I've never played any of the other sets, but have a feeling that this will take up a good chunk of my day tomorrow. Hopefully the learning curve isn't too steep, nor the manual too thick. I've already spent a month almost learning how to play mage knight! I'm hoping this picks up and plays a little quicker.

OK, back to magic cards!
First we will open this. This is probably about all I'm going to open from this set. I used to buy 2 boxes of every set when it released, but I think I'm just sticking to opening older set. With standard sets, you've got to sell most of it off on release weekend, then rebuy if you need to, then sell again before rotation. I don't like all that hassle.
Plus older sets seem to have better janky EDH playables in the commons and uncommons. My opinion anyways.
I almost just skipped buying any sealed SOI entirely, but figured I'd open a fat pack to get a feel for the set. And hopefully get a sweet spin down die!

Dedicated Rare slot like usual
Dedicated Flip spot
and a third slot for land/extra flip card/checklist I think?

It's like the last innistrad block, where each pack is (I think) guaranteed a flip card. The list of flip cards includes rares, and doesn't replace the rare slot. I remember pulling Huntmasters in the same way.

Buying singles is almost always the best choice, blah blah blah. I'm honestly not sure on the rarity distribution, but I think mythics are 1/8. Don't quote me on that.

SoI technically has a higher chance of mythics than other sets.
You could potentially get a mythic as your rare, a mythic as your guaranteed flip, and a mythic as your foil/extra flip.
But if you're that lucky, you should be fucking playing the lottery.
And here's my sealed deck. I'm not very good at limited! Critiques are welcomed!
I went with vampires and wolf/werewolf tribal that does some madness things. I tend to do best when I just put good bodied creatures on the board. Black and red had this better than the other colors. And a range of OK spells. Then 18 lands.
Eh, it's okay. I'm not sure it would be great though.

you can make it a thing for sure. I remember some GU dredge deck with that one legendary that makes people draw when a creature hits an opponent, cant recall the name. But by all means anon, brew something up.

I know how you feel. I have a good collection, been playing since 1999 but these days, I play some Magic Duels just to see the new cards (some) in action. I have absolutely no budget for magic, and when I can squeeze a 30$ or something, I get a new pack of two of netrunner since I already know whats in the pack and its to fix/create some specific deck to play at home.
oh well. Magic Duels aint that great, but its a free alternative to mess around.

Honestly, they should just make a not shit version of MTGO like how duels look charge 10$ per expansion when a new block comes out, all sets in block are then paid for and you can earn gold every day like HS. Still able to buy packs just can't trade.
Throw in a few action specific sfx/animations for things like flying or flip shit.
You can play modern on it too.
That'd be literally all they'd need to do.

Mythics are 1:6. Here are 6 per box (unless pack substitution, but that's unlikely). So 6 per box unless wizards anti box mapping screws you over.
