How do I go about making a Fallout tabletop game? What are some core things I should have in it? The different factions, modifying weapons, etc?
>>
>>46339039
Deathclaws. Or something equally as strong/fast
>>
>>46339480
Playable Deathclaws.
>>
>>46339039
There's already at least one fallout RPG

The fallout vidya was originally supposed to be based on GURPS, but I think they didn't let them use the mechanics or something, so they sort of mimicked GURPS and wound up with their own thing.
>>
>>46339503
Good sentient deathclaws like the ones in that one vault in fallout 2
>>
>>46339039
Make starvation part of the game, both for the players and for NPCs.
>>
>>46339039
There is a GURPS Fallout pdf floating out there you could grab. It works pretty well.

How about you search for this same exact thread that we had last week, and the week before, and the week before, and the week before...
Better yet, how about we all quit responding to these cancerous fucking "How do I _?" threads
>>
>>46339705
Ah yes let's replace these threads with even more fucking quest/creation threads.
>>
>>46339705
If it's about traditional games, why should I not post it?
>>
>>46339480
>>46339503
Seriously?
You'd have to limit them being very young when they start and only using unarmed. And have people be fucking terrified of them. Like tieflings.

No

Anon how can you expect others to quit responding when clearly you yourself cannot?
>>
>>46339829
you are a literal retard
>>46339931
there are literally dozens of these threads each week from insecure faggot manlets who are unable to figure out how to play a imagination-based game in the way that they want without asking a bunch of other pathetic faggots if that would be quite alright with them

read much?

where else am I supposed to complain about something other than where I see it happening?
>>
>>46340240
You're a very angry person aren't you. You do realize the whole purpose of this board is to make conversation with others about tabletop games right?

If you don't like it, then just ignore the threads, it'll save you some time instead of ranting about dumb shit.
>>
>>46339645
Nice thing about GURPS is that since it's a universal system you can take that PDF and just convert the nuts and bolts of it to your game system of choice. or if you prefer more rules lite system like Fate just use it for insparation or something
>>
>>46339039
Try ops and tactics

it has action points built in. everything is is balance to taste. It even has good laser and energy weapons to go with your fluff and flavor.
>>
>>46340420
>where else am I supposed to complain about something other than where I see it happening?

Easy. Nowhere. You're supposed to act like a mature human being and realize that public message boards do not revolve around your interests and your's alone.

You then ignore or prehaps hide threads that hold no interest to you and go about your day rather than throw tantrums in them like a spoiled child in a toystore.
>>
>>46340441
>You're a very angry person aren't you
not really
>You do realize the whole purpose of this board is to make conversation with others about tabletop games right?
In part, however my problem is not discussing things, quite the opposite. People who make these threads don't want to discuss anything, they want to be told how they should represent fictional concepts in a game of the imagination, as if that isn't one of the most subjective things possible.
Otherwise, they would frame their "discussion" differently; "tell me how to create a Fallout rpg" is not a valid discussion
>ranting about dumb shi
that is what this board is actually for
>>
>>46340553
I'm not. This has nothing to do with anyone's interests, I like Fallout as much as the next nerd.
I am, however, allowed to point out things that I disagree with and discuss them instead.
At what point have I been throwing a tantrum? As opposed to discouraging behavior I disagree with?
>>
>>46340617
>they want to be told how they should represent fictional concepts in a game of the imagination

Golly I wonder how will they be told such things?

Hint:
in a discussion
>>
>>46340731
"here is a fallout rpg that exists" is not a discussion, it is a poor substitute for a search engine
>>
>>46340731
if OP is already a fan of Fallout he should know what kind of factions/weapons enemies should be in it. If he hasn't even played the games, then he is asking you to be Google
>>
>>46340710
>At what point have I been throwing a tantrum?

here >>46339705
here >>46340240
here >>46340420
and here >>46340617

You have no interest in the topic on hand, that's all well and good, you're intitled to your opinion and all that, but the moment you barge into a thread and start demanding people stop talking about the topic of said thread rather than ignoring it and finding (or prehaps starting) a thread that does intest you, you are throwing a tantrum.
>>
>>46339705
>stop asking for advice regarding how to do things in tabletop games
>in the traditional gaming board

I'm feeling generous. Have another (you)

Actually, they where supposed to use GURPS, and Steve Jackson was super pumped about it. Then they cut contact with SJGames and released a statement about how both companies decided it was best not to use GURPS, which came as a surprise to Steve Jackson as he didn't remember that conversation, and to this day he claims to have never gotten an explanation or even a call from someone as to why.

