Does /tg/ let the gods decide their stats with a roll of the dice? Or do you take the bitch way and use the "standard set"?

In a bait thread this needless, it's not the die that roll.

Friend, did you think the t in /tg/ stood for DnD? Other tabletop systems and traditional games do exist.

My groupd play by point buy
79 points to spend
an class level cost 3 points
each stat point before modifier cost 1 point.

You must have at least 3 on a stat, before modifier.
you must have at least 1 on some class

PS: remember that having 3 on some stat cost, 3 and not 0
>>
Rolled stats is a relic of a stupid, arbitrary past. It was never a good idea, it isn't a good idea, and I'm glad that the vast majority of games are abandoning it.

Actually, I'll make one exception. Rolled stats is fine in comedy games where your stats don't mean anything anyway. Maid RPG is the only game which I know of that makes rolled stats add to the experience, rather than just being annoying.

We play DnD 5e

4d6 drop lowest, but if it ends up worse than the standard array then you can opt to use it. Rolls happen with witnesses because we always make characters together
>>
>>46219198
We roll, but we offer mercy should you roll horrendously.
>>
>>46219198
>implying there are people who don't use point buy or a semi-point buy system.
Huh? That's a thing?
>>
>>46219198
If a game has the option to roll for your stats then I use a stat array and prefer that over point buy.
>>
Point buy and standard array makes it too gamey. Games I run are always point buy.
I let players choose to reroll their stats after rolling a full array, but if they do they can't use the previous rolls.

3 stat point cost one level

Is this balanced?
>>
>>46219726
*always rolled

I'm gonna go home, I'm drunk
>>
>>46219726

>Too gamey

What does that even mean? You're against people being reliably competent?
>>
Rolled 3, 6, 1, 6, 2, 1, 1, 6, 5, 4, 6, 5, 6, 4, 1, 6, 3, 6, 1, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1 = 83 (24d6)

>>46219198
I trust the dice gods. Rolling 4d6 six times and dropping the lowest.
Witness me!
>>
>>46219765
I'm sorry for your loss.

Fucking chump.

Once I rolled four eighteens in a row, followed by a fifteen and an eleven. The gods were kind to that character.
>>
>>46219765
just play a half orc barbarian and bring the CHA to a nice 4
>>
>>46219198
I dislike rolling, simply because i never had a positive experience.

In the (awful) homebrew some of the group want to push on the rest every now and again you roll for 5 stats with 4d6 down the line for stats, no dropping. But you get to roll the array 15 ( fucking fifteen ) times.
This often times leaves you with lots of meh and a single great array, which never is anything you actually wanted to play as. At this point i simply don't know why they don't go stat array or point buy from the beginning.
>>
>>46219936
The only reason I like rolling is because a gypsy cursed my dice pouch with good luck.
>>
>>46219198
I do whatever the system requires me to do.
There usually is no choice.

>15, 9, 16, 14, 12, 6
Huh. Not a bad stat line. A martialist seems appropriate, barbarian-type maybe? 9 Int, 6 Cha is rough but not unusable. You could also go with 16, 9, 15, 12, 14, 6 for an interesting heavy armor fighter figure. Or 6, 15, 14, 16, 12, 9 for a wizgard who has completely shirked physicality (that'd be pretty fun to play actually).

A solid block, the dicegods like you, friendo.
