So, /srg/, given how awful and polluted large parts of the globe are, especially whatever sprawl you happen to be running in, how do you keep yourself safe from acid rain and other pollutants? It's not mentioned enough, imo, that the air outside might blister your skin on an off day.

Personally, I prefer ponchos; they're cheap and available in a wide variety of patterns from almost anywhere, the plastic keeps the rain off for a few days, they can be disposed of or acquired easily for disguises, and they hide all kinds of goodies beneath the drape.

Plus, you can get a nice upscale one for when you want to be a regular citizen.
>>
>>46331056
skin-tight clothing helps with the acid rain, and works wonders for infected characters with sunlight allergies.

Yes they're big, compared to humans.

Yes, there is almost certainly a TROLLED host out there.

I doubt they'd have too many growths down there, there's no bone to anchor them, but the skin is probably still pretty rough and thick.

Doubt there would be direct transplants, people can afford cybernetic and bioware-enhanced cocks.
>>
>>46331056
So the DR of an RCC... You split that number for shared autosofts, compatible cybersoftware & noise reduction?

So The Triox UberMensch with a DR of 6 could have 2 shared autosofts linked to slaved drones, 2 programs and a noise reduction of 2?
>>
How important is Astral Perception for an adept? I'm still juggling my infiltrator (physical and social), and was wondering if it's a decent idea to trade some combat prowess for some scouting/investigation. How often does it get used in campaigns in your experience, and when it is used, has it been actually useful or was it just there for flavour?
>>
>>46331500

Astral Perception will let you see magical defenses, which can be pretty handy. It also lets you use Assensing, which is a great way to get a picture of somebody's capabilities (how cybered they are, how magic they are, etc.)

However, if you team has a mage, it's probably going to be more their job. Not that doubling up is a bad idea, just something to keep in mind.

With rccs and drones, can you buy all the programs/autos you might want/need, then choose which ones to run active? Can a drone have autos on passive, allowing them to benefit from the rcc's sharing when required?
>>
>>46331695
I don't see why not, the caveat with cyberprograms (not autosofts) is that you can only use one program of EACH type so if you allocated 2 of 6 of your RCC's DR to cyberprograms, you'd be able to use one of the progs under common and one under hacking (limited to the list on 269)

I'd say that there's still an advantage to having software stored on drones locally so that you can use RCC DR slots on noise reduction.
>>
>>46331554

Can't you use astral perception to survey your surroundings to see living things as well? Seems very handy to an infiltrator who is often alone, trying to look a way to get the team in clean&quiet.

And as you said, redundancy is not a bad idea.
>>
>>46331500
Primordial for an infiltrator. Unless you want to enter a room full of guards waiting for you because you couldn't even see the spirit that raised the alarm while you bumbled around.

>>46331963
That is helpful, but given how much security is mechanical or sensors it's not really a foolproof plan. There could be a dozen drones between you and the target and you'd (almost) never know.
>>
>>46331963
Astral perception doesn't let you look through walls
>>
>>46332014

Of course she'd use normal senses as well, and not just rely on astral perception. If you have suggestions on how to help perceive technological threats, I'm all ears.

>>46332010

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured.
>>
>>46332159
>If you have suggestions on how to help perceive technological threats, I'm all ears.

Go to AR, and (ab)use Matrix Perception. Hell, mod your comlink to install an Agent on it that does that for you and reports the location of any device it detects.

This will not work on security systems operating on direct connection, but you can deduce the location of anything connected wirelessly that way.
>>
>>46331773
Huh, I thought the 'one of each' meant you just couldn't run any duplicate programs (ex. 2x sneak, or three copies of armor). Given Shell is cumulative with other programs, I'm inclined to think the restriction only applies to multiple instances of the same program, but I'm still figuring all the matrix stuff out.
>>
>>46332228

Neat. I'm really starting to see why one of the posters in a previous thread said that I should prioritise skills.

A skills
B magic
C attributes
D metatype (elf)
E cash (spend karma to get some spending money)

That about right?
>>
>>46332303
Nope, you're right. Personally I blame the book.

