You already bought right right anon?
>>
I really don't like the model. and I have over 7k points in space marines(black templars). I get that its a play off an old model, that is probably the only thing cool about it to me. But yeah, no interest, I'd rather spend money on betrayal at calth and some alpha legion stuff from forgeworld.
>>
>>46707925
No, I've already sold my soul to the mechanicuck taghmata, no going back baby

I can't add it to my cart, is it already sold out?

Scalper here, just bought two and put them on ebay for £50 each, starting.

Why would I bother if I can just get a recast from based chinaman for 5-7 USD?
>>
>>46707925
I got two, one for me and one for eventual trade fodder (still trying to get a 25th anny marine)
>>

I see some devious store owner is making illegal money.

I love that it's wearing tit armor on its knees
>>
>>46708695
they copied it from that ridged armor plate that used to be popular.
I disliked it when it was the norm on every marine but I actually approve of it on this model since it doesnt become overwhelming on a single model.

and I want like 30 of the guns to use as combi gravs.
>>
>>46708695

oh boy instant death pistols.

>>
>>46709400
Yeah I think so, you should be okay. Generally speaking GW's customer service is absolute topnotch.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure many store owners were keeping to jackup the prices, which is highly illegal, and really fucking bad ethically speaking.

On the fb page a guy was ralking about the Glasgow GW manager that has called dibs on 50% of the orders to then seel them higher. Like, no man, there are laws about that.
>>
>>46709312
>>46709329

There is literally no god damn fucking reason for any Space Marine player to not use this model.

It's an instant free fucking upgrade.

It replaces any other bog standard marine for free.

It's how they convinced people to buy this fucking ugly, blocky piece of shit.
>>
>>46709452
Look st eBay this cunt has them at 50 quid each and more than 10 available
That's 320 quid profit minus postage of 50 quid per 10 models
Reminds me of the cunts who own plumbing companies - they get free iPads etc for every 10 boilers they buy and don't give them to staff they sell em
>>
>>46709534
some of us like the model.

>tfw GW store in my city had a neat little event with food and stuff for the celebration
I got a cute little Space Marine pin included too, though I thought GW also included a small poster of that image with the original RT Marines art along with the rules. Oh well.

The model itself is cool as fuck. I'm gonna use the pistol as an Archeotech pistol in 30k, and the helmet seems fully capable of being modded onto another model.

8/10 might go get another later
>>
>>46709534
Or you can model it with a straw and some grenn stuff, for $0.25.

I like the model

It's a cool figure. I love the '80s, and beakies are the only mehreens that actually look good. I'm still not paying $30 for a single man-sized plastic figure. Fuck that. If I want it badly enough, I'll buy from glorious chinaman and feel zero guilt about it.

The collectors and scalpers are out of control, and the market is not sustainable. Who else remembers the '90s comic book scene, when a dozen "first issues" came out every month, and everything was poly-bagged and had multiple covers? None of that shit held any value when the bubble popped and the market returned to sanity. Paying the sticker price on this fig is ridiculous enough; paying some scalper's markup just retarded.

'80s Citadel figs have some collectible value because they were cheap, disposable trash that kids could afford, and that most didn't bother to preserve, especially in their original packaging. The kids grew up, and some became "collectors" and used their adult money to recapture some childhood nostalgia. That's why there's a halfway-decent secondary collectors' market for old Citadel. Those factors don't apply to figs coming out today.

Is there anywhere to get the Index Astartes Apocrypha?

I got two of the Imperial Space Marine but did not realize that the book was being sold on the same day.
>>
>>46727828
>Those factors don't apply to figs coming out today.

I mostly agree with you but the figs of today are all plastic (or recently finecrap) which means a lot of them are getting ruined by kids.

Yeah sure there are scalpers and neckbeards hoarding them away but every time someone pops one of these and paints it they drop the value to almost nothing. The old figs could be dropped in acetone and look good as new, even if you can get most of the paint off a plastic fig you usually end up with staining and that ignores how well the previous owner managed to glue the thing together with plastic glue.
>>
>>46727828
This, I think this whole debacle may be the tipping point, people acting crazy and scalpers everywhere.

They are being squeezed out of the old hammer community which is good, if gw went full merchant and announced they'd be making the new model non-limited id applaud them.
>>
>>46709452
>>46727249
What happened at glasgow was weird, they had about 30 for regular sale then kept about 40 at the checkout which were there for free if you dropped £100 in the shop. I know that was always part of the deal but they definitely held back too many, there was about 50 odd people queued up before opening even.
>>
>>46727904
You make a good point - plastic is inarguably more fragile and destroyable than lead, and that will help the oversupply issues the collectors' market is going crash into.

