I recognize how shitty and edgy and grimdark they are, but I still find them a fun race and I enjoy playing them in games while being careful to avoid understandable overplayed terrible stereotypes.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck between Camp A, who think all drow are universally shitty and anyone who plays them is an edgelord playing a Drizzt ripoff, and Camp B, the abovementioned edgelord neckbeards who think drow are flawless. Between the two, actual discussions and/or attempting to play a drow is nigh impossible.
i like elves, i just hate how overdone the "their time is ending" trope has gone. its like every single setting elves are on their way out however slowly they can be. Tolkien elves were ok because most of them were never meant to be there in the first place.
