I like this alot. perhaps we don't even bother attacking planets, just appear at the edge of a system, throw spores at each world then leave again. The defenders scratch their heads in confusion at first, and then a few years later a hundred genestealer cults pop up.

Can hive fleets hibernate? It sounds like that would be the kind of thing this fleet would dom seed a few worlds or systems, shut down for a bit and wait for the genestealers/lictors to prepare the way for a few decades/centuries.
