Your character has returned to town after successfuly completing his task. You have 1 week to lay off, what do you do?

Hard mode: Your character is a female

Impossible Mode: Your character cannot do anything related to his class/level up
>>
Impossible Mode.
Lets go to the bank and try and exchange all these Gold Coins for Copper. You don't expect anything that'll warrant Gold Coins anytime soon.
>>
>>45563225

She would read. Whenever not wearing her plate, my current character reads, anything from scientific essays to fables.
>>
>>45563225
Hard and Impossible

Actually spend some time getting to know people around town. After all, I've had my eye on the smiths apprentice for a while now and I need to know if I have competition.
>>
Well, one of my characters is a female, anyway. So for Normal and Hard mode, everyone trains and relaxes. For impossible mode, she's also an alcoholic, so the answer is Week Long Bender.
>>
>>45563348
What if the Blacksmith's apprentice turns out to be dull as a hammer after only 2 turn of an hourglass?
>>
>>45563225
My character is a reigning Princess, so, check up how well her wife and their councilors are running the kingdom. Talk over options for the Royal Consort so they can produce an heir. Then back to the wars for another few months.
>>
Kill myself.
>>
>>45563527
Well, then he's only good for some banging
>>
He would hang out in bars in the posh side of town & socialise with the rich people
>>
>>45563639
You do him on the anvil for good measure?
>>
>>45563225
Is going shopping for nice clothes and new boots which our fighter ruined by gutting the Goblins i was holding in a full nelson to interogate too girly?
>>
>>45563225
Hard + Impossible Mode:
She hits up the brothel for some boy-whores.
>>
>>45563527
>>45563639
>>45563688
hmmmmm... Well I did say get to know people. I may be a paladin, but virtue was never really my thing, and it's hardly against my religion to show someone a good time.

Find someone interesting, romance them like the ears of an elf (bonus points if it's an elf) and kidnap them to keep my bedroll warm on lonely nights!

(no, it's not ERP, but I'm not having all 3 years of a campaign be a dry spell)
>>
>>45563225
Automatically hard mode, since my character is a female. Impossible Mode because it's not that impossible. My Human Alchemist/Cleric would mostly just hang out and waste money with the Kobold Cavalier.
>>
>>45563813
>Hire a female npc as a bed warmer
How much do you think that would cost?
>>
>>45563225
Prospect business opportunities or get in good with nobility/powerful persons.
>>
>>45563225
Does the place have a brothel? Does it have a tavern or equally established "designated place to get shitfaced"?

If yes to either of these my character goes full kegger mode
>>
>>45563858
About as much as some good rope, their daily meals and whatever gifts you buy them to keep the relationship going.
>>
>>45563883
You can invest in a new vineyard, a high class brothel or a small museum.

Female Paladin, mid level. First couple hours if the basic clean/organize equipment. I am a professional, after all. After that, bathe and grab a hot meal, then spend the night relaxing.

Next day, after prayers, take any damaged gear that I can't fix myself to get the needed work done. Then, with no pressing tasks, wander the marketplace, maybe pick up a few things. Touch base with friends, maybe get an outing to that expensive tavern planned. Attend a street concert, tip bard/minstrel generously. Head back to whichever Inn I'm staying at. Maybe with company, maybe not. Though a companion for the night(s) would be nice.

Repeat throughout the week. Just some light post-action R&R before donning armor and heading back into whatever fray is calling.
>>
>>45563924
Hm, if I have a lot of rare stuff from my adventureres, a small musem might be feasible. A high class brothel will be a bad idea with any lawful stupid guys around. A vineyard might be a good idea, but it's a very long-term investment. Better something else like beer.
>>
>>45563225
She would probably just hang out with her party. She isn't very sociable. Would ask to go dancing though, as she has recently discovered she is good at it
>>
>>45563981
The owner is willing to pay you in platinum bars and smaller pieces of his collection

what do you guys him and what do you look for?
>>
>>45563225
Based on an actual character I'm currently playing:
probably some barroom brawls and general unruly hedonism. When not doing that, she'd most likely spend time at the local library, or otherwise trying to enhance her general learning.

She's a magus, so I guess that the latter could be class-related, but she is a huge nerd who gets excited at the mere mention of books, so... I dunno.

My character compiles and collect orcish folklore. He does this as a hobby anyway. He's writing the orcish equivalent of Grimm's Fairytales.
>>
>>45564119
Anything that is rare or/and has an interesting backstory/application? Anything that can be traced back to the stories, myths and religion of the land in which the musem resides? Anything that people have never seen before and might be willing to pay to see?

