I usually use the term "grounded" rather than realistic when I make these kinds of requests. It gives a better picture than realistic in my opinion.

Not OP but I think a lot about how our imagination, as a culture, has been cartoonized. When I was a kid I'd imagine everything I read or watched in a very realistic fashion. Everything felt gritty and mature because it was so in my head. Sinbad the Sailor gave me nightmares. Pokemon was this incredibly weird tale about kids capturing bizarre animals. As I grew up I've largely lost the ability to imagine fantastic stories in a realistic fashion which I think is a great shame.

That armor isn't overtly huge anon. Not to mention that pic related's armor is also perfectly reasonable. A creature of immense size and strength can wear more armor.

this was done IRL too , the arm that carries the shield was usually more protected because 1.you dont need as much flexibility as with a sword or other weapon and it helps with protection because you can concentrate on protecting the whole body without worrying to much about getting wrecked from the left while you are protection your right side.
of course , darksouls also stylizes its armors , so it would be exaggerated

yeah , but it is pretty dissapointing to see a huge fucking beast and you see it cant do shit against you. It just feels that the size is just played for effects , some real rethinking of tactics would be far more interresting game-play wise. with bigger enemies , blocking and relying on armor should be a quick death , so you have to avoid getting hit at all while you can rely on brute force against human-sized things.

It's hard to make a big monster a fair fight in the souls combat system.

Fuckhueg guys like Tower Knight get the short end of the stick because if you made them realistic then the player wouldn't be able to win at all.

Meanwhile small guys have the opposite problem, if you make them unrealistic they'd be too easy so you have to make them realistic, so they become the series icons.

Artorias, FKA, Alonne, etc.

The closest you can come is a middling sized beast like Manus or the Bloodborne bosses, small enough to benefit from small guy syndrome but big enough to benefit from big guy syndrome

It is a different feeling having weight distributed across your body vs. having it backpacked or in your arms.

I could strap a lot of workout weights to my arms and legs and still be fairly nimble (although tire sooner), but if I had a heavy backpack or heavy bag in my arms my balance would be different.

having weight on your limbs makes you as nimble as a mace compard to a sword of equal weight. well , at least it strongly reduces your movability after you used up enough stamina. Assuming your equipment adds around 30% of your own weight , that is quite tiresome