Hey /srg/, what do you think of my One-Armed gunslinger adept?

http://pastebin.com/KZGGVf19

The jist of the character is that he is roughly sixty, and lost his arm in a car crash in the 2020s.
At the time, his parents were too poor to afford augmentation, so he went about life with one arm. He eventually got very interested in American history in the 5th world, and despite his single arm, revolvers.
Once he awakened as an adept, he made a name for himself in shooting competitions (in that he would just use an old pair of Warhawks with basic irons instead of laser sights and smartlinks), not enough to live in luxury, but combined with working at a local museum he lived an alright life.
Then, when Crash 2.0 hit he lost his SIN, bank account, basically everything, and became SINless. Ever since he's been living in the barrens, mostly just caring for his pistols, reading old history books on his commlink, and surviving.
After experiencing two crashes over the course of his life, he's not exactly up for embracing new technology, and combined with the fact that he would "lose some of who he was", even if he has the nuyen for a cyberarm, he'd opt not to get one.
MO in combat is to use attribute boost the first turn to roll 7 dice and (hopefully) get 2 hits to boost Agi up to augmented maximum, and then use my other action to quickdraw and fire one of the Rugers. Once/if that revolver runs out of ammo, holster it, and quickdraw the other. Hopefully he won't need to fire more than six shots in a round, but once I initiate for the first time I'll probably pick up nimble fingers to make reloading with one arm easier.
>>
How can I make unarmed really good as a human?
>>
>>46332872

>>
>>46332648
How do you reload with only one arm?
>>
>>46332648
>runner name is 'Old Top'
>not 'One-armed Bandit'
You had one job, anon...
>>
>>46333007
Carefully.

Alternatively, a speedloader.
>>
>>46333007
Method 1) use your holster, insert mag
Method 2) place weapon in between your knees, insert mag
Method 3) kneel, use the kneejoint, insert mag
T. /k/fag
>>
>>46333048
Could you use a gambler's rig with a speed loader for maximum fast-going? Don't even have to let go of your piece.
>>
>>46333007
>Unhinge cylinder
>Remove spent casings
>Place revolver down/brace in armpit/hoslter/etc
>Grab bullets/speedloader
>Place bullets/speedloader in cylinder
>Close cylinder
>Pick up revolver/remove from armpit/brace/etc
Basically reloading is hard as fuck, that's why he carries two fully loaded Rugers at all times.

>>46333026
I can easily change it, Old Top is just a working name.
>>
>>46333048
>>46333084
>>46333118
You know, even though the character only has one arm, you don't actually suffer any mechanical penalties for it (other than what you'd get from distinct style).
For all we know, this one-armed gunslinger could be so skilled at life with one arm that he can perform (most) two-armed tasks just as easily using only one arm.
>>
>>46333118
I didn't realise it was a revolver. Anon, one-armed bloke using a revolver would be dumb as fuck. Mexican reloading makes it acceptable, but he'd be better off using semi-auto pistols in case he DOES run out of rounds.
>>
>>46333196

That's dumb as fuck, anon. Even if rules don't technically say anything about it.

The slowest cerebral palsy with two arms is better off than a skilled as fuck one-handed ninjamaster.
>>
>>46333279
Yeah, but this one-armed guy is an adept: he's using the power of qui to one-handed juggle and reload his revolvers.
>>
>>46333196
Oh, no, I want to take massive penalties for doing two-handed actions with the single arm.
The system just doesn't actually have a quality for having no arm (similar to blindness) but I don't mind not having the extra karma.
In fact, I don't think it actually has rules for doing two-handed stuff with one arm, which is odd considering how common chopping your arm off for some chrome is.

>>46333225
I'll admit the revolver is a completely stylistic choice and yes, it would be objectively better for him to use something like an Ares Pred. V with an armslide for reloading, but people generally aren't reasonable, and his love of history coupled with his generally embittered view towards technology after living through two crashes (and already being experienced with revolvers) led him to stick with them when they aren't the best choice.
He doesn't trust a gun that has a computer in it, or could be hacked, or fail, or whatever, and prefers the simple reliable nature (yes, I know revolvers have just as many or more moving parts than automatics, but a lot of people don't) of revolvers to the newest fancy-schmancy automatic laser pistol with facebook integration.
>>
Can you not initiate at chargen? Where is this said?
>>
>>46333332
Are there rules for hacked/broken cyberlimbs? maybe use those, or something.
also, consider carrying more than 2 revolvers
I'd go with 6 or 7
>>
>>46333372

