My favorite dungeon was a contrived, ridiculous piece of shit that defied physics, logic, and time. It was my first dungeon. I should probably be ashamed of it but it was my first and always brings back memories of college and old friends.

My GM ran a homebrew dungeon that required a whole quest just to find the secret to opening it. When we got inside, we found an ancient fortress filled with traps, puzzles, and monsters, some of which respawned after we killed them. We found out that all of the monsters and NPC's in the dungeon were bound there by a curse, and if we failed to beat the Dungeon Crawl our souls would also be bound there, and we'd become monsters as well.
We were down there for three IC days, camping where we found a sanctuary from the near-constant attacks and traps.
If all that wasn't bad enough, while the dungeon contained very strong treasure, it also had a huge mess of cursed items, some of whose effects still ended up being beneficial, like a magic longsword that the wielder could not control, and so would strike by itself, dragging the wielder along. The good part came when it turned out the sword was an expert combatant.
When we finally completed the dungeon, we freed the souls of everyone in the Dungeon, and got to help ourselves to a generous reward, including having ourselves rid of all the Curses and Cursed items on us.
