looking at my put together Insidious Madnesses and "Dude, that's a whole different level". I was thinking about a normal skin color but it would look meh with all those teeth, unless they aren't white/boney....
>>
Working on getting through my Resser henchmen. Right now I've got Toshiro, Valedictorian, and Mortimer done, still need Philip, Sebastian, and Sybelle. I'm moving on to Henchmen because I finished my last unpainted master in Seamus.

I recently saw an anon here with red nephilim, they looked nice.
i'm pretty partial to just a regular if pale skin tone for nephilim though.
At least with the insidious madness you've basically got free reign to just go for something weird and wacky.
I'm doing mine in three really different schemes (well I would if I could think of something cool for the last one)
>>
>>46988319
Creepy-pale human skin might look pretty good.
Not sure how that would work with the making them darker/lighter based on power level, but I like the idea of that too.
For the insidious madnesses you could either go with internal organ colours - make them look meatier, or a bile-y yellow-green-brown - or like stretched and bruised flesh.

Otherwise blue with red flash sounds prety good.
Skip the classic devil colour scheme though.

I basically have my Pandora crew (+stuff that she likes like Doppleganger and Teddy) on a pavement bases but Nephilims are more "not in the city", at least one of them has a rock on his model.

So I was thinking city for Pandora and more "civilized" stuff, swamp for Zoraida and swampy stuff, something like rocks or desert for Nephilims.

Neverborn are really diverse faction so finding one fitting theme for their bases is really tough.

She was my first in 1.0. I got her box not even knowing she wasn't a leader.

Typically in 2E you want to pick your stuff based on your schemes pretty heavily. So a wide model pool for your faction is pretty preferable.

What do you have to go with her already?

Just her starter. Friend might lend me some showgirls if i ask nice enough.
>>
>>47002135

Ah fresh. Well you'll want stuff that goes well with fire effects and stuff that applies lots of fire.

Oddly the fire gamin can be a less ideal choice because they reduce their butning damage to 0. Meaning Kairis can't heal them. Metal gamin can work better because you can heal them and also they are nicely resiliant.

Rail golem is a no brainer for your heavy beater given it's synergy with fire.

Rail workers are great because they stack additional damage on models with burning. These guys come with mei feng so that gives you another master option.

Arcane emissary gives instinctual I think so that's very useful.

Gunsmiths are always cool too.

Here's the missus work on her first crew. She's never done basing before and with minimal guidance she came up with this.

The breaking floorboards on chompy will match to her dreamers plain base. A couple of alphabet blocks will be added to tie them both together.

I put my transmortis guys together so nothing photo worthy there.

I'll have to do some searching to find the stuff, but we've seen the playtest cards for the new master, Titania, this lovely lady >>47002117, we know the theme for her crew is 'fae', and there was a Monday preview with weird blobby skull-faced fairy things.
>>
>>47004322
I had gotten Colette's crewbox because her stuff was my favourite aesthetically so far but I think I may have potentially found a new master.
>>
>>47004116
She works pretty well with any sort of constructs.
You can play her as either ten thunders or arcanist so that might influence what stuff you get next.

Joss seems like a good get for her and if you want something big can add the rail golem, howard langston (a generally very good arcanist beater) and a box of metal gamin should be top of your list.
>>
>>47004649
you're confusing her and mei-feng.
Misaki is the dual faction outcast one

>>
complete new guy here, and I was wondering if the hog wild box set would be a good place to start?
>>
>>47005094
Its a little niche compared to the other Gremlin crew boxes. Ulix likes pigs and pig accessories. So if you like pigs, he'd be a good start, but otherwise Sommer, Ophelia, or Mah Tucket would be better starts for Gremlins in general.
>>
>>47005470
Ma's box doesn't work well together.

Gremlins aren't a great place to start, there are triggers all over the place. As someone starting with Gremlins it's putting me off the game having to check every card for their 3 triggers per attack.
>>
>>47005807
whats a good one to start with then?
>>
>>47006082
Guild are pretty good because they tend to be straight forward. Very few triggers and models do pretty much whats written on the card numbers wise.

