The flavor text on this card references a heron, which is the only flight of angels that haven't gone crazy, and moon, which guessing by the name of the next set holds quite a bit of significance. No idea about the shrew though. Thoughts?
>>
the shadow over innistrad is the five legged shrew, the legs are gisela, bruna, avancyn, nahiri, and emrakul

the innistradi moon is said to have a heron in it. The prophet is decrying this.

The moon also is made of silver which has the ability to trap evil within it.
>>
>>46312287
There's some sort of Horror in the moon. I doubt it's Eldrazi, since they've been hinting at some Horror tribal next set.

There's probably some ancient weird thing from Innistrad that's been trapped in there forever.
>>
>>46312381

That looks less like a heron and more like a Sliver to me. Anyone else see that?
>>
>>46312381
>>46312990
Kind of. The shape also looks really similar to the Cryptoliths
>>
>>46312891
Since there's a lot of speculation about what's behind the madness, and there are clues hinting at each, which of these three would you rather have be the eldritch monstrosity: Emrakul, Marit Lage, or something new and unique to innistrad?

This of course excluding the possibility that it's Nahiri or Tibalt or something.
>>
>>46313225
Of those? I'd most expect something new. I doubt they'd bring back Marit Lage, but it migth be Marit Lage's cousin.

Some sort of ancient Horror that's been trapped inside something and has a lot of tentacles. They might tie it together with Marit Lage somehow, but I doubt it.

Eldrazi seems way off base. That would mean they'd be repeating mechanics from the previous set, and have to add in Eldrazi rather than the Horrors they've been hinting at.

Even Phyrexians seem more likely than Eldrazi at this point.
>>
>>46312376
its where nahiri managed to seal another Eldrazi which is even bigger and badder than the other fuck the power creep

Well, Avacyn outright killed her when she first appeared and unified the angels. I suspect she's not coming back.

The thing is, though reanimation magic exists, it is not something you actually want to use from the storytelling perspective. Because then you can bring anything back from the dead and that's fucking weak.
>>
If it's Slivers I'm cumming buckets.
>>
>>46313784
In M14 they made slivers humanoid, and it was pretty much universally hated, so they started to shift them back in M15, like Sliver Hive and Sliver Hivelord. If slivers show up again, they'll probably be back to their original design.

Those are Cryptoliths, and they're explicitly what Nahiri has been doing.
>>
>>46313896
I get what you're saying and I agree with the basic principle of what you're saying, but in this case reanimation is usually going to make them rotting shells of their former self. It doesn't cheapen death if it's not really them.

I'm with this Anon, it's probably some new horror. They had Emurakul fuck off so they can bring back the Eldrazi again. We also know, thanks to Ugin, killing the physical forms of Eldrazi does fuck all and just pisses them off. There will probably be another set later on where Emrakul returns, possibly with new titans.

I like how in this set we see stuff that resembles so many different groups. It goes great with the investigation theme. Everyone wants to figure out what's causing the madness.

I doubt it's phyrexia, they're direct and open about what they're doing. Emrakul left, so she's gonna be saved for later, Marit lage is on another plane as far as I know, so what is there left that's already known?

The plane started with a few drops of oil.
By the time the first new phyrexians came about there was literal tons of the stuff.

Almost all life on Mirridon was partially metal, because almost all life on Mirrodin had Mycosynth colonies growing in it.
Mycosynth was also present is enormous quantities in Mirrodin's core.
And Phyrexian Oil was one of the two main components of Mycosynth.

... I think Blinkmoth Serum was also implied to contain Phyrexian Oil? Not sure on that.

A few demons, especially the Oni, also seem able to travel between planes, something angels also can not do, to my knowledge.

Speaking of Writhengar: where the fuck is he? Was it ever mentioned that he was re-sealed or is he just running around Innistrad's backwoods, frolicking through the plane? If he still exists, why would Griselbrand's cultists seek out Ohrmendal instead of him?

Really? Ah, my bad for ignoring those characters after the horrors of The Quest for Karn.

Dammit Venser, teleporting your beating heart into the chest of Karn in no way makes sense for kickstarting his purification. Nothing even suggested you knew you were giving him your spark, and if it were that easy, Memna-

Nevermind.