No, you can't. But I don't have the page number for you.
>>
>>46333372
Chummer, you are not the first person to ask that question, and you certainly won't be the last.
There are no rules specifically allowing or disallowing initiation during char-gen: it's entirely up to the DM (most let you initiate).
>>
I'm GMing a game. A PC asks an NPC a question. The PC is not intimidating nor is he trying to trick the NPC. Should I have him roll negotiation? I wish persuasion was a skill.
>>
>>46333332
>off by one

>>46333399
I might be able to do three or four if I put leftover karma into nuyen, so I could do a setup like
>One right side hip holster
>One left side armpit holster
>Two chest holsters
but after that, it might get a bit ridiculous, having 24 rounds of 10/-6AP before needing to reload seems a lot better than having 12, considering how long reloading will take for him.
>>
>>46333482
Is the NPC unwilling to answer?
If so, roll negotiation if the PC is trying to persuade, con if the PC is trying to trick the person into divulging the info.
>>
>>46333488

How much spare karma do you have? You could pick up Brand Loyalty for his revolvers, and get an extra +1, and get a -1 for all those newfangled computer-guns with facebook integration.
>>
>>46333528
The pastebin is linked here >>46332648

http://pastebin.com/KZGGVf19

I've got 3 karma left over, and I've already spent 5 karma on nuyen (for an extra 10k)
Dicepools I'm not super concerned with, since base I roll AGI 7 + Skill 6 + Spec 2 + Improve Ability 3 = 18 dice, and if I get an attribute boost in I roll 20 with the +2 to AGI. Combined with the fact I don't need to worry about recoil (because lolsingleshot) I'll probably hit most of the time.

Brand loyalty would make sense (in that the "brand loyalty" is to that specific type of revolver) as would Gear Attachment (but that doesn't work for multiple items, sadly)
>>
>>46333007
Run & Gun has those ammo sliders that reload weapons for you. If it works for dual wielders, it probably works for one-armed dudes.
>>
Idea:
Tired of the cops getting pissed at you for loading APDS?
Load the first one (or two if the mag is doublestack) with standard ammo, then once combat starts, just have your smartlink eject the first (or first two) round(s) from the magazine.
Every checkpoint/cop doesn't have the time or autism to unload every bullet and check it.
>>
>>46333685
Those are only for magazine based firearms, anon is using revolvers which complicates things.
>>
>>46333688
What kind of cop checks what kind of bullets you have in your gun?
>>
>>46333723

>>
>>46333916
Hm, I'm not sure about the reloading drone, but I like the idea of an old three-legged stray that he took in and takes care of in sort of a "You're just like me, we ought to stick together" way.

>>
>>46334077
I think in general he'd be pretty bitter (losing his arm in a car crash, then losing his entire lively hood in Crash 2.0, now he's trying to survive in a world moving too fast for him to keep up) but would have a soft spot for people he sees as similar to him.
>>

Mechanically, a dozen military jets will do it - or enough ramming attacks. Lasers and railguns.

But, he has a lot of bound spirits and edge. He'll have divination running all the time, and he's tough and smart.

I'd say a tactical nuke, or a Thor Shot or two - and honestly, with his spirit backup, he might be capable of surviving several.

If you were playing with broken things, he'd just use the Slow spell... but you could counter with Bloodzilla.

For fuck's sake. That was only in the German edition, as far as I knew.

Aspected Mana Static, as the name suggests works like regular Mana Static - in that it fucks over mages - but boosts your magic by as much as it decreases theirs.

It's a spell that probably shouldn't have been printed.

Then again, the entire street legends series was a dumb idea, when we could have been getting High Magic instead.

I don't have the spell to hand, but I think it would - they'd need to stay within the AoE though.

But a big enough infestation - probably seeded in the most remote locations you can find, and built up over years - might actually be enough... but then the entire world would unite against it.

If you're bringing insect/horror apocalypses into the game, you've got a lot more problems than just Lofwyr.

Haha - it gets better, it has a really interesting approach to magic where everyone is a mystic adept, and as you gain karma - your personal Legend - you tie it to new abilities that become part of your metaphysical story, or use it to attune magic items/unlock the legends of existing items.

One of those oddball settings that is still pretty neat despite lots of imitators.

5e or 4e?

