Last we left off, we had recently launched a joint expedition north alongside the elves against the orcish raiders, the expedition was a total success, with the orcs caught in an ambush and annihilated.

3 orcs were captured and interrogated, revealing the politics of a fractured by dangerous orcish residing to our north, that when united under a strong leader, could not only overpower our own settlement, but be a threat to all of civilization.

What shall we do with the prisoners?

The arcane laboratoy gives Camilla a place to practice and gain knowledge of her own magical skills, and can provide a place to train and house other mages in the future

Our orcish spies inform us that the orcs have formed a powerful warhost under a massive greenskin named Karn the undefeated

Karn is apparently knowledgeable in human warfare tactics from years of fighting against(and rumors of living in) the northern human realms.

Unfortunately he has decided to focus to the south, directly in the path of our settlement...

A river fort is constructed, with two strong watchtowers on either side of the river, in addition a massive chain was forged, taking several weeks to build and slung between the two towers, lying the rivers bottom, until pulled into position, allowing us to control passage and force any traffic to come under archers in our towers.

There is currently a baby boom in our settlement and several young human thralls have come of age

What should be their focus

Our warriors have developed superior infantry tactics,locking large shields together to protect them, while still allowing them to use their spear or sword. Excellent for defensive situations and holding enemy units in place, allowing them to get pounded by archers,magic and cavalry.

A few weeks later, the council(the players) are awoken in the middle of the night, for an arrival of a lone Elven ranger, delivering the warning that orcs are in the area, and that we should keep close to our settlement for safety.

The orc host numbers almost 100, and are led by a devious leader, knowledgeable in the ways of man.

How do we deal with the orcish host?

A. Harass the host with skirmishes and ambushes, but do not engaging them at full strength(Optional:Request Elven Assistance)

average of 76.3 a decent success(that 100 saved you guys from that terrible first roll)

The orcs are succesfully enticed by the smell of meat roasting on some of the campfires, and are drawn into camp. After 50 enter, our men reveal themselves, hemming the orcs in, and allowing archers to pick them off. The orcs are slain to the last, but we lost a dozen men in the process, with the elven rangers losing 3 themselves, forced into melee against orcs outside the killzone.

Unfortunately Karn the undefeated arrived at the scene with the rest of his host and immediately engaged our army.

Our men are able to reform, into a battered but steady battle-line

The battle ends inconclusively with, both sides clashing for several hours, the orcs hitting the shieldwall multiple times before being repulsed completely, Karn falling back with a handful of orcs in tow.

Unfortunately the losses were high, with another dozen dead, and 6 men badly wounded.

But for now the threat of the orc horde has passed.