Play the NPCs and try to show the PC a nice, comfy town with people from all walks of life and chances to inspire the next generation of heroes, or look for romance, or pick up a cute keepsake, reflect on their non-divine PC's spiritual side, etc.

>>
>>45566058
It's a shame i have crushing self esteem issues and depression

i'm writing a very basic novel about a teenager wizard who saves the world from something or other, i'd rather focus on his travels with his motley crew of wierd characters

nothing to set your world on fire but i'd rather start small
>>
>>45566193
stay away from harry potter cliches, and now that discworld author is dead, adventuring with motley crew and weird characters has just opened up in the market
>>
>>45566237
My main character has a pregnant girlfriend who also happens to be the head arch wizards daughter

how cringy?
>>
>>45566277
Pretty cringy, but it could work if you write the pregnancy like Wheel of Time
>>
>>45566311
what makes it cringy tho?
>>
>>45566356
it's a teenager with a preggo, what do you think
>>
>>45563225
>Hard mode: Your character is a female

How's that hard? How does that make a difference? Is /tg/ full of virginbeards who think girls just sit around knitting or flower arranging?
>>
>>45566389
i forgot to mention i wanted to make him way older at first

the teenager part was to appeal to a wider audience
>>45566436
Yes.
>>
>>45566446
Love in fantasy is in general very cringy when its explicit, so try to avoid this and you'll be fine. In retrospect, wheel of time was a bad example, because it has some really cringy stuff in it.
>>
>>45565936
Ponder what the PC would want to do, consider their background and just check out the town, see if anything sudden;y feels natural for that PC to do.

>>45566193
I'd love to see something like that, the epic quest falling into the background of what the heroes do on the way, what makes them real people and connects them to the rest of the world.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cw7aAFS5oc
>>
>>45566495
Thanks for the input, i'll revise my concept.

The idea was to give the guy some bad memories of leaving a child and wife behind while fleeing a threat
>>

I hope to god they are of the same race? Not even james cameron could pull something like that off if they weren't, even avatar had them wearing "avatars"

OP: these skywalks are so freakin' comfy, do any like these exist IRL?
>>
>>45566593
>>45566539
>>45566495
On the other hand, if you write like GRRM you can do keep all the interracial rape and love you could ever imagine.
>>
>>45566593
of course

Interracial romance in fantasy is the worst.
>>45566605
Some modern skyscrapers in canada have em. it's a good place to break i find.
>>
>>45566629
Nah, Game of thrones is basicly Fifty shades of grey for neckbeards at this point.
>>
>>45566655
Then I would strongly advice you to read whatever passages on love, pregnancy and such you can find from Tolkien's works. I believe you will find it is not explicit at all, and actually makes it seem very fulfilling and important to the characters:
'"Estel, Estel!" she cried, and with that even as he took her hand and kissed it, he fell into sleep. Then a great beauty was revealed in him, so that all who after came there looked on him in wonder; for they saw that the grace of his youth, and the valour of his manhood, and the wisdom and majesty of his age were blended together. And long there he lay, an image of the splendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.

>>
>>45567089
everyone has a thing for poetic writing. Discworlds did the same shit even though those novels had a COMPLETELY different tone. Your english not being the first language is hard to overcome, but you write it in your mothertongue first, and then try to translate it while focusing on keeping the flow of the sentences the same

>Hard Mode, Female
Find my old fiance, the cute but stringy blacksmiths son and ruthlessly flirt with him now that he's married the bakers slightly pudgy, red headed daughter. Call her a fat cow within hearing distance. Joke with him about what could have been and then give a pitty fuck to my bumbling wizard adventuring companion within range of him.

Basically try and sour his marriage. Sure, I was the hero of legend, the faggot should have come with me on my legendary quest when it was time, he'd be a real man now, or heroically dead instead of some peasant. Instead he pussied out and got hitched with the silver medal.
>>

>>
>>45563225
He would wander around the town helping out however he could. He'd tell stories to anyone who wanted to hear them, pass out sweets to children, etc. Basically he'd continue being everyone's favorite grandfather.
>>
>>45567190
That scene still makes me cry a little. I fucking long for the day when someone RPs a cleric that's out of healing spells, and the dying fighter says:" I didn't think it would end this way..."

Go to wherever the most banging tunes are being played and either nod appreciatively while in society or partying hard with a tankard of waiver requiring booze. Depends on the town and what parties he can get into. Preferably waking up the next day with a pretty thing in his bed but the absence is fine too. Whoever says that paladins had to be chaste gets a cockslap from a dragonborn paladin.