5e, you want the core rulebook (duh), Run Faster, and Run & Gun at minimum, since they're all useful for everyone. RF has a bunch of character creation options and quirks to flesh out characters more, while R&G has a shitload of guns, armor, and other fun stuff. The only thing you may want to do is limit the metavariants and outright ban metasapients (unless you're fine with nagas, pixies, and centaurs as characters) from run and gun.

Data Trails, Rigger 5.0, Chrome Flesh, and Street Grimoire give more options to deckers, riggers, augmentation users, and magic users respectively. They're nice, but not required, and none break the game.

Then you have a bunch of smaller supplementary books that add a bit of crunch, which you can probably look at if someone's really interested in a character archetype they fit. Otherwise feel free to ignore them.

I am a GM and I can use some help.

I have decided to create a few unarmed melee weapons for a player. Most of the unarmed weapons in the game suck. And I think the reason for that is because unarmed is a "wide but short" skill. Meaning that it is useful in a long of instances but not great in any of them.

Think of your SIN as apple/google pay on steroids.

Basically anytime you do a transaction or get online your SIN is getting checked.

Most things won't trigger an alert though because your stuffer shack generally doesn't run an extensive background check when you buy a Nuke-It Brand Burrito.

It's like a simple check to see if you have sufficient funds in your back account.
>>
>>46339798
Adding to this, if you have a physical cred-stick and you slot it at the actual location, you probably won't be SIN checked for most things.
>>
>>46339876
Yeah, I think of physical cred stick as cash. And transfering money through the matrix is like your debit card.
>>
>>46339562

Yes actually but it's not like you are just telling people your entire identity.

You are constantly broadcasting the public part of your SIN which is probably some public key.

The Stuffer Shack that you just bought a Soycaf from has a subscription to the Big 10s version of a credit reporting company. When you bring your soycaf to the register it scans the RFID on the cup and your commlink deducts 5 nuyen from your account.

At the same time the Stuffer Shack host knows that the last 3 times you came it you bought some Nicozoom brand Caffeine + Nicotene study aids (because sometimes you gotta stake out the target) so it says that you can buy a 5pak for 25% off today.

You walk outside and check your commlink logs onto ARESnet (because your SIN has an entitlement to use ARESnet) and your AR overlay brings up the local Urban Brawl playoff scores because ARESnet shows that you spend an average of 25 minutes a day watching Urban Brawl highlights. It also has a reciprocal relationship with Horizon so you also log-in to your Social Media profile on Horizon and it shows that you have 3 messages and 25 likes of some link you put up about a show you went to at Club Penumbra last night.

You commlink is handling hundreds of these types of transactions per hour. Most of the time you don't even have to take direct action because your Commlink is filtering out most of the Advertising Spam with your copy of AdBlock2075.

Having a False SIN is pretty much the same thing it's just that you are transmitting fake info about who you really are. 99% of the transactions are probably the equivalent of a Rating 0 SIN reader don't bother checking because the systems assume that you are legit (or they are programmed to not look too deeply).

It's only when you do bigger transactions, or go places you shouldn't, or have a security officer running a deeper check that your Fake SIN is going to be checked Hopefully you have a Fake SIN 4 + all the necessary licenses at Rating 4.
>>
>>46340156
>Hopefully you have a Fake SIN 4 + all the necessary licenses at Rating 4.
Why is rating 4 the gold standard on SINs?
>>
>>46339876
>>46340100

Certified Cred Sticks are basically pre-paid Visa Check Cards and shit like that.

SINless and people who want to stay off the grid generally get paid with loading nuyen on a Credstick which they then use to buy goods and services. Hell some people even pay their rent using credsticks. They also use the Public Grid or they load up their Metalink with a month of pre-paid access to a decent grid.

In these cases you still get spammed with shit because even SINless are consumers but the hosts are assigning a temporary value based upon your Commlink's Grid ID.

You also probably get spammed with a bunch more shit because using the public grid probably comes with a default EULA that bypasses your spam filter.
>>
>>46340264
Best you can get at charecter creation.
>>
>>46340264

Rating 4 equipment is more or less high level security devices which is better or equal to everything but Corp Zero Zones security systems.

The Cop Squad Car probably has a Rating 2 SIN check terminal.

The Front Desk of a Corporate High-Rise is probably linked to a Rating 3 system.

