Haven't run a civ since I got a new PC, and they all seem to die when they begin.

First to 3 votes picks race
First to 3 votes picks place

No Instects - they are way too overdone
No Unseen - Not a huge fan of them
No Celestials/Demons - I find them OP and boring

Since people seem to want loxo lately, lets go with aquatic loxo.

That, or naked mole rat-folk.

What race is that?

I'd second either of these.

In which case, (even though loxo are an unofficial addition to the chart) just change my vote to the naked mole rat-folk skaven. There's already a second for it.

Maybe set it in the desert.

That being said, it'd be interesting to run a Not!Islamic civ not saturated with terrorism references.
>>
We are Skaven, and you are the Queen of your small pack.

At one point, we infested the sewers of a major human city. At night, we hunted, stole, kidnapped, whatever we wanted to make our lives happy. It’s our nature! How can someone blame another for being just who they are. Then he came… that new “Governor”. He formed that militia, he was what started it all, he was what pushed us out. At first, we tried to form back with the Mother Pack far to the south, but we were shunned. Our prolonged time in those sewers, the ones with the acidic waters, made us lose our fur. To us, it was joyous, we were unique and set apart from the other Skaven, but they too shunned us and forced us out. So we came back north, and headed east. Soon, we found our true home… these islands. We are just settling, but I will lead us back to what glory we used to have.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!! OFF WITH THE FUR!!!

What do you do?

All votes must be accompanied by a 1d100 roll. First option to reach 3 votes will have the rolls averaged together, and then the outcome will be decided. Some events will have a DC which will be declared when there is one. Stats will be posted after every story post.

>>

I had mentioned starting on our "anthill" and underground tunnels.
>>
>>46720156
Specify. Naked Mole Rats live underground, so most building would probably be done underground. A general commune will be provided in a second. But say, you want a place to keep prisoners, you need to tell me that. Or maybe the queen needs her own chambers? Let me know that as well
>>
>>46720201

Underground meeting quarter. Large, simple, and round.
>>
>>46720217
Seconding this. I think immediate build priorities should be building some living quarters, a meeting hall, and a food storage area. We'll need to explore for a food source first, though
>>
We have finally reached a place suitable enough to settling.
You decide it would be best to get a feel of your surroundings while you decide what the next steps are. You choose one the younger Skaven and send them west, in the direction of the human city. We need to know what lies between us and them. While he is gone, you have the able bodied Skaven begin digging. They dig far down, and then build a decent enough hole where the Pack can sleep safely enough.

Just as the Commune is finished being dug, you see your Skaven scout come scurrying back to the settlement. He seems a little worried, as well as overly excited about something. He tells you, Tolak, that your island isn’t that small! There is very little room on land for you to expand, but that shouldn’t be an issue if you go far enough below ground. But, on the other hand, there seem to be familiar looking tree species to the western islands. He thinks those trees are the same kind of trees thats’ roots grew into the sewers of your previous home. With this news, you decide that the group should rest for the night and proceed to carry on in the morning. The pack gathers into the Commune, and you all squeeze together comfortably, with you directly in the middle gathering the most heat. During the first night, you have a dream. You dream of the human city, full of bursting boils, the entire city reeks of sweat, and it’s wondrous. You then see yourself, standing atop the central castle tower, your hands outstretched, with greenish-black tendrils of smoke protrude from your palms.

What do you do in the morning?

Tolak wakes snickering, and very excited. You feel different, but what that means, is beyond you… for now. You tell the pack to start getting organized, because soon we will begin working at double the efficiency! You don’t become a force to be reckoned with by being lazy. Your first order of business is to get food. Some of the surrounding rivers are shallow enough to trek across, so you decide to head west towards the trees. While you’re hoping to find those delicious roots, it would also be nice to find some game. You gather the scout from yesterday (Name him maybe? NPC’s are cool) and a few other able bodied Skraven and head west. You travel for a while, maybe a few hours, and finally come across the trees that were spoken of. When you get there though, you notice some giant frog looking things picking at the trees and the surrounding grasses. They haven’t noticed you yet.

You approach the Frog-people, this is what you were born for.

“Well… hello, Frogs. You seem to be digging through what we were going to eat for dinner tonight! Now, I speak for my entire pack when I say this, but we don’t appreciate that much! Now, who are you, and why are you eating our food? We had thought frogs ate bugs and other nasty little things like that, would you say we are wrong?”

With obvious hostility in your voice, you try to make yourself seem approachable. You must claim dominance, but not scare them too much. As you speak, they jump and fall to the ground. They jump high, very high, but you caught them off guard. There are 3 of them, and 10 of you. Their mouths open and close before one of them speaks,

“We… are Bullywug. We new to islands! Home float away… we hungry! Hope find…. bug in root. We not know that this your food!! We ask mercy!”

Their common is not as good as your, almost every word had a ‘ribbit’ in between it, but they managed to make some sense to you. Your common on the other hand is honed and refined nicely, since you lived beneath the humans for many years. They begin setting roots at your feet, as well as some bugs that they found.

>Last round of event

>>46719760
You're actually right, it is misinterpreted by the West, and the Imams aren't helping since they purposefully spread that misinterpretation to appeal to a younger generation. They're not "virgins" in the way we understand it, but celestial beings meant to make your existence comfortable in death.
>>
As they are talking, you grow bored very quickly of them talking. You begin thinking about your new home and what needs to be done, when you get an idea. Just as they finish putting food at your feet, you look to them and say,

“My brothers, come work in our mines, and we'll guarantee you shelter and food. Pesky things you're struggling to get right now by yourselves!”

There is a lot of ribbiting very quickly after that, but it ends just as soon as it starts. They jump up to their feet, gather what pitiful belongings they had, and pledge they’re loyalty to you. It is only 3 of them, but they are willing to work. Two of them begin marching in the direction of which you came, but the last one extends his hand to shake yours. You take his hand, hesitantly, and shake. During so, you begin to think about the dream you had. Nothing seems to happen immediately, but as he departs, you see a boil beginning to form on the back of his neck.

This makes you smile.

While OP answers our questions and leaves, I'll feel this thread should now be devoted to working out our Not!Islam religion.

I don't feel like they see their plague powers as evil you see, but more of a passive form of warfare that returns their enemies to the earth to continue the cycle of heaven.
>>
>>46722787
i will, I have a little notepad going! I can go make a twitter for game announcements. I can't give an exact game schedule, as things are a little hectic right now with my scheduling. I hope to do it once a week.

>>
>>46722879
Seems fair.

If we can develop a way for our plague to confer benefits and minimize suffering for our new frog-friends, that'd be pretty neat. We could chalk it up to utilitarianism which we'd use in both burrow-building and dealings with other races.

We rummaged through the humans' garbage, they killed some of us. We sought recompense and agreement, and they killed some of us. We hid in the sewers. They killed some of our children, we took their children.

Letting thread die now, pick up where we left off later. Goodnight and thanks for joining me!! Be sure to follow my twitter for game updates
