It seems like there's just some people who can never stop talking about dreadlocks, and they want all of their characters and all of the villains to have dreadlocks.
Is it because they looks so distinct and fun? Or is it because dreadlocks are always near the top of the list of "Most Attractive Hairstyles"?
Is it some sort of anti-establishment political statement? Does this rampant dreadlocks worship actually stem from a desire for less bureaucracy?

Shitposting aside, and disregarding the fact that dreadlocks aren't even something people talk about, they're unique, exotic and visually interesting. They're also really easy to make traditions about (they only cut their dreds when they lose a fight, the dreds can't be cut until he finds a wife, the wizards have one dreadlock in each colour symbolising mastery of a magic school).

Dreadlocks made sense for the area they originated. by mixing mud and animal dung into your scalp you hid your scent, offered slight protection from the sun, and offered a more tantalizing treat for flies besides your flesh.

Dreadlocks will form on their own with ANY type of hair provided it is kept clean and dry. The more dirt and shit coating the har, the more slippery it is and it wont dread. Im about 6months in without combing my hair, or doing anything to it, rolling, product, etc. Its dready as.