The Security Systems at a Corporate Research Park are probably Rating 4.

Basically you want to have a Fake SIN that is at least Rating 4 as your primary SIN and a couple of burner fake SIN 2s.
>>
>>46340264
The availability of a fake SIN is 3*rating. Max availability at chargen is 12. It is the best you can do at the start of the game without dipping into Restricted Gear.

People will give you different advice for how many of which kind of SINs to maintain, but I like having a Rating 4 as my primary SIN, a Rating 3 as my SIN for criminal work, and a Rating 2 as my "gotta skip town on no notice" SIN. At the very least, you should have a high-rating SIN that you don't touch with criminal activity (beyond what would be expected for the SIN. It's not weird for a grey hat hacker who gets paid to do pen tests on corporate security systems to have a suite of hacked or home-made hacking programs so long as they have the license to use them) and a SIN you exclusively use on the job.
>>
>>46340958

The other thing is that even rating 4 SINs are extremely pricey and you typically have to load most of your fake licenses on there as well so that adds to the cost.

For Samurai and Deckers and Riggers you probably have the resources necessary to buy a decent Fake SIN but you also have to keep in mind that spending 10-15k on a SIN means that you often are going without on some other part of your build.

Awakened are almost always dirt poor and typically burning 10 karma to get 20k worth of gear and a single rating 4 SIN basically nukes your budget.

So really you have infiltrator and face types that are constantly having to deal with security types during the planning phase that need multiple SINs and even then they are going to want to keep their expensive SINs more or less clean because burning a SIN or two can eat through your budget fast unless you have a Monty Haul GM
>>
>>46340264
Generally Characters get rating 4 fakes at chargen (rating 12F, max you can go without getting black market connection or restricted gear), and fakes generally spiral into over budget territory at rating 5 or 6. If you have the means and the connections to get a rating 6 SIN (you are not getting rating 6 SIN's on the cheap from a new source, right chummer?) by all means go ahead and pick it up for yourself and your friends

Just make sure
1. You log SOME activity on all your fakes, a totally blank SIN is suspicious no matter what the rating
2. You have at least 1 rating 1 or 2 backup for casing your target / as a spare throwaway
3. Don't have more than 1 SIN slotted into your commlink at once, it would invoke scrutiny from a cop / guard for them to see 5 ID's that all look like you when they scan your commlink
4. Generally a contact (fake ID maker/ fixer) can get you some fakes for under the going rate cleanly, or get the local organized gang to get you some (generally they consort less with cops than the independent garage forgers)
5. NEVER ask Mr. Johnson for a fake SIN, that's just asking to be tracked by whoever he works for as long as you use the SIN
>>
>>46340390
>Rating 4 equipment is more or less high level security devices which is better or equal to everything but Corp Zero Zones security systems.

Looking at device ratings for that? I wouldn't - those ratings are for gear that doesn't otherwise include a rating in the item entry.

Average lifestyle of a neighbourhood can roughly translate into the fake SIN rating you can feel safe-ish relying on. (Street=1, Luxury=7) Z-zones usually sit on 0, which means you only have to worry about the fuckers who live there.

Nope, security is cool and all but who the fuck is going to want to deal with a full biometric scanner check just to get into their apartment each day.

Basically unless you are living at High or Luxury most apartment complexes are going to be reliant on the type of scanners present at Rating 3.

It's basically the following:

Do you have a valid SIN? Yes
Do you have an apartment in this building? Yes
Do you have access to this floor? Yes
Is this your apartment? Yes
Is your rent paid? Yes

Basically your commlink is verifying that with the building security system. Because you don't want some street punk stealing your shit you probably have to put your thumb on the screen when you go to the front door as a verification of your identity vs the thumb print on record with your SIN.

Yadda, yadda. The doorman at a nice building is probably got an AR imagelink on his glasses which is showing him a your photo ID and some basic information as you enter the building.

Facial recognition software is probably verifying your identity as you wait for the elevator, etc.

All easily doable at SIN 3
>>
>>46341458
The contact who helps you track said faggot is a prematurely balding, energetic Caucasian man in a bright blue suit and loud tie, known by the street name 'Rockapella'.
>>
>>46341341

He's doing head canon obviously.

Street is SINless, Squatter is probably SINless as well.

