You play h5. He plays h6. You play i5. He plays i6. You play i4. He plays i3 and captures 6 pieces. Or you don't, and he captures 3. I'm not very good at go yet, but he doesn't look like an idiot. If he hadn't placed there, you could have done so and joined up with h3.

Alright, maybe I'm the idiot. I spent the last hour brute forcing through every logical next move and none of them end with white capturing anything. I'm just a 25k newby scrub against a 16k anon. I could just not understand how this game works, people say that I'm screwed but I don't see it.

Right now the marked stones are going to die if white plays 1, so black's first instinct is to play there to gain some liberty. But the chain up through 6 results in the whole black group dying either way.
