You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!
Your eyes suddenly snap open.
What you immediately see is a sterile white room. Not out of the ordinary for a hospital or infirmary. Once your eyes adjust to the light, they begin darting around, trying to take in as much information as they could. The last thing you remembered... the last thing you remembered...
Oh right. Vahlen was supposed to be removing this Abyssal growth inside your head. The last thing you remembered was being put under...
You groan as you put a hand to your head. Oddly enough, you didn't feel any scarring or bandages and your hair was still present. Then again, with the healing waters of the repair docks, maybe all the physical indicators of the surgery had already been healed over.
You further look around the room, which was modestly sized. However, what you did notice was that a quick ping of your radar showed that the walls of the room thick. EXTREMELY thick, and made with a material that actually blocked your radar waves so you couldn't see past them. In addition, the door looked to be thick, armored steel held in place by an electronic lock, a little red blip indicating it was securely shut. Up on the ceiling, you could see what was unmistakably a surveillance camera, its sole lens glaring down at you like a curious bird.
Where was everybody?
Something... something didn't quite feel right here.

You immediately press the CALL NURSE button placed next to your bed. You see a light on the wall begin to blink on and off, though you suppose that all you can really do now at this point was wait.
As you sat in your bed, you noticed the distinct lack of reflective surfaces in the room. No mirrors or anything like that. You look at your thankfully still intact arms and legs, and notice that your skin was a bit paler than you remembered. Heck, even your hair was quite the rich dirty blonde you were used, having faded to a dull grey and white at the tips. Some kind of side effect of the operation? You hope that it was only temporary.
Your thoughts were then quickly interrupted when a loud buzzing sound fills the room, and the red light next to the door switches to green. And of all people, Vahlen steps inside, wearing her usual lab/doctor coat with a clipboard in her hands.
"Ah, Hoel, it's good to see that you're awake." Vahlen smiles as she sits on a stool next to the bed. "I'm glad to say that the operation was a complete success! The foreign growth has been removed with minimal adverse effects!"
"Minimal?" You point to your skin and hair. "I'm white as a sheet!"
"Merely cosmetic, and only temporary." Vahlen assures you. "Now tell me, how do you feel?"
"Well, fine, I guess." You shrug.
"And on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being in extreme pain and 10 being comfortable, how do you rate yourself?"
"Ummm, a 9, I guess." You shrug.
"Good, good." Vahlen scribbles more notes down. "Now, all we need to do is run a few more routine tests you'll be free to go!"
Somehow you kind of get the feeling Vahlen isn't tell you the whole truth here.

Vahlen then holds the keycard hanging from her neck in front of the red light, which swaps to green with a loud beep and the door swings open. You manage to get a look at the thickness of the door. It didn't look impossible to break through...
You glance to your side and see a small counter stocked with basic medical supplies. Nothing so dangerous like scissors or scalpels, but some basic stuff like band aids and cleaning cloths. You're pretty sure a well placed band aid could easily block the camera's view, assuming there was even somebody watching it. That would give you some time to...

You decide to lure somebody over and then use that chance to escape. You weren't too sure of your chances of breaking through that door on your own, so maybe an alternative strategy was best. Taking a band aid, you quickly tape it over the camera. Hopefully they won't notice it until after you're done.
You then hit the CALL NURSE button and wait patiently by the door as the seconds crawl by. You know that once the door opened, you would only have a narrow window to act.