Hell even SINless can probably maintain a low lifestyle they just gotta pay for everything in certified credsticks which gets because you are probably working the shadow economy and aren't getting paid in Nuyen.

Medium is probably where you even begin to have reliable security on housing. Low and Squatter likely depends on paying the local gang or syndicate protection money so that they don't break in and steal all your shit everytime you leave the house.

>>46341601

>>
>>46341120
Another good reason to keep your pricey SIN crime-free is that, despite the fact that Shadowrun is a game about professional criminals, the majority of your time is going to spent doing perfectly legal if not entirely socially acceptable stuff. Asking around about a gun-show vendor, running matrix searches, talking people up at a bar, and taking secret pictures of people in public places aren't illegal. Some of those things make people uncomfortable, but none of them involve breaking the law. Sometimes you have to go into an airport for reasons other than smuggling. Sometimes there is a perfectly good reason for Matrix security contractor Masaru Toujou to be in a highly-classified corporate research lab. Did Toujou make a big show of doing a shitty botnet hack against that lab last night and then hack the head of security's commlink to make him the go-to security audit guy? Absolutely. Is Toujou just casing the lab so he and his friends can do a run on it with fake SINS? You know it. But at that moment, Rating 4 fake SIN Masaru Toujou has a perfectly legal reason to be at that lab, and it kind of behooves the guy for that fake SIN to hold up to scrutiny.
>>
I like starting out pretty street level.

Local Property Management company just got bought out by a A corp and this corp wants to improve profits by increasing rents at underperforming assets like a local Apartment complex that mainly caters to Low lifestyle renters.

If the Middle Manager in charge of this property can get out all the poor residents (many of whom are orks) he can earn a nice bonus. He's been able to get out some of the residents using legitimate tactics but some of the residents are working together to form a renters association to complain about shit like no trash pick-up for weeks on end and it's looking like his bonus is going down the tubes, or he might even be fired.

So he "contracts" with a local gang through a Company Man at his job and this gang has been harassing the residents. Extortion, etc trying to get the residents to vacate. It has been working for the most part but the last few hold-outs get in touch with a Fixer that one of them know and offer a job to get rid of the gang.

Mr Johnson is one of the renters and he wants the gang chased off and evidence of who hired them.

This can basically turn into a 3 session mini-arc.

Session 1- Find out about the gang and deal with the lieutenant and the gangers harassing the residents

Session 2- Gang escalates and the PCs have to deal with the gang on their home turf. Find out that corporation is involved.

Session 3- Run on property management company to find out who is the "bad guy" and maybe get evidence to a local pirate trideo channel. Fight with security guards, etc, Matrix run to uncover evidence, etc.

Manager get fired, residents get to stay in the apartment complex, etc.

Honestly depends on how many runs that you can make in a given month. I typically assume 1 per week.

If you can average 5k-6k nuyen a week you are paying for your lifestyle in week 1, paying for consumables (reagents, street doc bills, ammo, bribes) in week 2, week 3 is upgrades week, and week 4 is saving for retirement.

Assuming that each run is netting you about 6-7 karma that works out to be a decent return.

Stealing cars isn't as profitable as you would imagine because running a chop shop requires a syndicates resources (or at least a large gang). These guys don't want competition so you can't just show up with an americar and expect a big cash infusion.

If you have a syndicate contact you can probably steal cars as part of your "day job" but it's basically on commission so you are probably earning 5k a week boosting cars but let's be honest it's a easy job so you really aren't earning karma.

But it's a nice secondary gig if you don't want to run a fast paced game. Basically assume that you have 1 large job a month (that gets paid about 5k a week but takes 2 weeks to finish so 10k) and the rest of the time you are fucking around boosting cars, selling shitty paydata to data brokers, setting up magical wards, etc.

Makes for a slower paced game with less karma advancement but still plenty of nuyen for getting shit done,

That's not jacking one, that's purchasing one. Stealing an Ares Roadmaster entails a struggle with whoever the hell owns the thing.
>>
>>46342571
Doing infiltration and combat mainly. I didn't feel like playing an adept again but also adept is really the only thing I like to play.

