So, let's build an army of orphans.

What are all the GW units that had minis at some point but were orphaned/no longer supported by the rules and are absent in the most recent iteration of their codex?

Keep a separate list for FW stuff.

Is there an Internet equivalent in the 40k universe? Are there astropathic shitposters?

What is life like on Chaos-held worlds? I have yet to find a piece of lore that describes everyday life for your average Joe Chaos.

If the Emperor is the bestest psyker ever who gets to eat all the other psykers, why can't he devote like 0,1% of his power to send a telepathic message to humanity telling them to get their shit together already?

What happens to your soul after you die? Depending on species.

Why are Orks da best?

Why do so many Chaos helmets feature bunny ears? Especially Khornate berserkers.

I have a game in a couple hours against SoB or GK either of which can have Inquis and/or a Knight allied in. Pretty stoked since it is my first time going against literally any of it. Should be a 2500pt game.

I am bringing 15Plas, 6 Grav(counting Combi) and 8 Multimeltas. I am pretty hyped for this game

Still supported actually. It uses the same stats as the current Stealth suits. Their fluff entry actually mentions them as an older model some veteran pilots prefer for the smaller profile. There were even examples of it in the 6e book's model section. Not sure about the 7th.

But yeah, totally legit to use. I have six myself

1. probably not though some might say the webway
2. life's probably a lot more action packed. chaos worlds probably have more freedoms, but it's also probably a lot more dangerous and lawless, open to overthrows etc.
3. Emps is doing the best he can
4. Eldar get eaten by slannesh or go to the infinity circuit. Humans get eaten by daemons or enter the emp's soft embrace
5. Orks have already won etc.
6. Chaos marines have strange traditions.

A friend of mine and I are going to be running a Tournament at our FLGS, and are trying to come up with some rules and guidelines for it, but there is one point we are disagreeing at.

I think there should be a limit of 1 Super Heavy per 1000 points, and 1 Flier per 500 points. That way people won't be bringing a Baneblade or Imperial Knight at 500 points and ruin everyone's day, or bring like 3 Valkriyes at 500 points.

The point of contension is he runs an IG list where he ends up having like 7 or 8 Fliers at 2000 points, and insists its fine. I think thats just way too much.

What do you guys think? Should a cap be put onto how many fliers can be brought, or is there truely no problem with 7 valkyrie Vendettas showing up on turn 2 and 3?

I've been writing up lists today in hopes of getting some games on Tuesday.
This'll be my first time I've played since 5th edition?

1000 points
HQ
Warboss + Gazbad Bike + Pklaw 120

Troops
12 Boyz + Nob + bpole + Rtrukk + Bshoota 127
12 Boyz + Nob + bpole + Rtrukk + Rokkit 127
12 Boyz + Nob + bpole + Rtrukk + Rokkit 127

Elites
5 Nobs + Bikes + 1Bpole + 2pklaw 280

Fast Attack
15 Stormboyz + Nob + Bpole + pKlaw 175

Heavy Support
2 Mek Guns + 2 Gretchin 42

Total
998

Fast Attack army, felt it was a bit weak on anti-tank so I put in rokkit boyz and a couple of mek guns.

Upgrade to 1500 points with

Elites
12 Burna Boyz + 2 Meks 192

Fast Attack
10 Bikers + Nob + Bpole + PKlaw 220

Heavy Support
Fred Dredd + Grot Riggers 90

I was originally planning to but the Burna boys into a battlewagon with all the trimmings but decided I wanted to use all my bikes instead.
How badly am I going to get rekt with this army?
Any suggestions for my Warboss name? I'm thinking something like Wizzdiki, because currently my Bike Warboss is a 2nd edition? Warbiker, picture related but not mine, and he is fucking tiny.
I've been thinking if I should just attach STUFF to it, or if I should just field him as is till I get a better model.

>>
>>46838548
Our FLGS hired a "games guy" to deal with just this sort of situation, I would definitely recommend making the suggestion, but I digress
The rules that out tourneys usually roll with are no super heavies or GCs and 1 psykic dice per 100pts and it is never really a problem, except this last time when a guy brought his friend from another town and he brought double skyhammer

no bueno
get more bikes.

MANz and Bustas are the best Ork stuff atm along with Bikers (in the codex).

Stormboys are pretty trash and they wont even do much, also all your trukks are going to pop in a stiff wind.

Burna Boys are decent against hordes but anywhere else its like, why not just more Manz, Bustas, Mek Guns or Bikers.

You can put Manz and Bustas in trukks at low points (and I am a fan of Bustas in trukks always as suciide tank poppers) but eventually MANz will want to safely get where they need to go with Battlewagons.
>>
>>46838548
7 Valkyries barebones is 875 pts min. With squads inside / upgrades / vendettas it's even more.