I'm probably not a good person to ask as I'm debating if I want to find another game to play. I'm finding Malifaux has too many moving parts and I'm not enjoying that much.
>>
>>47006082
Honestly, if you want Gremlins, just go with gremlins. It's silly to spend at least 30$ just to "learn" how to play only to learn the faction you want later.
>>
>>47006171
im not the gremling guy i dont even know if im interesed in this game i just like the modles because thye look cool and are not as expensive as GW shit.

>>
>>47006082
An army that you like. Really. Don't worry about mechanical complexity unless you've never played any sort of RPG, board game or wargame before.

A bunch of people are going to try and suggest a bunch mechanically simple masters to you that will bore you to death if you're not enthusiastic about them. You'll learn how to play no matter who you choose. Hell, you'd probably be a better player for it quicker. You'll just have to relearn when you want to do the more complex masters if you go with a simple one because it's "easier".

Pick what you want, paint it, Read up on some strats on PullMyFinger to get a feel for how the master is played, have fun.
>>
>>47005470
gremlin guy here, I love pigs and it seems like there is a lot of pig stuff for gremlins, like the pigapult and gracie. my only reserve is I don't know if Malifaux is played in my area. even if it isn't I probably will still get the pig box just to paint, Wyrd makes some great stuff.
>>
>>47006633
i like you, i will do this
>>
>>47007131
Cool. Enjoy dude. I do really suggest looking at PullMyFinger though if you're going down that route.

A master like Collodi, for example, I imagine would be pretty tricky without that little bit of guidance.
>>
>>47006633
I disagree with this because the card mechanic and cheating adds a massive amount of complexity to the game.

Just that single mechanic without the triggers would add another level of complexity, the triggers makes every model all but a game system into themselves.
>>
>>47007470
And? Not everyone is mentally incapable of handling the idea of having "rerolls" on hand to use, which is what cheating is.

It might take a while to remember all the rules, but it's a case of practice, not the rules and triggers being mentally challenging on a level unattainable by an average human being.
>>
>>47007619
Rerolls are very different from what Malifaux has. You have Rerolls + bonus effects. The complexity there is insane when you take 10 models who can all use those cards for different things.
>>
>>47007701
>The complexity there is insane

I don't know how to say it,but you might be retarded, anon.
>>
>>47007745
Or you might be too stupid to understand the complexity. Cheating and triggers when 4 or 5 different models can all use that card to get a trigger is pretty fucking big compared to just rolling a dice or two. It's not "hit if you roll above a 7" it's often 5+ times more complex as to if you cheat or not.
>>
>>47008015

I can see that, but after a little bit you start to learn what triggers/suited actions are the ones you really, really want to go off in a certain situation and others that are merely nice to haves.
>>
>>47007701
>The complexity there is insane
It really isn't. More complex than a vanilla model that can just shoot things, sure but it isn't this deep wormhole that somebody can't learn with that you seem to think it is either. If you're playing models, you just sort of learn what they do. Starting with a simple army that he doesn't like isn't going to fix or change this fact. He's going to learn either way. And probably faster with something that
1. He enjoys and wants to play
2. Makes him take into account all the mechanics of the game
But no. Recommend that he avoids things he spends a whole bunch of money on things he doesn't like so he can not have the drive to paint or play them. That way when he has to relearn everything all over again (Because a massively simple army plays hugely differently than a complex one) to actually play the one he wants to play, he can weep for his lost time and cash.

Can you two stop it with the
>You're stupid!
>No you're stupid!
It's pretty dumb.
>>
>>47008156
Doesn't change the complexity is the problem. It's the same issue I had with Hordes, I have so many options that I don't really want to take any of them. I'd much rather have something like Warmachine where I have fixed resources and only a small set of options. I work better that way because I like to think things through and if I have millions of options then I'm going to end up spending too much time thinking things through rather than actually playing the game.

