This is how I've played every Lawful Good. Even if you know saving everyone is impossible, it's not wrong to want to save everyone. Even if you know a happy ending is impossible, it's not wrong to want a happy ending. Even if you know the world is just going to disappoint you, it's not your fault if it refuses to prove you wrong. If the villain is going to kill a hundred people tomorrow if you save ten people today, then save ten today knowing you have until tomorrow to save the other hundred.
