You are a pack of kolbolds, banished from the mountain clans you lived in for crimes unknown to yourself. As you cast a hateful eye behind you, your pack walks on for what seems like years and years. You stop at what seems to be a highly dense forest, desiding that you can walk on now longer. With meager rations, you deside what you do next.

Deciding that food is a good idea, Kr'tok takes action and sends out hunter-scouters to see what there is. What they find is that the jungle is filled with all kinds of flora and fauna, however, the hills where they came from seems to be completely barren. They take some of the plant life that looks least likely to be poisoned and takes it back to camp.

Not huts, lets make our homes in the trees, we are small, we would be safer above ground-level. Also find some clean water

>>

Since the first scouting went rather well, Kr'tok sends out Raun again with 2 others to find an active source of fresh water. After about a day of searching, they find a size-able river, about 8 feet wide, and tell the others were it is located.
With no tools, the best weapons you can find are some fallen braches.

Kr'tok and Raun lead the rest of pack to the waters edge, gathering and drinking water. Other than the odd croc floating harmlessly down the river, there is nothing dangerous on the river. However, the pack starts to look mildly sick for drinking water straight from the river

With a basics of food and water, Kr'tok sees progression is needed in other areas. He sends the pack out looking for sharp rocks and stone, and starts you try them around pieces of branches. With the food supplies deminishing and the new stone spears, the pack starts to see the river in a new light, and begins to start fishing. One even had the bright idea to sig out side pools for the fish to swin in, for easier prey. I mean raw fish is better than no fish.
With the new mateirials, tools, and hope set inside the Kolbolds hearts, rudimentory huts are made, in the low hanging braches of the trees.

One member of the pack become particularly seduced by the flames, and touches it. However, instead of burning them, it starts to surround their hand, moving where they wills it.

With the settlement production going at full speed, small traps are made out of sharpened sticks and the most bendy branches, able to at least injure would-be attackers of the tree liveing kolbold pack.
Kr'tok, seeing the useage of the bendy branches for traps, gets an idea, and threads some plants life together, ties either end to the branches, creates a bow! He even makes some missiles for the device.

After hearing of the crocs, the youngest of the Kolbolds gets an idea of taming them. Everyone disagrees with him, but he goes of anyway, desperate to prove them wrong. He never comes back.
To react to this, a hunting party is made to harvest the crocs. They lead some away from the lair and kill them. Some attempt to make Armour out of the hides, and while they lack any protection, they look awesome with the croc heads mounted on them.

and maybe we could make traps to capture animals for food!

Would you like someone to roll for you?

Yeah that's what its seems like. I'm using overchan so I might just actually get on

I wont roll, since I'm CM, so can someone else do it?

Gup produces a new spell, when before he could only control flame on his body, he can now blast it in a direction from is body, from his mouth or hands!
While people don't like the idea of dividing such a small community, they like the name for their new-found Fire affinity

Can we create a fake settlement? Like some huts on the jungle floor to throw off any potential attackers?

I can totally roll now that I'm off of a stupid app

Rolled 4 (1d100)

Our numbers are growing! We should figure out how to build better housing.
We should also send a scout or two to keep eyes on the lizardmen.
>>

What is that 4 for? building or scouting?

Damn, you have my luck now

Seeing the progress Gup has made, more people are coming to him for training. Gup the Flame-spitter, as they are now calling him, he created a more uniform version of the Breathing of All Life, making easier to train in.
With the lizard men still on the Packs mind, a decoy camp is made, riddled with traps.
Two Scouts are sent out, they do not come back.

Increase technology, specifically in methods of teaching ; create written language and a way to teach young ones about lore and magic before they begin the breathing
>>
Rolled 31 (1d100)

>>46319622
At the rate we are dying, maybe we could come up with pretty pictures to make the young ones remember our ancient stories of our dragon ancestors.

Can I throw my vote in for this?

If not then lets start training some of the stronger clan members into a militia of sorts.
>>
A written language is made, but it is VERY rudimentary, and can't convey something as important as The Breathing
Right now, art work is rather shoddy, and the children aren't interessed.
The stronger looking Kolbolds are handed Stone Spears. There is no training.

Since we're starting to have a large population we need to start diversifying into a class system, putting our strongest and most magical at the top, and giving roles to each unit to make our society more efficient

With the settlement getting larger, Classes are made. Right now there is the Populace Class, of the Working Kolbold. Then there is the Drake Class, which right now is Kr'tok, Raun and Gup
Training goes slowly, but one in obviously more skilled than the others, but can't seem to train very well. It seems like, "you just do it" is bad advice

Name the Skilled Militia

Through the trees, screeches are heard. No-one knows what this means.

We should also improve housing technology! Learn how to make rope bridges to connect huts. It should also improve our defences because we won't need to climb down so often.

The Drake Class start to have a meeting to plan agaist this schreeching, before screams are heard. The burst outside to see the Lizard men, mounted on what seems to be large monkeys, killing the populace. A larger monkey holds a huge sword is a lizard man with a large scar across his eye, seeming to be the leader. Blackscale is seen fighting off the Lizardmen before a bold of lightning strikes him, coming from the scared Lizard.
He shouts,
>This camp now belongs to Thunder-Stride and his Clan!

What does the camp do?

The Drake class get together to demolish the lightning weilder, seeing it as a refined form of their own magic.

As soon as Gup sees this, his cloak swirling, he steps into the fray, rears his head, and spits fire out to all of the Monkey-mounted lizards, Turning most of them into a crisp. Thunder-Stride is supprised, and lifts his hand for another Lightning bolt, but out of nowhere, Raun leaps out and stabs him in the back of his shoulder with a Spear. Kr'tok, not proficient in combat, rallies the troops, and after seeing most of the invading forces wiped out all ready, shout a battle cry, charge in, and destroy the remaining warband
Thunder-stride sees this, snarls, and turns into a spray of sparks and shoots off into the sky.

The combat subsides

So uh, this is a cool thread. And I'll be looking in tomorrow to see it continue. But uh, I can I suggest that there be less instant rolling? 'Cause that really seems unnecessarily messy.