Considering few people can party a whole week, a fair chunk of time is spent just relaxing and sleeping. After pulling night watches and lumpy sleeping bags you want to appreciate the luxury of almost certainly not being ambushed and a bed that's warm and soft.
And the last third is spent either praying and meditating at the local shrine/temple for guidance and introspection, and practising drawing local architecture. Because everyone needs a hobby.
Hard mode? Same thing dammit.
Impossible mode? Less praying, more napping.

I'm not sure I understand. As a DM one of the things I do is have the players tell me what their characters do during 'down' time.

What do they do for 'fun'
What do they do as a hobby, or typical activity
What sort of personal goals might they be trying to advance.

So I guess I would take a longer look at the above. Rather than covering just one item, I'd talk about them doing several things and a few related things.

Well I'm in two campaigns and in both I'm a "noble". The human would most likely spend his time off in high society doing noble things like plotting to kill his father so he becomes patriarch of his family and pressuring this other noble family into a political marriage to try and solidify his place as the next king.

The other being a teifling that was kind of kicked out of his family after his mother died would be doing the exact opposite. Hiding a few cities away with 3 of his servants that stayed loyal to him and come with him. Most likely just drinking and having a good time. Spreading word of his deeds so he could reclaim his nobility by his own hand.

Hard mode... Exact same but swap genders...?

Feel you man. I feel like I am the only one keeping the group together.

Story Party Idea

Young Human Noblewoman, Heiress to a large share of a a Trade Company, is journeying to the headquaters of her family in a land across the sea, since she is the only heir to an estate her uncle left her.
Is the party's Sorceress.

Young Elven Lady Retainer, bodyguard and confidant of the noblewoman, is well versed in various skills. Is on the journey to keep her mistress safe.
Is the party's Rogue.

Middle Aged Human Mercenary, actually royality but decided the life of following an ascetic martial tradition was better than his hedonistic youth. Was paid on as an extra hand with promise of more payment at destination.
Is the party's fighter.

Hard:
Sorceress is entertained at the local court and tries to learn more about the region. Rogue follows suit.

Impossible:
Fighter divines intestines to crows and dogs. Mediates for the layover week.

I sell the adventuring loot and check on the beer I'm brewing then i stop in at the confectioner and get a tart visiting with the owners daughter a close friend of my character, then i head over to the orphanage and help my menor with the kids i know the youngest well want to hear of my adventures so i have a story prepped and a trinket made from the beast i slew. Then its off to the market district to visit my half sister and help out at her shop getting to know her has been such a joy, I update her on my quest to find our whore of a father. then its off to help the old witch that i trade herbs with just little things around the home prepare a meal, clean the hearth, talk over tea I brought some cakes form the confectioners. Next i stop in at my favorite watering hole see how the innkeeper is doing after the incident with her brother i off load an early batch of beer on her for free to help us both out, being a hot adventuring witch lady is my job brewing fine beers is my passion. next i stop by the temple and offer thanks for my safe travels and pray fro many returns and help the lame abbot with whatever needs done. then i drop in on the mayor update her on the goblin problem. finally i break into my companion's house while hes out to diner and take a bath in his deluxe bathroom, not my fault he has the nicest bath in town. I leave fresh bread before I leave he barley eats right always vivesecting and studying. lasty i stop by my apprentices place see how shes doing offer help with her craft if she needs it if not we talk and catch up then i head down to the quay if i still have time and watch the ships come in and go out think about which ones I'd like to own some day. I draw sea birds and stop by the fishmonger for livers and gallbladders for my beers. repeat as necessary for the week if its truly down time I love all the towns named npc's really if I'm gearing up for an adventure I make potions and scrolls when I can.

>Hard mode: Your character is a female
>Impossible Mode: Your character cannot do anything related to his class/level up
What she usually does already meets both criteria.
Human Ninja Assassin - She grabs her Shamisen, gets dressed in her finest silks and tracks down a few of the local performers to hold an impromptu concert.

That sounds amazing.

I get back to work.

I've got a trade company to run, with a fleet of six ships and over two hundred people under my employ.

I am making some headway into getting a minor seat on the Merchants Council, and all the while attempting to wrestle control of the dockyard labour force via a wonderful idea I like to call 'unionising'.

At this point I go adventuring on the weekends to relax.

Just how big or small is this town? Local hamlet, nearly a city, something in between?

I had that happen.