Which is why Jackson is unwilling to ever work with video game developers, the first ones he found where assholes to him.
>>

If anything the SPECIAL system is closer to BRP

Anon, it's called "this is not a test" the kickstarter for the soft rulebook ends soon.

>>46339503
Deathclaws are a thing

>>46339568
Supposedly "hardcore" rules are coming later on

>>46340465
Good for Modern tactics, not good for fallout nor a good necromunda lite.
>>
>>46342617
>This is Not a Test
isn't that a wargame, or are they actually making it a real RPG?
i know this is a stretch, but you could use Mercs spies and Private Eyes for something like Fallout/Wasteland like games
>>
Whatever system you use you'll need to have a very robust and indepth salvage/scavenge/forage system in place. I'd recommend finding/making some really massive loot tables, and plenty of them.

You'll need to cover different enemy types (ferals, super mutants, robots, wildlife, raiders), different locations (school, factory, wilderness, radioactive hotspot, et cetera), and different sub-tables for each of those (eyebot vs robo-brain, toy factory vs nuka-cola bottling plant, tribal slaver vs enclave soldier).
>>
>>46339039
Several already exist. They're terrible.

Savage Worlds can do it with pretty much no effort.

Gamma World essentially IS Fallout. It's d20 though, so it's terrible.

Apocalypse World is pretty close. A lot of people love it, I haven't tried it myself.

Atomic Highway is also similar, basically a Mad Max simulator. Decent system.

>how about we all quit responding to these cancerous fucking "How do I _?" threads
I mean, I agree that we have these same threads every week and it's boring.

But virtually EVERY thread on this board is one that we have every week and regurgitates the same responses and images verbatim. I mean, if we really stopped posting in repeat threads, the board would never move at all. Maybe you just come here too often. I know I do.

Base it on the real Fallout games - 1, 2 and New Vegas. Bethesda a shit.

>>46345126
I still prefer 3 to New Vegas. The way they played up the retro-futurism angle made the setting really interesting. Their ultimate failure to do the same thing in Fallout 4 bit them pretty hard.

New Vegas was good, but I got so fucking tired of being some pissant errand boy for a bunch of characters with the emotional range of a wooden plank. Yeah Fallout 3 characters were silly, but at least they were a tolerable kind of boring.

Also. The Mojave is bland as fuck. Just in general.

>The Mojave is bland as fuck

Pretty accurate to the real life Mojave, heh. I live in Vegas and the Mojave desert is pretty boring, with the exception of Red Rock. It's not nearly as interesting as Southern Arizona's Sonoran Desert.

>there's a popular new vegas flora mod that puts in saguaro cacti and claims to be an accurate representation of the actual mojave

ugh...

I'd go with the one on Blogspot, to be honest (assuming it's still there). Or fuck, just screwing around with the sci-fi companion for half an hour and making ghouls and super muties as playable races with that

I like this one the best. It's Fallout in everything but the name.
>>
>>46346038
Both 3D games are pretty crowded. First person perspective in nation-scale exploration RPG is a mistake.

That said, I absolutely adore design in Fallout 4, half-ruined city is what I wanted as Fallout setting for some time. Shame they slacked on many things in favour for stupid things in terms of gameplay.
>>
>>46339039
You get yourself a copy of GURPS Basic Set, High-Tech, Ultra-Tech, Low-Tech and you're pretty much good.
>>
>>46345156
No, SJ sent a note back about one item and then found out a few days later that Black Isle had pulled out without notifying him. The SPECIAL system was in there pretty quickly so I've always wondered if they never really intended to use GURPS in the first place.