At a 2000 pt game he's having over half his forces reserved.

Play with Mysterious Objectives for potential for Skyfire and have fun.

He's most likely so deep in the warp that he can only communicate through broken psychic morse code.

>What happens when you die?
Eldar get their souls stuck in a stone attached to their person, which is then brought to a network where they join the rest of the dead Eldar in a big wraith party.
Human souls go to the warp to most likely get devoured by a daemon. Powerful Psykers' souls can put up a good fight.

Straight from the 7e codex. They're still in use fluff-wise, and they use the same rules crunch-wise.

>>

>>46838900
More specifically, they were in some spooky Daemon place, and murdered a bunch of Sisters of Battle.

Their supposed reason for doing so is that Sisters of Battle are pure, and therefore they needed to bathe in their blood to help protect them from the Daemonic corruption around them.

Ignoring the fact that Grey Knights are supposed to be immune to corruption entirely.
>>
>>46838954
Being nigh impossible to corrupt doesn't make Grey Knights immune to the malign effects of Warp exposure. They used the Sisters blood to protect themselves from what was, in effect, very potent blood magic.
>>
>>46838779
The unit is called XV25 Stealthsuits. I know that you could use the 15s as counts-as, and that they are still fluffed, but the unit is officially not 15s. They are a unique model that, at one time, had specific rules.

I can still use Anghkor Prok the mini as a Master Shaper, and just /say/ that he's Prok, and he may even be mentioned in the fluff, but at one time there was a distinctive set of unit rules for him, and now there isn't.

That is what I mean by orphaned minis. A few months ago, the entire genecult line would have been in it, too.
>>
>>46838989
Which is funny because some of those Sisters were actually called out as being immune to those same effects of warp exposure.

Manz would be meganobs?

I'm actually fielding all the bikes I have with this army, and I wanted to have the stormboyz in just because I bought them already dammit.
I've also only got the two mek guns currently, cept for this possibly 2nd edition cannon I have on my desk.
I also only have 5 Tank Bustas atm, I was considering taking them, but only 5, didn't seem worth it.
I wrote up a 2nd shooty list today with 3 squads of 20 shoota Boys, 10 Flash Gits, 15 lootas and 6 Killa Kans, 5 Burna Boys, a Dakkajet and a Big Mek. 1500 points exact.
Depending on what the other guy brings I could take it the Mek as Shokk Tack or Force Field.
I actually need to build more lootas for this army though, I only have 4 currently.

Picture is a Looted Wagon I made when there was actually rules for Looted Wagons in the Codex.
I actually set fire to it to simulate damage, I think I might be retarded.

You want to play CSM or something chaos
Find a FLGS, go visit during a day when there are 40k players. Maybe watch an indepth and non-meta battle report or two before going
After you see enough to figure out if you would enjoy playing, look over the army options, chaos has a few of them.
Once you decide, start small. Play with people who are willing to both play with and teach a new player.

>If that isn't heresy, I don't know what is.

Imperial forces do things like that all the time in the lore.

In fact, during the novel the The Death of Antagonis, I distinctly recall them shuttling loyal citizens in the millions or billions onto a planet sized super-weapon for the purposes of activating it to hurl it into the system's star.

The only thing that seemed out of place with the Grey Knights business was using the blood of said sisters as a talisman of purity.

It would have been more believable if it was required for a ritual to end the Daemonic Incursion.

well, and the fact that we're never given any reason WHY the blood of the sisters was needed as a talismen of purity.
The GK are supposed to be incorruptable, so covering themselve in blood to avoid corruption seems pretty out of place unless you give set up. And IIRC there is shit all setup for that. It's just a thing that happens.

Killing a bunch of sisters is fine. Doing it because the sisters were corrupted, or the blood of the pure would harm the whatever would be fine. Doing it to keep the incorruptable GK from being corrupted is a WTF moment.

Hell, they could have had the GK say to the sisters that they needed there blood to fight the thingy, and then have the sisters sacrifice themselves. There, GK are brutal but good, and Sisters are brave and selfless.

I'm not that other anon, but

>The GK are supposed to be incorruptable
They are not and never were incorruptible. They are explicitly outlined as constantly undergoing intensive purification rituals for their bodies, their minds,a nd their wargear after every battle with daemons. Their chaplains are attributed to why none of them have ever been corrupted. In the Grey Knight novel, the MC is mentioned as constantly fearing that he'll be the first Grey Knight to fall to chaos, and so he tries to get himself killed before that happens.

Grey Knights have always been "incorruptible by preparation" not incorruptible in general. Their preparation rituals, extensive knowledge, and other contingencies are why GKnights haven't fallen, and the ritual of purity using the sister's blood easily fit into how they work. People just bitched because 1) they have no idea how GKnights work, and 2) sisters being killed is shitty.
>>
>>46839430
>it was the bloodtide
which was never explained in the section. And of course how blood of the pure would help vs that wasn't explained, as that's pretty nonsense even by 40k standards.

