Irrelevant, every description says they're black. If you'll take a look at any depicion of a drow they aren't pure black, so off colors are used for the sake of making their features visible in art. In that picture it can be reasonably said that the dude and the baby have black skin, but the same doesn't apply to the mother who is very pale and light skinned.

Not all drow families are noble houses. Normal drow rely more heavily on their family group for survival. The lady is the head of the house, but if she didn't think the male was worth having around, she would have knifed him rather than having his kid.

Drow are great. They're one of my favorite fantasy races/cultures, so I do try and chase down a lot of art for them.

My issue is that there's so little GOOD drow artwork. By that I mean sharp, photorealistic, good anatomy and proportions, well-drawn, and good composition and concept.
You want human adventurers of all stripes? No problem. Elves? Sure, arguably even better than humans in terms of the availability of high-quality artwork. Vampires, Angels, and succubi aren't as common... but the number of very high-quality pieces is very high. Ditto for dragons and orcs.
I get races like beholders and illithids. They're protected IP belonging to a game company. But drow are public domain, and more likely to be in a fantasy game than angels and succubi. They're also usually very hot, or at least can be hot. And elves do fine.
So why is there so much mediocre drow art, but so very little truly excellent character art?

See what I mean? If you look at the face, it's clearly some high school or college amateur who's struggling to get the face right. Expressions are wooden. Shading is mediocre. Lighting is unimaginative.
This one has some good ideas with color and composition. The face has some expression. It's technically far better... but even it has anatomy/proportions problems. It's a professional pic that's good but not great.