Grizzie actually just dragged Avacyn with him as he was being sealed but he was pretty jacked as far as demons go.

Withengar got ganked by the angel squad that followed up on Saint Traft. It mentions his mana scattered so it's probably another demon at this point.

What makes me lean towards Lage rather than Emrakul is that a lot of the "Emrakul" clues (tentacles and weird mouths) can be more easily attributed to Lage than the Lage clues (aquatic features) can be attributed to Emrakul.

Lage is thematically tied with the ocean and with the eldritch in general, whereas Emrakul is only tied to one specific eldritch style and not at all to the ocean.

Can't explain all the Phi symbols, those are only tied to the Phyrexians in MtG canon. But then again, what we know as the new-Phyrexian aesthetic doesn't tie into a single other clue. It's possible it's another branch of Phyrexia than the Mirran one, but I'm not sure they'd have multiple versions of the same big bad like that, considering it kind of weakens the identity. Plus, there's never been enough eldritch elements in Phyrexia to demand a set name. Then again, Dragon's Maze was a thing.

tl;dr
The more I think about it the less that makes sense. I feel like any of the pre-established villains would break one of Wizards' rules, throwing the block mechanics off or creating redundancy in one of their villains.
>>
>>46315251
They're already taking it easy with the Wurmcoils and Obliterators.
They haven't busted the Blightsteel colossi out yet.
>>
>>46315595

Nah, if we do get an Egyptian plane we most likely get more graveyard mechanics.

Probably a Desert reprint as well. Pyramids is in the reserved list so we won't get that.
>>
>>46319787
It will have a graveyard theme but not full on. It might have flashback in it. Maybe even activated abilities on artifacts in the graveyard. Or creatures coming back.
>>
>>46319610

>>

> ear has become a mouth

Same with Incorrigible Youths and their various mutations.

Alongside the whole "Remember this: They came as three", and Emrakul being scheduled for the third BFZ set before the whole two-set block thing, I would be extremely suprised if it was not Emrakul.

This anon has a point. Old Phyrexia would make like an insidious infection. New Phyrexia, still fresh from the birthing pangs of Elesh Norn's domination, would have just jumped everyone.

It's something native to Innistrad. Besides, I'd rather not have another plane I like ruined forever by you ugly necrozombie loving cockfags.
>>
>>46319933
What if Emrakul AND Kozilek came back?

Emrakul is seen as a sky goddess, and so will most likely come from the moon.

Kozilek is seen as a trickster god. What Ob Nixilis summoned may just be a Copy of Kozilek. Kozilek may just have done a Bolas on Zendikar and noped the fuck out while making the copy do its dirty work, and dying in its stead. Kozilek could emerge from the ocean, but it would have made more sense if Ulamog did that since Ula is the sea god.
>>
>>46320221
Guys... What if the Yawgmoth that died is actually a copy, and the actual Yawgmoth is in the Eldritch Moon?

Delirium is not Threshold, it is a Threshold-like mechanic. There is a glaring difference to them.
Delirium has more similarity with the Tarmogoyf mechanic.
Threshold makes Delirium better, and would make better sense in a block where milling matters, which could be the hypothesized Egypt block.

>>46320018
No. That would mean Spell Mastery, Delirium, and Threshold would all be in the same Standard. That's three different things going on in both player's graveyards to keep track of.
>>
>>46312376
the fifth leg is Voldaren's lady-penis
>>
>>46320349
What they said is that didn't like Threshold for Innistrad.
>>
>>46319850
Well, considering she's a large black-mana entity that was buried in the same ice as a massive number of Phyrexian constructs and enchantments, it's quite possible that she's always been a Phyrexian entity. Like a mini-Yawgmoth. It does fill in the holes quite nicely, but it's also a tiny bit too fanfic-ish to sound plausible to me. Mind you, BFZ/OTG plot would have seemed more ridiculous to me if you'd asked me 2 years ago.
>>
>>46314474
Phew I was worried, thanks man
>>
>>46320374
Most noobs will just track one of the three mechanics anyways.

Keeping track of three graveyard mechanics is best left to the skilled.

Of course, they can just create another Threshold-like mechanic, or limit that in rares as unworded mechanic like in Goyf.

Or just reprint Goyf. That's what I'm getting at.