>>47008211
A Bayou gremlim is the most common model in Gremlins. They have 4 different shooting attacks depending on their flip, reckless and a defense trigger. That's pretty fucking complex for a basic unit if you were just flipping for it, flipping and cheating makes even a simple attack pretty over the top.
>>
>>47008299
And through playing it he will learn the value of cheating and triggers better than he would using a model without. Thereby getting a better understanding than he would playing a model that can only do one thing. In addition to that he actually gets to play something he wants. This will give him the drive to come back to the game, get models, paint models and actually learn. Saves money also. Thank you for adding to my point.
>>
>>47007077
Then Hog Wild would a good start. Biggest thing to watch out for is those boars won't see a lot of use. They are a nice addition, but don't make a good core for Ulix. Good pick ups would be the slop haulers, a few of the large pigs like Gracie and the Sow, and some pigets for his summon ability. That's if you want to go the husbandry route, though. You can run him without it, but he still does better with a few big pigs and slop haulers.

For 10T, Yamaziko, Sensei Yu, shadow effigy/emissary, Lust, snipers, bros. Misaki is a highly mobile guided missile. She excels at picking models off and gets crazy good if your opponent is light on cards to stop your assassination trigger. Her crew usually ends up supporting her work or being independent and scoring without her.
>>
>>47005094
That should be fine. Ulix likes pigs, so his crew tends to be a bit more self contained than the other gremlin masters. Get pigs, all the pigs, then maybe a taxidermist, pigapult, hog whisperer, Emissary, roosters, and you should be good to go.

So i'm thinking about picking up malifaux and i feel kind of overwhelmed.

I'm not entirely sure how the faction system works but I've been looking at the resurrectionists. I've played wargames on and off and I've always preferred playing villain or anti-hero factions in theme. I like factions that have a low model count but high unit quality.
>>
>>47026263
Alright, where do you want to start? Basic rules? Crew selection? Boxes to pick up?
>>
>>47026263

When you start a match of Malifaux you pick your faction. Then after schemes are revealed you actually start picking which models in your chosen faction you want to use, though when you're starting out it's more likely you'll just use whatever you have.

> I like factions that have a low model count but high unit quality.

Ressers probably aren't for you then. A lot of masters have the ability to summon more models, though some more than others, and a lot of Resser minions are fairly low quality or high costing as a balance since you might end up with about 15+ extra points of models via summoning.

Arcanists might be more your speed playstyle wise, while Neverborn could probably cover that niche while retaining that vibe you want.
>>
>>47026263
So how it works is you declare your faction, roll for the scenario for your game, then build a list from your models. Start with a crew box and one or two additions, play some games, learn to play, before worrying about expanding your faction.
>>
>>47026466
Different person but, I got the Colette box and a box of December Acolytes. Any advice on a second addition? I was looking at Angelica maybe.
>>
>>47026520

Angelica's a good choice.

A box of Corphees wouldn't be bad either, especially if you magnetize them so you can swap between singles and a duet.
>>
>>47026378
..........yes

>>47026456
>>47026466
So i know the game has models that belong to multiple factions but does that mean as long as your master is of a faction you can use models belonging to that faction or do i have to declare that i'm only pulling from one? Also are there hard lines between factions or is it more of a "take what you want" style thing like unbound 40k or AoS please say no
>>
>>47025733
They are pretty pathetic. You can get a SS refund and the Cg8 could be exploited. I've tried one with McCabe for a laugh, tossing him the saber and making a long charge, but a dog does better for cheaper. Try him as a flanker/schemer and see if he can't surprise someone with his Sh2 attack.
>>
>>47026263
There's literally no good guys in Malifaux. The only exceptions from this rule is the fact that certain characters care about each other.

Guild is motherfucking oppresive goverment which will suck you dry as a corporation.

Arcanists are terrorists (however they seem most humane among everybody else).

Ressers, well, they'll kill you, and then use you as a minion to overthrow Guild, and or make more vicious experiments.