It was a siege and my battle cleric was supporting the wounded as the only healer left when the injured Paladin came back from holding the breached wall long enough for a few reinforcments to arrive.

Out of spells, my heal check was too minimal to prevent the mortal wounds. The paladin told me that I had helped the wounded, gave me his sword and made me promise to help the living.

And that's when my cleric went off to fight the undead horde at the breach, with a holy avenger equipped.

You could say that. The idea was to raise the city's spirit after a dragon attack.

The main dish was dragon barbecue, courtesy of a batallion of entusiastic butchers.

I spent about 80.000 gold. It was a city with 100.000 people after all, and part of it was to pay for the damage.

It ran out of booze, we drank all of it. Grandmas in bed clothes swore like rum-starved sailors, the mage paid for all clients for his brothel, a bard noblewoman sang to all, I even got laid and drank even the 'devil's drink': vodka tempered with red pepper and fermented pig blood.

You sound like a pretty swell guy, Anon.

Yes and no. The BBEG got stronger if people felt hopeless, so it also worked as a way to give the party an advantage against it.

I personally believe people can have multiple valid reasons to do something.

Lay low, read a book, go fishing, shit like that.

Ah, one of THOSE kinds of bad guys. Well, sucks for him that his plans to gain power can be thwarted with drinking, feasting, and boning.

And I laughed myself silly at that pic.

You know, if I were the Elves, I would've just killed the dwarves as soon as they showed up and started acting like fuckers. I would just not put up with any shit from any dwarves.

That's why dwarves act like fuckers, because people tolerate and enable their behavior.

I head back into the village covered with the blood of slayede Orc scum who thought they could best me in combat, I look for the nearest tavern and harrass the young bar boy and pinch him on the ass, I do it till he's near the point of crying before I force him into a rented room. When we are alone I make him realize how much of my bitch he is, I force him to perform a cantation in my clit. This is no doubt overwhelming for him because I haven't washed off the sweat and blood from this days battles so my musk is overwhelming to him. I then grab my dragon dildo and line it up to him and make him feel like a woman. Afterward we cuddle (he's the little spoon). The next day I smack him on the ass and tell him to have a good day and I will see him in the evening. All in all a typical day for Hildred the Barbarian

You're like a trump supporter.

I can't tell how much of what you say is supposed to be a joke

And how much you actually believe.

Hard Mode: (S)he begins to improve her weapon by paying the local blacksmith to use the shop.

Impossible Mode: They go to the bar and drinks to forget how forgettable and unpopular (s)he is despite how much they try to be memorable, and plot ways to make themselves known far and wide should the adventures fall apart.
>>
>>45563225

Impossible Mode: Annoy the warrior. Sure, she probably wants to get back to the forge, but what fun is that when we could be discussing what lovely eyes and mighty sinews she has?

And if she thinks I'd get bored of it in a week or be discouraged by a hammer flung at my head, then she is sorely mistaken.

That's actually very neat, anon.

I wish there really was such a book. It'd probably be a great read, and a way to imagine what orc culture would be like.

He would spend his time at home cooking soup, and taking it to the poorer districts of town to feed starving families. He'd also offer his services as a healer to any sick people, accepting donations but not asking for a fee.

When not doing that he'd write, practice his martial arts, and paint more masks to wear.
And stare at cute girls and never ask them out.

I'd probably spend most of my time trying to decipher my patron's gift, a black book in indiscernible script.
Studying anatomy charts, surgical procedures and the humors. And trying to find a way to fix my improperly my fucked leg.

Boring I know.

>Your character has returned to town after successfuly completing his task. You have 1 week to lay off, what do you do?
Get bullied by the rest of the party for a week

>Hard mode: Your character is a female
He might as well be already

>Impossible Mode: Your character cannot do anything related to his class/level up
See above

It's weebshit so probably ERP.

Part one: SPREADSHEETS, supply buying, cheesing healing herb market fluctuations, milking the peasantry for all they're worth, cheesing social rules.
Ryutuama is all about travel so this part is incredibly important. If your tent's in bad shape it can easily ruin everyone's day.

Part two: Cute tavern conversation while hoping the dice don't fuck you in the ass with drinking checks.

It's a very homey kind of game. Kinda think a Bethesda-style walking simulator crossed with Rune Quest and Spice & Wolf.
>>45595929
No, we don't do that.

I seek out (or found, if necessary) the local underground rap battle scene and combine Perform (beatbox) with Gather Information and Perform (poetry) checks to learn local rumors and legends, all the while immortalizing whatever half-fucked dungeon crawl we just got done with.