My shadowrun campaign is going to basically be set in casino zone.
I am not sure how to do this tastefully.
>>
>>46342593
No, that doesn't make me a liability

The Renraku SIN does
>>
>>46342610

>Nick a roadmaster
>likely has 8-10 HTR guys inside of it
>kill the HTR team and then drive it to a chop shop and hope that the Mafia guys don't kill you.

Yes you can spend all day stealing jackrabbits but that's what you did before you became a runner and even then you were paid for shit and lived in a shitty apartment and ate shitty food.

It's not like car thieves or repo men make a fuck ton of money in real life because for the most part you aren't just stealing every honda you see.

Gearing up to run my second session of a story set in Miami. It's pretty cool, to get around RWB I just use the classic "it's the future so ..." to fluff my total lack of knowledge on how Miami looks.
>>
>>46342593
>>46342660
To be fair, if you aren't going 'ware or magic you can just go A attributes A Skills C metatype and play a 7 edge super-competent dude.
>>
>>46342585
You're thinking of the CityMaster. RoadMasters are armoured vans, CityMasters are ARMED armoured vans.
>>
>>46342731
I did that, exept I did B skills.
>>
>>46342725

Miami is kinda fun, I typically assume that in 2050-2075 it's not completely underwater and it's basically a mix of Scarface + Black Lagoon + Burn Notice.

I also like using Havana because I can do the same thing.

Lots of Cartelbros
Some Vory for scary paramilitary shit
Some old school Mafia types
Rasta-orks using cigarette boats to smuggle shit
Lots of Celebs especially BTL porn stars
Ex- Cuban Military types
Spooks
Voodoo shit

Shit's crazy
>>
>>46334295
Alas, but with the fall of the FRG and the rise of the AGS, the mighty Luftwaffe is no more. you might try next door with the Red Air Force or the Armee de l'Air, who have, you know, full sized nations funding them.
>>
>>46342742

Yeah, Roadmasters are still specialty vehicles.

City/Mobmasters are the up armored APC variants that look like the APC in Aliens. Many of which are going to be in the possession of a squad of Knight Errant or Docwagon personnel.

And even if you steal one you gotta disable all the transponders before driving it back to the chop shop or else KE will kick down the doors and shoot your ass for stealing Ares property.
>>
>>46342843
I've got a big Cuban gang running here, along with a load of Greeks and the "local" gang who are basically a west side story gang for the shigs.
This session I'm bringing in the whole celeb factor, with temptation to bring back my old Keanu Reeves the immortal, and bringing up a lot of the ol' fun that is corruption in politics.

For world setting currently Miami is a freehold within Florida, after Florida left to become a member of the Caribbean League. Miami Beach itself is the HQ of a shit tonne of the high up organised crime, while in the more barrens/sprawl areas we've got the Vory moving in after the demise of the old Russian gang.

Fun times in Miami, really.
>>
>>46339669
Or the mostly black fungus found near old world distilleries. It lives on tree trunks and eats airborne alcohol.
>>
>>46343065
fungus is really goddamn fast at developing into terraforming devices.
Take note, shadowrun runners- MUSHROOMS. The face of nature retaking industry.
>>
>>46342843
The good news is that it isn't completely underwater because magic (all by itself) is cooling the poles and keeping the water locked up in ice. In Shadowrun the Arctic and Antarctic are as cool as they were before the 1700s.
>>
>>46342983

Yeah sounds fun.

I typically assume Miami is a freehold as well with the AAAs being moderately hands off as long as nuyen flows.

Government is moderately corrupt with lots of factions at play.

Lone Star has the Police Services Contract
Knight Errant handles a ton of local security
Evo does a lot of Biomedical shit and tends to run most of the hospitals
Neonet runs the local grid
Horizon is big into the local entertainment scene with lots of smaller studios located in Miami
Aztechnology handles a lot of local business but also runs the local prison system

Mob runs a lot of clubs and small hotels
Cartels dominate drug trade but rely on redneck bker gangs and rastaorks to do the transport and distribution
Vory is involved in prostitution and human trafficking

Yaks and Triads are present but tend to be mainly present at MCT and Wuxing compounds.

I'd probably do a Wilson Fisk type kingpin character if I really developed Miami
>>
>>46343255
That sounds pretty damn cool.

I've got Horizon working the mass consumed media too, a big part being the news (thought they're not above a bribe to alter it all)

The local gang do a lot of gun and drug running, with a lot of shipments coming in from Cuba/the rest of the Caribbean and from CAS (mainly the rest of Florida and what was Louisiana.