Neverborn want you to lose your mind and do their bidding (>you'll even know you are doing it).

Ten Thinders want to make everyone else their bitches by scheming and infiltrating everyone around.

Gremlins likes mindless rampage.

Outcasts are mostly hired guns who only care about their own skin. However it seems like Von Schill likes his dudes. So yeah, Freikorps are the good guys (if you pay them well).

If you like anti hero theme, I would suggest to go with either Rasputinia (bitch got some power in her and totally lost it, reading about her freaks me out more than any necromantic experiments made by Ressers), or Pandora, the one that brings one madness and screws with peoples minds.
>>
>>47026620
Basically:
You declare your faction, then when you build list (after determining strategy and scheme), you hire your crew from a pool. Some masters/models allow you to hire models not normally in the pool, you access them in this step only if you hire the necessary model (e.g. Leveticus with his Pariah upgrades).

There are soft lines between factions, with some models belonging to both or allowing hires from outside the normal faction. An example of this is Marcus' ability to hire any Beast, regardless of faction.
>>
>>47026620
It's pretty much pick a master and then take what you want within your own faction. Which are listed here.
>>47026655
>>
>>47026620

>So i know the game has models that belong to multiple factions but does that mean as long as your master is of a faction you can use models belonging to that faction or do i have to declare that i'm only pulling from one?

You have to stick to one, even if your master is dual faction. Say you're playing Neverborn and you're wanting to use Jacob Lynch. Even though he's dual Ten Thunders you can only bring in Neverborn stuff if you declared Neverborn.

There are some exceptions like how Zoradia can bring in models from other factions under a certain Willpower or how Jack Daw can bring in all models with the Tormented marker, but overall you're usually stuck with models in your specific faction.
>>
>>47026620
You can only normally get models from your faction. Dual faction models can be played as either and there are some funky rules that let you hire stuff out of faction.

McMourning, for example, is the Guild's coroner by day, necromancer by night. You can take him as a Resser or Guild crew. As Guild, he can only hire Guild models, as a Resser he can only hire Resser models. However, if he's Guild and takes the On the Clock upgrade, he can hire Nurses, Sebastian, and the Zombie Chihuahua, though they are Ressers. As a Resser, he can take Moonlighting, which lets him hire Guild Guard and Lawyers.
>>
>>47026620
When you declare a faction, you have access to all models in that faction and 2 mercenary models out of faction. The models that let you choose out of faction have to be chosen first. For example, Leviticus can be upgraded to take non-outcast models. You have to take him to take them.

For restrictions, you have to have one master or a henchman if the game is small enough, there's a point limit, and some models are limited in how many you take, but that's it. But points are usually low enough that you won't be taking many models. Crew boxes are usually about 35 "points", and large games are at 50. So list building is trying fit what you want and need for the scenario in your limit.
>>
>>47026655
>Arcanists are terrorists
Terrorists AND mobsters.
>>
>>47026854
And cannibals
>>
>>47026620
So i'm still thinking over the faction thing but are there some starter boxes i should avoid for any reason?
>>
>>47026854
But also freedom fighters, union men and just about the only faction that at least tries to work for the common people.

Also, neverborn aren't just "they want to use you", they also want to eat you, drive you insane, or steal your children. They just don't like humans, what they do to them depents on the flavor of the monster.
>>
>>47027104
Not really. Most are pretty good, some just have trickier mechanics. The only one that is flat out not balanced for a battle box game is Kirai.
>>
>>47025733
The only use I've found for them is scheme runners (but Void Wretches do it better.

Comedy option is getting them to get their +flips on attacks and just constantly wild firing. You won't hit much, but hopefully you can bleed their hand a little just through volume of fire.
>>
>>47026651
They have a not-terrible walk, and the shoot is, as you say, not the worst thing ever.
I guess it you can get within 8" and Wild Fire twice you're likely to eat a card or two of theirs - even if four Shoot 2 attacks are unlikely to actually achieve much, they can't be charged, so they are a cheap AP sink that probably shouldn't be completely ignored.
And they won't compete with an Arcanist for Tomes.
And they are pretty cheap, even as Mercs...
Right?

