The humble plasma gun. I love how it looks like a raygun from the 1950's.
My DH2E character used a twin linked bolt pistol, whith a belt magazine.
Better than a stormbolter in that it can fire in melee.
I owned one before, but I sold it during the 2013 happening to get a 226. Wish I hadn't sold it - I like the 226 but it was an AK I got for 500 circa 2010 (sold it for almost twice as much, but now AKs are almost twice as much as they were back then).
I love how simple it was. And when I fired it I was amazed how damn well 0 recoil I had - remarkably much more noticable recoil firing a rented AR15 a few years later. But it is elegant in its simplicity and straightforwardness.
I've never used one but I'd love to get a FAL, and I like how Galilis look too.

Not him, but I am an 11B. The Mk19 requires a shit-ton more maintenance than the M2, and as he describes, is far more prone to malfunction. Whenever we run a live-fire with the Mark, we always make sure to have at least one spare weapon on standby, simply because if one jams on the line, it's either going to be a simple fix or require so much time and effort that's more efficient to just replace it. The M2 will work in pretty much any conditions, and is a hell of a lot simpler to field-strip and fix if something goes seriously wrong.

As someone who owns a Thompson: you shoot a stick mag unless you NEED the drum, or you're sick of having money. Drum fire can be more than a little fiddly, as you're supposed to be winding the spring AS you empty the drum. Sustained 50 round fire just isn't / wasn't a thing.

There are bullets in the axles. Every time you fire the wheel rotates so the next axle is lined up. It's basically just a bunch of magazines with their bottoms glued together. You probably load it through the tops of the mags, just like normal.

To my sci-fi eye, I immediately see this as some civilian variety of the E-11, perhaps a hunting version, with synthetic wooden furniture. Of course, the more discerning operator could have one made with real wood furniture, perhaps ithorian, so you know that it has thoughts and feelings while you use it to shoot things.
I'm working on a steampunk setting that's vaguely based on the mid-late 1800s, so this is a lot of very useful stuff. I've spent a long time watching youtube videos of old fat guys talking about colt revolvers, henry rifles, flintlock, matchlock, snider-enfield, mosin-nagant, all that stuff, so it's good to see just some quality artistry and fantasy.

From what I hear, a lot of modern arms designers, possibly militarys, have really embraced the whole ''whoever gets the most bullets on target fastest wins'' idea

They do have momentum, but to get anywhere near the same neighbourhood as a regular old bullet, you'd have to shoot an absolutely absurd amount of them. As in, somewhere in the neighbourhood of the number that hit the earth per secon. At that point you don't even have to worry about the shot's kinetic aspect anymore, because firing a lasgun would be akin to setting off a small nuke or really big regular bomb.
