Being cast out of your homeland by your kin for crimes is a terrible thing, more so for a Dwarf than any other race. Their inner strength and grand works are about how well a clan of Dwarves works together to craft works of great strength and artistic vision. But now, for their horrid crimes against their people an entire dwarven house, a once noble family stripped of it’s title and most of it’s wealth are now cast out into the world where dangers and monsters forever threaten them.

A: House Blackrock: Accused of the Crime of Treason and banished to never return under the pain of Death.
Bonuses: General Iroh Blackrock, leader of the Clan and once General of the army. Bonus on Strategy and Battle Roles.

B: House Bluefang: Convicted of the Crimes of Devil Worship and banished only if they can create a great work for the Dwarven Gods.
Bonuses: Captain Ignan: A Leader of Dwarven Scouting parties to the Underdark and to the Lands around. Bonus to Scouting and Exploration

C: House Ironhoof: Convicted of Allying with Orcs during times of War. Only to return after a crusade against a minimum of Two Orcish Kings of note.
Bonuses: Beast Master Durn: Ally of Orcish Clans as well as Master of Cavalry. Bonus to Relocation and Settlement Speed

House Ironhoof is a clan that, through it's history has long been the leading Cavalry and Herders of most of the clan's holdings. Much of it's wealth was seized by the greedy houses that were against them and accused them of the act of allying with the Orcs. Now where shall they be sent, and how shall they bring a new kingdom about or seek to go on Crusades against Orcish Kings.

Captain Ignan with his family, most of them simple Dwarven Craftsmen, Farmers, and guards from the house were suited for simple travel with most of their most expensive items being weapons they brought with them or the animals they rode and bred through the ages. Rams and Boars which could carry a heavily laden dwarven cavalry line into even the deepest of Goblin or Elven Lines with ease. But now, since they have left the homeland of the dwarves and went many kingdoms away in relative solitude they must decide where they desire to make their new home.

A: Seek the Orc Fang Mountains, perhaps if the Dwarves make a home there they can destroy Orcish Kings or make allies with other creatures there.

B: Seek a home in the plains and valleys of the Human Kingdom of Arvan, a young kingdom by dwarven standards that may benefit both parties from a Dwarven House making their home there.

C: Take to the Dragon Coast: Creating a fishing home where they can be a port of their own power to increase funds and perhaps sell their wares easier.

D:The Deep Home: Ancient Dwarven Ruins accessible through an old cave system in the mountains to the Underdark. Where a kingdom once stood but now is abandoned after a defeat which has been stricken from the records.

I'll start with these then!

"Captain, we've found a few suitable areas in the Orc Fang Mountains. Scouts from a few years back but most of it shouldn't have changed." One of the scouts reports, most of the dwarves setting up large tents where the families have been set about.

A: Option One: A Valley of mostly Stone with a small river running through it. Reports of Orcs passing through are common.

B: A Set of Natural Caves that can be reworked into an actual complex with work, though we would have to clear out whatever lives inside first.

C: Creating a large Fort or Keep would be a large amount of work on the side of the mountain on a cliff, but more defendable than most other dwellings.

D: Work on a mostly Wooden Fortress in the forest until a more suitable location can be found.

Setting up a camp in the foot hills of the mountain for the non-combatants, mostly the elderly and the children was not difficult with the hills being rather well for the grazing animals due to the abundance of grass.

Captain Ignan, the head of the household due to most of the former noble scions being killed in the last war and him being named as successor from his humble beginnings as a Stable Dwarf smoked one of his fungus cigars looking at the map of the region.

He was not the best tactician, he was a good warrior on Ram back and good at leading a cavalry charge in tunnels, mountain sides, and open plains in caves he was not the best and most of the cavalry would not be able to function well in that situation. He just had to decide how many warriors he wanted to bring with him...
Total Population: 200 Dwarves
Combatants: 75 Warriors 20 Cavalry (Ram) 5 Dwarven Scouts

A: Bring all the warriors, leave the Cavalry here to defend the non-combatants.
B: Bring everyone, better to bring your full force and hope nothing will attack the craftsmen.
C: Bring 50 Warriors, leave the Cavaliers and the Scouts and 20 warriors.
D: Write in.