>>47026854
>>47026874

Yeah some of them are pretty under 35. Lilith is 25ss from memory.

Typically speaking you should buy 2 crew boxes for a faction ir atleast 1 plus a 3 man model box.

Best is to jump on pull my finger and see what your chosen master likes to field and buy the box that comes with those guys.
Kairis pairs well with mei feng's box or just some metal gamin for example.

Usually the standard model count for crews is 8-10, and it's not especially expensive (that's how they get you).

That said, some crews run higher on models due to summoning abilities, so if you want to get into Resurrectionists (the zombie faction) expect to want to own the entire faction range.

He's super obnoxious control. He gives a 3" push to tormented models, making it impossible to lockdown his crew. His hiring pool is hilarious. Giving 1" on pulses and auras is crazy. You can use a nurse to juice papa loco, give him 11" of pushes before he activates, use oath keeper, have him either walk 18" deeper or give him armor so he can explode three times instead of two or have him walk 4, blow up 5" and ruin someone's day.

If you can manage to get ligeia into position first, they can't even cheat. It's dumb as fuck and only the first of many tricks to pull off
>>
So I seen this game a few times, and it seems it will be translated to the language of my country so I exepct more people playing it. What are the good, the bad and the weird things about it?
>>
My LGS is starting to get into Malifaux, and ima join.
I'm hesitating between two sets, both resurrectionist (Seamus and Molly)
Can anyone tell me more about their playstyle ? Keep in mind I haven't seen anything about the rules, though I play a lot of wargames/ttrpgs :)
>>
>>47040226
Watch a tutorial on youtube lad.
>>
>>47040226
Seamus plays like a B-movie monster. If enemy models can't see him, he pops up behind them to shoot them in the head, and is extremely difficult to kill. The rest of his crew is built around enabling him/throwing out more WP checks to models to help him stay alive.

Molly is a summoner and buffer/debuffer. She's got a really nasty spell called Whispered Secret that makes every model suck at their job for a turn, and summons other undead based on her upgrades, with the catch that they have to be summoned near enemies, so she has to play up the board. Her playstyle is basically built around her making her own dudes better and her enemies worse while summoning minions that counter what your opponent is doing (or just punk zombies, everyone loves punk zombies).
>>
How viable would it be to take a fixed army and use it for everything? I'm considering carry case space and I'm thinking of just having 1 list with a couple of options.

Lady Justice
Judge
Executioner
3 Death marshals
2 Asteringers

I'm not keen on Malifaux but I want to at least have a playable list for basically any scenario that comes up. Any suggestions beyond this? Or would I be better off with Von Schill's box?
>>
>>47036717
Nice. I'd love to get that one.
>>
>>47039002
I can second this. I main ressers so own pretty much everything.
Then the cross faction stuff led me to get other stuff. Now I own most of the models in the game.

Very cheap and easg to start though.
>>
>>47039935
The good and weird are that you hire your crews after you know the objectives. And the game is 100% about the objectives. It's also played with playing cards not dice, you get a hand of cards letting you replace the flipped cards when you need stuff to work.

The bad is that there is a hell of a lot of moving parts to the game so you've got a lot to learn to be able to play anything tactically. But it does give the game massive depth.
>>
>>47040226
What >>47040655 said. Both being the same faction means you can use their models with each other.

Seamus is more stand alone as he doesn't summon too much so you wont need to buy tons of stuff just to be able to summon. He is also super tough.
>>
>>47040669
You can probably make an ok force for that purpose but you need to know you'll have a harder time on some schemes.

Dreamer is very flexable but being a summoner makes you need a large model pool which I think is what you're trying to avoid.

Von Schill is probably alright fo that. Perdita's stuff can go pretty hard in a lot of different schemes.
>>
>>47040669
Executioner is a bit of overkill with Lady J and the Judge in your crew.