>>
>>46839525
you forgot
3) 'I kill pure people and cover myself in there blood to prevent corruption' sounds fucking stupid.

Even if we accept that they need rituals to prevent corruption, killing the pure and covering yourself in there blood does not sound like a ritual that would do that. You need to spend a while building that sort of thing up, and they did not do that.
>>
>>46839396
>we're never given any reason WHY the blood of the sisters was needed as a talismen of purity

The sisters were ones spares, not killed by the bloodtide. With their blood, the GK were able to just walk through the bloodtide and deal with the daemon controlling it, instead of having to fight the bloodtide every inch of the way. You might be incorruptible, but you're not impervious to damage.

It's all in the piece, if anyone bothered to read it and not go on genital sandpapering spree.

> killing the pure and covering yourself in there blood does not sound like a ritual that would do that
It exactly fits the theme of martyrdom for both the sisters and Gknights. The specifics behind how the ritual is done means literally nothing, as the only debate is around if it was needed, and it is explicitly outlined in that story and in other fluff that it was.

Also, the Sisters themselves, as was stated, proved immune to the blood tide. Likely, it was one of their own rituals or faith-related things that managed it, which is why they were needed as a basis for the Gknights.

There is a sentence which COULD be interpreted to mean that. Or it could mean a lot of other really stupid things. The sentence isn't clear, and the section around it doesn't make it clear either.

It might have been meant to be that way, but it wasn't clear that it was.

To put it in another case, you remember that scene in Age of Ultron where it sounds like Black Widow said being sterile makes you a monster? Knowing the writer/director it's pretty clear that wasn't the intent, and you can figure out that the phrase about being a monster wasn't in reference to the bit about being sterile, but to other parts of the conversation, but where the line was sure made it sound like she was saying being sterile made her a monster.

That's what happened here. Ward had an idea, but the way it was laid out didn't make that idea clear and instead made it sound the GK were just fucking over the sisters and acting out of character.

Read it yourself. Also, I messed up in thinking all the sisters were immune; I forgot that many of them fell on contact regardless of faith and purity. Gknights risked the same, which is why they made the talismans first.

Adding the full first part of the passage. The Bloodtide started at a basilica, where even the most pure and faithful priests were immediately lost to it.
>>
>>46839807
Sure.

I mean, it says that Sisters are corrupted upon contact, to it seem to be more like Boon of Mutation or some other sort of warping Chaos magic than the slow, methodical corruption of the soul. And the Sisters who didn't succumb to this fought on and were killed via more conventional means. The GK, never a stranger to the weirding ways of Chaos, probably were able to deduce what they needed and the blood of the Sisters that weren't corrupted by the touch of the bloodtide was used as part of the protection, not just pure Sister blood. With this coating they could stride through the bloodtide without getting corrupted by its touch.

It's not a great piece, but that's what I get from it. I think the whole problem is that people assume there's only one form of corruption. Usually when we talk about something getting corrupted we mean the slow turning to Chaos, the darkness growing in you. But you can also get your body corrupted and against that your will doesn't have much to say. You can secure your soul, but you can't fight the warping of your body that the warp energies cause.

Red Hunters have pretty versatile tactics, which can be rather interesting to work with.

Imperial Fists tactics are straightforward, but make some otherwise meh options much more viable, such as heavy bolters. That extra variety is nice.

Exorcists get to choose tactics at the start of each fight, so hypothetically you could get the best of both worlds with them.

>>46840208
You choose a weapon to make all the attacks with, usually choosing the best weapon against the particular unit you are fighting. In your case, the rending claws will always be the best (they will make 3 attacks with rending claws, actually. 2 because A2, +1 due to having 2 or more melee weapons (CCW, Rending Claws, Pistol). If they charge, they'll have 4 attacks with one weapon.

A better example showcasing this is the Dark Eldar Demiklaives. The two blades can be used separately (for +1 attack due to 2 melee weapons, but only AP5) or combined into a single big-ass klaive for AP2 attacks. You can't mix and match your attacks because 1, that would screw up on counting how many attacks you have, and 2, because it would be too difficult to try to recombine the blades in the middle of swinging.

Why?
oh sure, you can come up with reasons why, but you have to draw from sections further way.

Hell, the 'the bloodtide was nanotech' sure as fuck isn't in there. It sounds like the name of the bloodthirsters host.

And it certainly sounds like being immune to the corruption could be caused by sufficient faith, because why else are the sisters immune. Or was it supposed to be that they were just lasting longer (again, not said in piece).