D. 50 warriors like C but also bring 2 scouts.

B: Bring everyone, better to bring your full force and hope nothing will attack the craftsmen.

>go to caves
>kill giant spiders
>come back to forest
>orcs killed all your people

Alright just to keep things running how we'll do it is most popular options. To do the rolls for Combat and such we'll have each sort of 'party' roll along with the Captain roll and such.

So:
2d20, best of Three for each of the them. As it's rolled and what is encountered will be typed up.
>>
Rolled 19, 7 = 26 (2d20)

>>45842057
>>
Rolled 12, 9 = 21 (2d20)

So 19 and 20. Whelp.

Hiking up the mountain's trial to the caves reveals an odd sight as the Dwarves take cover beside a cliff face watching as two tribes of goblins do battle, seemingly streaming out of each cave slaughtering and wounding one another with gleeful abandon in the small dale in front of the cave complex.

Taking full advantage of the melee the Dwarves charge forward, the first going in being the Captain who leveled his spear to his enemy's heads. All these Dwarven Soldiers were used to fighting goblins, orcs, and the occasional Giant.

The melee ended quickly, the dwarven charge like their most common weapon chopping through every goblin throat along with their two meager idiotic chiefs which fell to axe blows from Ignan as they were engaged between each other.

Exploring the caves with the warriors were simple as well, Bringing out a small trove of ill gotten treasures by the goblins, old trinkets and baubles stolen from graves and adventurers who died on the mountain sides to Orcish tribes.

The Caves are clear now! And suitable for habitation after the goblin stick is scrubbed out.

---
A: Set up very simple housing, fortifying the individual caves into houses.
B: Set up deeper tunnels, carving out room like apartments as it goes down and connecting every cave.
C: Set up a large fort in front of the caves, using it as temporary housing as the caves are tended and worked.

Damn a hivemind going on.
-------
The fort is constructed by felled trees, most of the dwarves are unhappy to live in a large barracks style room as the miners poke around the caves inspecting them for a while as the Captain, one of the few that receive a single bedroom. Looking at his map of the region curious of what to do next.

A: Focus on setting up a proper mine, trying to set up a profitable mine and to dig deeper into the earth.
B: Make the small dale the dwarves live in nicer, carving statues and making the area just more suitable for the standards of proper dwarves!
C: Scout the mountains, seeking dangers or potential allies.
D: Work on making the caves into a proper dwarven hold by smoothing the stones and installing doors.

"I want the miners and stone mason workin' on makin' doors for the tunnels. I don't want to have our folk goin' into something and some beasties tryin' to sneak in without us knowing or making it too easy for us." Ignan said and nodded to the younger dwarven squire who scampered off. His beard barely grown in and from what Ignan knew wanted to be a soldier, unlike his father and mother who were both craftsmen. An honorable trait in such a young dwarves.

The work is overseen by one of the more experienced masons and some of the wood workers who make rather crude but well made wooden gate for the main cavern big enough for most of the dwarves to get into.

The smoothing goes decently well as well, the stone being reinforced while a few tunnels and caves were collapsed by a few of the teams to make sure things were safe and then covered up by the boulders and such from the other areas of the mountain to look like a proper wall again.

A: Work on turning some of the smaller caves into Mineshafts to see if anything can be found.
B: Send scouts in the area around to see if anything needs taken care of.
C: Begin to turn the largest cave into a proper dwelling carved out and with apartments for the dwarven families so they can start to live with their families properly.

Just read through, Dragon Coast might've been interesting, especially if there was a chance of making the port town on a cliff face. That've been badass.