Brutal Effigy, Brutal Emissary, and Francisco are all great with her. Cut back to 1-2 marshals to make room.
>>
>>47041318
I don't want too make complex models. I like the marshals as they're pretty straight forward.
>>
>>47041426
Do you mean hard to assemble or complex rules?
>>
>>47040226

I would actually say get both if you can, since there's an inherent synergy between the two.

Molly is a Belle so Madame Sybel can use her zero action to move Molly around. The Seamus box also give you three Rotten Belles which Molly can summon.
>>
>>47041818
Complex rules. I'm not keen on how complex Malifaux is, but it's popular so I want to have a crew to get A game at the club rather than twiddle my thumbs if no ones playing something I like more
>>
>>47041857
Ok fair enough.
Lady J is pretty straight forward then. That list is alright, I'd replace the executioner with a lone marshal he's a touch tougher and faster which will be handy for doing schemes and he's still pretty killy.

You could also trade out a single marshall for 2 guild guard if you want more boots on the ground.

Lady J
The judge
3x Death marshal
Lone marshal
2x Austringer

Is 47ss which gives you a little wiggle for upgrades or you could throw in the scales if you care to.
You'd only have to buy the LJ starter, Austringer box and the lone marshal box and you're good to roll.

I'm actually using the puppet wars box as I already have it ordered and like the idea of a puppet army. I'm going to convert up the scales.

I bought some relic models to use as guild guard. This was before I pretty much fell out of love with Malifaux DESU. I played a few more games with Gremlins and the complexity is just way too high for what I'm looking for and I don't enjoy my opponent being able to "counter spell" my attacks.
>>
>>47042352
Oh I remember you. We were chatting last thread.
I'm the guy that put up the higher res photos of the box contents.

The puppet on the rocking horse could totally be the lone marshal.
And the convict gunslinger (two pistol hands) could easily be given a big hat and made into guild guard.
>>
>>47042500
The cherub could have it's wings replaced with scales for a pretty easy conversion.
>>
>>47041857
I'd go with Seamus. He's far simpler than Molly in playstyle, but with plenty of room for nuance. Seamus' job is to bounce around the board mercing minions and drawing fire while his belles do the real scenario work. Add in his Red Chapel Killer, Mad Haberdasher, and Sinister Reputation upgrades and Seamus becomes damn near impossible to remove.
>>
>>47042500
The issue with the horse is that the rider covers most of it. I could probably fix that though Not sure what the rider has equipment wise, I think it's a sword?

>>47042541
There is a spare astringer which is a scare crow, would be a heap swap and scales to make it work which seems easier.
>>
>>47042657
He has a sword and a rifle, which could be slung across his back.

My suggestion for the horse would be to cut the skids off the bottom and extend them out to be larger and more obvious. Reasonably simple plasticard job, you seem like you've got the skills.
>>
Any tips on what I should do for demo games?

Really keen to get people in my area into malifaux.
>>
>>47042891
I have the rider in front of me, the sword is convertible no problem. The head is a seperate piece so I can head sword the austringer and him which gives me a suitable scales head and a suicable judge head. The only problem is the house has a skull head, I could leave it as it is or turn it into a puppety horse. Putting the model together is more difficult than this conversion will be. It's just a matter of removing detail.
>>
>>47043536
Get two boxes that are pretty straightforward in play that are also not Perdita's. Focus on the importance of activation order, hand control, and strategy/schemes, as these are the most unusual aspects of the game and aren't always intuitive for vets of other wargames. Make sure you both have supplies for it (fate decks, markers, tape measures, etc).

In addition, talk up the story, it's the biggest draw for a lot of people I know.
>>
>>47043536
I have the 2 player starter so I set those crews up against each other. They're fairly simple models mechanically, then we just do Turf War/Assassinate so they can get familiar with the basics.
>>
>>47044090
I'd recommend skipping scenarios entirely in your intro games. Just have some fisiticuffs so people can get used to the card system.

