Sounds like my situation OP.
The answer is to improvise a shitty, dull session now and then never come back to it. Your players have lost interest and there's nothing you can do to sway them in almost any case, even if they're close friends or whatever. Nip this one in the bud and wander off to Roll20 or something where at the very least the players went out of their way to play a game with people.

Tell that player that you built an entire session around their character, and that you're disappointed that they couldn't come, because you put a lot of work into making something fun for him.
For your other players, just use a random dungeon generator and send them on a little crawl. I'm sure you can find some way to tie it in.
