So /tg/, what's the tiger vs dragon of western culture?
>>
The cross vs the crescent moon and star.
>>
>>46842812
The separation of body and spirit, perhaps? Or more recently, of mind and body?
>>46842871
Gonna have to explain that one.
>>
>>46842812
Panther vs. dragon, of course.

he's talking about radical islam
>>
>>46842924
Not that guy.

But the Cross is Christianity. And the crescent moon and star is the disgusting barbaric muslim horde.
>>
>>46842987
>he's talking about Islam

Fixed.
>>
>>46842987
>>46843001
Right. I'm not sure you're entirely qualified to speak about these subjects, since your explanations seem to have very little to do with the meaning of the dragon and tiger. You may want to google it.
>>
>>46843094
>similar but opposing forces with differing methodologies unable to defeat eachother
Sounds close enough to me.

What does this have to do with traditional gaming, such as board games and tabletop RPGs, again?

Has no one in this thread heard the expression "fighting like cats and dogs"?
>>
How on earth is this even a fair fucking fight.
>>
>>46844037
It's a mystical tiger, not a mundane one.
>>
>>46842812
AR vs AK
>>
>>46842812
There's no equivalent due to the difference in both philosophies. A dual confrontation like this is handled very differently in western/abrahamic mind, there must be an evil and a good side. And of course the good one will win.

But the petty version would be cat and dog, of course.

Came here to post this.

Dragon (the devil) vs Lion (God)

I'm digging the unicorn/lion one

Cavemen vs astronauts.
>>

Cats and dogs don't really fight though?
One good claw to the nose and the dog peaces outy.
>>
>>46845782 It gets awkward when the cat is declawed.
The dog will just stand still and get nose-swatted repeatedly.
>>
>>46845782
>One good claw to the nose and the dog peaces outy.

Really? I've seen dogs demolish so many cats.
>>
>>46842812
The too by the book cop who is just about to retire, and the loose canon cop who is just about to get fired.

This is a pretty accurate one. Bull and the Wolf is another one (Italian City States vs Rome)

Snake vs. Eagle?
>>
>>46846742
Depends on the dog.

The Golden we had when I was a kid was chill as fuck. She'd let the cat bat her nose, play with her ears, swat her tags, even jump up and cling on to her tail. Hell, one time she even let both our cats ride around on her back.
Our other dog, though, she was a German Shepherd(/wolf maybe?) mix, and if the cats played with her like that she'd take a limb. Totally chill with them using her as a pillow, though.

so this has always bugged me but what is the deal with whole tiger vs dragon thing?
if it's just cool thing vs cool thing I get it but I'm guessing it has a deeper meaning then that?
help a guy out here.
>>
>>46845782
If it's a properly domesticated dog it won't tear into a cat. If it's a wild dog that won't put up with that shit, and I don't mean a fucking chihuahua but an actual dog, then the cat is straight fucked if it tries to fight.

The lion and the unicorn
Were fighting for the crown
The lion beat the unicorn
All around the town.

Some gave them white bread,
And some gave them brown;
Some gave them plum cake
and drummed them out of town

If it's a wild cat, the dog is going to get pounced on, blinded and have his nose torn out. Then he'll enter shock and die convulsing in the streets, bleeding and shitting itself.

Byakko vs seiryuu, I think. But nobody wants a Phoenix fighting a turtlesnake so suzaku and genbu are left out.

The answer to op's question is Michael vs Lucifer, probably. Except less definitively good vs evil. Maybe more ares vs athena or something. I don't think the gods are even enemies they just look cool.

Tiger is for physical, aggressive and violent solutions. It's all power, overwhelming force; there's no finesse there, you're pounding the enemy into submission.

The dragon is slow, graceful, wise and thought out. Not impulsive but methodical. If I remember correctly, tigers are associated with light and dragons with darkness.

They're ying and yang, necessary together for a complete whole.