First, play at 50ss. Perdita is stupid strong at 35ss. As for her crew: bring down Francisco first, or at the very least pull him out of El Mayor range of Perdita. Ignore Santiago until you've got enough stuff in the area to kill him dead, it takes some work. Put Slow on Papa if you can, paralyze is better. Better still is luring him close enough to Dita to catch her in the blast. Save your high cards for the really nasty conditions, like a hanged's Whispers from Beyond. Above all, do not shoot at Perdita with a gun.

Wyrd is excited to announce 7 new plastic models, one for each Faction, which we're referring to as Malifaux Vintage.

These Malifaux Vintage models are alternative sculpts of Masters, each figure an updated version of the Master's sculpt from years ago. Malifaux Vintage models will be available in Mystery Boxes (as part of our Henchman Program's Event Kits) or through the use of Guilders* (which can be obtained by going to events).

We hope that everyone is as excited about these vintage Masters as we are. They will start showing up in mystery boxes in the coming months.

If there is no model for it or at least no current model for it, then it is fine. If you're fielding a space marine scout sniper as a freikorps trapper, then you better at least have it painted up to match the rest of your crew. Beyond that, nobody cares.

Just played my first game.

I have a Rasputina crew box.

I'm slightly confused on soulstones.

So, her box costs 25, and she has a cache of 3. So if im playing a 35 SS game, does my crew gain an additional 7 SS to use, totaling 10?
>>
>>47052682
Not quite. First, her cache is the amount of soulstones she gets for free, it doesn't count towards the point limit. Second, the amount of soulstones a master can have is capped at 7 regardless of cache. So here, you can buy one 6 point model and retain the maximum cache of soulstones at 7 soulstones. Or you can buy up to a 10 point model and have the remainder to add to your cache.
>>
>>47052702

Gotcha, so just to confirm, if I used that additional 10 SS model, I'd be at 35 SS and I would only have the 3 that were part of her cache?

I was thinking about getting into Wargaming through Malifaux, how friendly is it for newer players?
>>
>>47056540
It's fairly cheap to get into, you can get away with a crew box and 1 or 2 other boxes to play full size games. Some models are difficult to put together, if you aren't confident fitting tiny pieces together it can be tough.

It's fairly complicated, theres a lot to wrap your head around, the card flips take a while to get used to, remembering what info on the cards you can use for each different type of flip. But once you have the main rules down all the model rules are written on the stat cards. If you don't have someone to teach you it can be difficult remembering all the moving bits.
>>
>>47056540
I taught myself and my girlfriend to play. But I have 15 years of previous wargaming experiance.

It's reasonably easy to pick up but has a lot of depth to it. I think if you were dedicated you could do it. If you have a club with people willing to help you out it wouldn't be a problem

Pick a faction and a master you really like the look of and do some reading about how they play and what works well with them.

There is also an actual starter set that eases you into the mechanics fairly well.
>>
How many of you guys have made your own terrain for malifaux?

Bump for Raputina!
>>
>>47067157
That's the hard part. I'm looking for neat crew ideas as inspiration.
>>
>>47073447
I think Sonia can be good. She's kind of stand alone so you could build whatever you like around her.

Another one that's cool for theme is swamp monsters Zoraida.
>>
>>47073447
Try using stuff you haven't before.

I just had to email wyrd as my resser card box was missing molly and all 3 of the rogue necromancies.

Within an hour they messaged me back saying they'd send them out. Then 2 hours later said they had packed and mailed out the cards.

That is some sweet customer service.

Widow Weaver w/ Handbag
Teddy
Kade
Insidious Madness
Primordial Magic
35SS

Scrapyard hideout for all the tasty scrap.

Maybe build towards Dreamer or Pandora

Speaking of, who is good to add to her crew outside of the crew box?

I know more Ice Gamin are always welcome. But what about December Acolytes? How do they fair? Anything else Rasputina players should look at?
>>
>>47077913
Acolytes are great. Frozen Heart, a crazy good ranged weapon, from the shadows. It's one of the few minions I could see using all 3 without much hesitation.