Having just finished Daredevil S2 having a Wilson Fisk type as a potential employer-come-foe would make for some pretty nice story and game.

Going to reask agian.

Is drone spam more viable in 5E then it was with 4E?
>>
>>46343459

You have to spam the same drones with the same loadouts and it works due to autosofts being on the RCC

But you get a shit ton of things throwing decent dice for cheap

I think, anyway
>>
>>46342540
You're forgetting the nuyen penalties for stolen, damaged, involved-in-crime, etc etc, as well as the situational game changer that is established car thieves and chop shops realising you're muscling in on their meagre profits and getting law enforcement to crack down on them.

No matter how good you are, they can throw more cheap punks worth automatics your way, and there is a quantifiable number of bullets to stop any PC dodging.
>>
>>46343433

Yeah, if I was running a 2075 game I'd probably have Horizon working with a media-savvy AI ala Max Headroom.

Hell I'd even put something like that into a 2050 era game with Headroom being a psuedo AI / matrix ghost that is protecting a resonance pool present in a massive Horizon datafarm.

Horizon would probably run the biggest Media outlet in Miami kinda like the Tribune in Chicago with Trideo/Sports/Music/Simsense, etc.
>>
Is it just me, or should campaigns turn street level for a few sessions when PCs go into hiding?
>>
Speaking of downtime activities, would it be feasible to be a freelance thief? You'd have to know a fence, and probably a fixer if someone wants something specific stolen, but you could pocket all the credsticks you find.
>>
>>46343718
Sounds like a good way to attract extra heat on your ass, and also bore rest of the guys in a group to death.
>>
>>46344306

Well of course my character would only go do side jobs if the run went cleanly and there is no need to go underground. And people are already used to the group being split since eveybody runs around on their own doing legwork phase.
>>
>>46344385
The extra heat would be from the side jobs, not from runs themselves.
>>
How much should a clinic offer on a service where they will pay you if you place a RFID on any recently dead body?

I'm coming up with some ideas for things players can do to accumulate more cash at the expense of possibly leaving a trail other than just stealing things mid-run. Also, ideas towards this end are appreciated.
>>
>>46345305
look around for outstanding bounties and the such.
If youre raiding an Ares compound, look for someone who wants recording of Ares security getting its ass handed to it. If youre stealing a cutting edge prototype, see if someone else wants the inventor or any of his staff dead. Always, always look for someone who wants the exact same (task) job done, and charge them while doing the same heist.
All of these would likely increase notoriety, too. but hey, pay!

Ares Roadmasters are commercially sold to civillians

Is there such a thing as group-hacking?
>>
>>46334367
Considering his plan:
1) Ends up destroying the world due to insufficient testing if you let him go through with it
2) Involves unnecessary collateral damage for no reason
3) Actually can be perfected if you let APEX work out the kinks
I'd say he's a villain alright. He's in the same vein as the Master from Fallout. A dude who might've had a point if his plan wasn't so poorly thought out and involved so many unnecessarily cruel steps.
>>
>>46334451
Fuck that noise. I set APEX free and handed over Feuerschwinge to it. Turns out that shit saved the Flux State when the corps came knocking, is implied to have taken out Dunkelzahn, and checked dragon power across the world.

Because seriously, fuck dragons.
>>
>>46334690
Nah, man. You just need to watch all the DVDs and read the computers in Harfeld. At that point you can use his dead brother and his oversights when it comes to safety to convince him his plan might be flawed. Which it actually is.
>>
>>46346797
Non-canon
>>
>>46346797
>Because seriously, fuck dragons.

Wrong way around, omae. Dragons fuck you.
>>
>>46346924
Of course it is. Still doesn't change the fact that it seems to end up being a pretty goddamn good decision in that non-canon universe. The corps get rekt, dragons get fucked, and the Flux State gets a power that is on par with one of the Big Ten without the corporate bullshit that comes with it.
>>
/srg/ I have a problem.
How do you make your eyes glow without also blinding yourself because of how eyes work?

Ware. You'd be surprised how easy it is to do shit like that when you don't have to worry about such pesky things as biology.

Tell that to the three dragons that ended up geeked as a direct result of my actions. Even Lofwyr was impressed.
