I don't understand WotC's design decisions for MtG.
Last set they put all this emphasis on specific cards that produce and require anus mana and then they release cards like this in this set, which allow you to produce that sort of mana whenever you like. Why do their decisions always seem to be self-destructive?

What do they accomplish by making colorless mana exempt from this? Also, assuming you're right, it doesn't mention five colors at all. It says 'any color' which has to include the new mana symbol as well.

There's only six types of mana. The five colors and colorless.
Snow is a cost like hybrid mana. It just means "this mana can only be paid with mana that was produced by a snow source". A Snow-Covered Forest still just makes green mana.