Silent Ones are solid as well. Super tough with that Df trigger, good casting, good ice mirror target, and healing.

Snowstorm is great. Bullet proof, pushes, good utility, good damage.

Blessed is scary and quick.

Ice Dancer is a great scheme runner and can do surprisingly good damage.

Plus you have the Arcanist standbys of Howard, Joss, Cassandra, Mech Rider, gunsmiths, and arcane effigy

Thanks m8.

Hi, new malifaux player here seeking for wisdom advice
I picked the collodi box, and in my FLGS we are starting a scalation campaign, but we can't use our masters in the first two matches. This means half of the collodi starter is useless since for using marionettes i need collodi himself and not vasilisa

Vasilisa and 3 wicked dolls are 12 points, and the first match is 20SS and the second 35SS, what should i purchase to reach those points? Teddy? mysterious effigy? widow weaver?
The stitched together are april releases, what day are they going to be able to purchase from stores?
>>
>>47077991
3 acolytes against anything but the shittiest scrub will not be great. Way overspecializing. 1 is amazing, sometimes 2.
>>
>>47078704
April releases are usually in stores early in May, which tends to follow the pattern.

Widow Weaver is a solid addition. Wp fuckery, summons, and wicked doll synergy. If stitched aren't out yet, general neverborn go-tos are doppelganger, Teddy, illuminated, and Waldgeists.

Campaign guy again, this time with Ressers

Valedictorian
Sybelle
Nurse
Rotten Belle

7SS left. Not sure if I want a 2SS upgrade and a scheme runner or bleeding tongue and Chiaki. Probably building for Molly.
>>
>>47080789
A dead Doxie would be interesting.
>>
>>47080789
Crooligans are always good for Molly, and with a belle you probably want Not Too Banged Up on Sybelle. Ressers are kind of funny to slow-grow though, right now in that list you've got a lot of support models and one beater, and punk zombies are a bit expensive to just outright hire (though that may be a good option here, to threaten more than one section of board).

I did pretty well with a kind of strange starting list for a Shifting Loyalties campaign.

Valedictorian
Belle
Punk
Crooligan
Bete Noire

You start on the board wtih a real low model count, but bete's ability to never stay down provided you save a card means you do attrition very very well.

When Malifaux was starting at my area I got myself Pandora and wanted to play with her but got a break from Malifaux because of no time. Now my local meta is dominated by Pandora so I don't want to play her as well. I was thinking about Zoraida. What's good with her? What models? What upgrades? I'd like to stay pure Neverborn for now.

bump?

Sorry, don't know much about Zoraida. Our resident Neverborn player had his minis stolen, so he's playing Outcasts now.

New chompy is worst chompy
>>
>>47082042
You'll want something that can load conditions on the doll once it's hemmed to something. Iggy would be good, a nurse would be better, but that would be venturing out of neverborn.

I disagree.
Also got more stuff painted now

>>47083554
Very, very few of the new sculpts are better.

I was the most disappointed in Kiari's new box. I loved the old sculpts but lost my chance to pick them up
>>
>>47083671
I disagree, but the whole thing boils down to personal taste.
>>
>>47082042
Her crew box is great. Nurses are fantastic with her. Iggy, doppelganger, Teddy, usual neverborn staples all work. Control the enemy, obey your dudes, be the hag.

I've spent about 250 worth on models

Played only once

Just fuckin kill me already, I can't stand not having regular /tg/ mates
>>
>>47083671
I love the old ones too. I picked up everything Kirai related off a friend who still had them all unassembled in his cupboard. Got them last week, it was really lucky.
Got them really cheap too.

Also got old zoraida. But her new stuff is significantly nicer.
>>
>>47085480
Get your girlfriend into it. It's what I did. We play once or twice a week now.
>>
>>47083554
He's just a smooth buff brick, no stomach mouth or nothing.