Still, how many of these limited super-special edition investment-grade figures are being carefully filed away without being opened in the idiotic hope that they'll pay for some sucker's retirement? I'd bet my right arm it's a hell of a lot more than '80s Citadel blister packs ever were, and those are still not even all that valuable.
>>
>>46727418

It's definitely something we're going to see unravel with time, but I think that a lot of these figures will see a small appreciation in value. In 2005 I bought a couple extra of the limited GD fig to resell and help cover the cost of my ticket (possibly makes me a terrible person but it was event only and not everyone could go). I sold them at £25 each and even today they haven't appreciated past that point, they do still sell for more than the 7 or 8 quid they were at GD though. The GW collectors market has never really been a strong long term proposition.
>>
>>46728043
I've nothing against profit but this latest thing is emblematic of GW.

If they had of made it not limited edition the could have sold it for cheaper as success for plastic sprues is long term sales, otherwise it should have been a metal mould.
>>
>>46728282
they haven't made metal for years
>>
>>46728231
idk, I have a few full sets of NIB Diaz seekers.

Those are worth a hell of a lot more than I paid for them.
>>
>>46728302
You could say the same about old school beakies with death rays.

The thing with plastic is volume is key so it would make sense to now have a plastic sprue as limited edition, metal moulds are far cheaper which is why one-off figures at wargames shows are often in metal.

It would have been a nice nostalgia thing...but instead we have a plastic mini that's overpriced and probably took an afternoon to design on CAD.
>>
>>46728472
consider aluminium mould tooling costs are significantly lower for short run plastics and the fact that everywhere sold out of these in about an hour and I don't think they're that bothered
>>
>>46728528

>The games workshop had a very talented sculptor create a tiny figurine of a Space Marine. I thought it was amazing but I decided to design them the way I thought they should look, bulky and covered with power armour. I wanted the Marines to be as terrifying and imposing as possible at the time. These Marines had to face incredible foes and I came up with the idea of them being really bulked up on chemicals and larger than the average human. I’m not sure if I ever explained that concept to anyone at the Games Workshop, but they loved the direction of the illustrations and I just kept going.

Really wish I could get some prints or something. I would honestly spend so much money if GW sold more RT art prints like the ones they gave away on the 30th marine anniversary.

I think I have the original of this figure somewhere. Some years ago GW would have put a model like this on the front of their magazine for free, now they artificially limit it just to charge a premium. It makes absolutely no sense with a plastic miniature. I'm sure they could have made 4-5 times as many and charged half the price and made a lot more.

I think GW are just expensive for the sake of looking 'premium'.
>>
>>46745116

I'd understand if it was 24" or didn't have Gets Hot, but honestly everyone who complains about this thing has to either be a hyper paranoid cheeselord or just some really bad fucking player.

War Convo gets free super guns on everything and marines get free transports on everything but one free shitty plasma is worth all this fuss?
>>
>>46746697
>I think GW are just expensive for the sake of looking 'premium'.

They literally stated this in their shareholder report. It was something like they want to be/think they are the Ferrari of wargaming so "price appropiately".

Branding and pricing higher than something is worth is a real business tactic. It's how all supercar companies work and how luxury handbag companies work. If you make the price too low, it actually turns off some customers. Like Apple and Coca-Cola, they price higher than they need to.
>>
>>46747025
Problem is GW are not making super cars and its going to bite them in the arse.

Nobody but scalpers would be turned off if they actually released things at a comparable price to similar kits.

Doesn't stop their idiotic fanboys claiming they HAVE to charge that much though, I have been called 'insane' for pointing out other companies make kits of better quality for 25% of the price per model or less. As if it was impossible to make a profit without charging £3.50 for a hideous monopose dwarf.

sometimes there are decent deals though, like the two knights box for $155 w/ some scenery (std 20% off), or the genestealer cult box that's got some great sculpts and that i've been waiting for since 1989.

thankfully they don't run tournaments and most people don't give two shits about proxies as long as they aren't full retard.
>>
>>46750020
Most of the deals are only good in comparison to their normal prices though.

The knight box is surprisingly good I admit, I just don't think knights should be in normal 40k. Apocalypse started this nonsense but nobody seems to play it, they just play big games of normal 40k.

It is supposedly due a reboot, but in it's current status it isn't supported by GW at all. You can't buy any minis for it from them. Nearly everyone who plays Epic plays NetEpic, usually with proxy minis from third party manufacturers.

It's also a much better game than 40k for these large scale battles. It relies on actual tactics and not just buying the most overpowered flavour of the month.

I would have bought from GW, but their limited edition mini, to be sold across two days, to celebrate their biggest line's 30th Birthday sold out in about 25 minutes.

Which means, they made about 1000

so it means you either buy one for £50 off a scalper.

or you buy a £3 off chinaman.