Again. I can see where it can be interpreted as you think it is, and it probably was intended to be that way. Now I'm just waiting for you to admit it's real easy to read that exact same thing and come to a different intepretation, and thus shit writting.

>Now I'm just waiting for you to admit it's real easy to read that exact same thing and come to a different intepretation, and thus shit writting.
>In addition to the other bits that make it shit writting
You're 100% right here. They do not specify why some sisters are immune. They don't even specify why some sentient ai nontech suddenly became daemon tech, under Lord of the Bloodtide. I agree that it is shit writing too. I won't justify any of that.

My only real point is the one I originally made in >>46839525 - Grey Knights are not 100% immune to corruption. They are immune by preparation, ritual, and intensive purification after every battle. In a plague where even the faithful were being instantly corrupted, and they don't specify why a few of the miracle-working sisters could be immune (yet others not), there is a lot of vague interpretation to be had. Knowing that GKnights CAN be corrupted, and that they must make rituals in extreme circumstances to prevent it, and that this is an extreme circumstance where the faithful are falling, it makes sense why they'd need the talisman - slaughtering sisters or not. But it is both vague and contrived, considering some of the sisters unspecified immunity.

I just wish they had fully expanded on the passage and given their reasons, rather than catering the to the massive backlash that was built around "totally incorruptible" assumptions and rewriting it as so. At the very least, they could have just specified that the sisters willingly martyred themselves, knowing they couldn't beat the daemons anyways.

I was looking at the characters for the Red Hunters and Exorcists, but I noticed that the Exorcists have this awesome one named Silas Alberec, yet the Red Hunters have none.

I suppose it would make sense, fluff wise, since the Red Hunters regularly undergo mind wipes.

Though, since the Red Hunters have their own chapter tactics, wouldn't that mean that they can't take any of the named characters? Also, their rule that states that they're battle brothers with Sisters and GK, but only if they have an inquisitor with them doesn't really make sense, why can't their rule just state that they're Battle Brothers with all of them anyways? It seems like it would be less convuluted.

And the opposite as well, since the Exorcists can use any Chapter Tactic, wouldn't that mean that they could swap out different Named Characters depwnding on their lists' current chapter tactics?

The SoB/GK thing is from 6e when not all Imperial armies were Battle Brothers, so you can basically disregard it.

That would mean that their special character could easily have whichever tactics you choose though.

Why'd he magnetise the waist? My understanding from seeing locals transport them is that the kit holds together in the middle just fine without glue or magnets.

Haha no, I'm an American but i just looked that up on google and that's hilarious. I do like the ship though, maybe I could write in a nautical element to my house, and use more of a sea green...
>>
>>46841672

No, that's the exact point where it becomes acceptable.

Bringing the complication of fliers sub-1000 or more than one to handle at 1000 is kinda dickish though.
>>
>>46841672
no, that is a standard casaul house rule. 1 flyer per 1000

When you have many magnets, everything looks like it needs magnetisation.

My manager reckons the same, although some people put sandpaper or something in the joint to give more resistance to toppling.

The Ork Buggy kit has a multi-melta in it as a weapon option. The current buggy rules (in fact the previous rules too) do not allow a multi-melta to be taken.

So GeeDubs just added a load more 'bundles' that don't seem to save you any money, for some reason...

Are they formations or something?
>>
>>46841672
personally I think it depends on which flyer it actually is. For example Ork Flyers could easily be acceptable 1 every 500-750 points, however stronger ones are usually around the 1k mark.

fuck it just occured to me that having the sisters martyr themselves would also have solved the problem of the sisters and their blood was immune and the GK weren't.

Have a reference to the librarian rembering a tome that stats 'the blood of matryrs of the purest faith' is anathema to the Bloodtide. The sisters who lived had faith enough to resist for a time, but felt the corruption seaping in Seeing that even the the faith of those sisters was not enough, the GK knew that Bloodtide could corrupt even them.

Thus the covering themselves in the sisters blood thing. Fuck, it's like 4 sentences.

having played a little with mine, they are pretty good.
Vector dancer is great, and they fuck fliers, though if you're facing multiple flies they can get fucked on the crack back. I think having vector dancer and fucking with movement and firing arcs is how you win there, but I'm still learning.

Outside that, they're pretty good at anti-vehicle and anti-elite, but 4 shots means they are kinda bad anti-infantry, and most super elites have good cover and invuln saves. But still good enough you don't feel like you're down 160 pts against a list with no fliers.

Actually, according to the rules for chapter's with unknown primogenitor/homebrew, you can use characters with x chapter tactic as a stand in for x character, or at keast from what I remember.

So theoretically, the Exorcists can use any SM character, though, only ones with the corresponding chapter tactics that they are currently using.

Which means that the Red Hunters can use 0 named characters.
