Alright guys, lets role up a heretic cult!

If it's a 7 our cultural background is drug cartel. Drug of choice is Weapons grade LSD.

>10 - elaborate rites (role twice)
>1 - Mass devotion
The most common form of cult ritual is a gathering of the cultists for a shared devotion. For some, this

may be more akin to a business meeting than a religious ritual, as the defining element of mass devotions is a gathering focused on the cultists’ shared purpose. Such gatherings may have the cultists or their leaders remain masked and hidden from each other, or they may reveal their affiliation brazenly.

we should decide the cults name fellas

i suggest devious neckbeards of the forgotten warp
>>
>>45504433
Wait, where is this cult? Hive world? Fortress? Dead?
>>
>>45504508
Desperate underclass implies a hive world, plenty of suffering peasants in the lower hive.
>>
>>45504501
>of the forgotten warp
I like this part, at least. Warlocks? Brothers? Children?
>>
>>45504608
Given the council-based nature of the cult, Brothers of the Forgotten Warp sounds good.
>>
>>45504636
ya agreed
>>
>>45504636
Alright, so there's a kabal of daemonic entities fucking around in the lower part of the Hiveworld.

What do these guy's do?
>>
>>45504659
Revolution!
>>
>>45504659
>>45504433
Okay,
So it's an underhive cult who's leadership is completely unknown to the cultists, they only know their decisions. Whenever a group of cultists meet for devotions they do so masked. Their deity speaks through a cultist at these meetings, blessing them with a mutation as they do so. It promises a better life free from the imperiums tyranny, so long as they follow the plan...
>>
>>45504671
Violent bloody revolution! Che-type communists using daemonic powers
>>
>>45504680
Whenever they meet, they are instructed in elaborate rituals to bring forth artifacts from the warp, they are also instructed in how to call upon "allies" when the revolution begins.
>>
>>45504659
they sit around together wearing tinfoil hats so imperium psykers cant read their minds while they speak of the injustices of the imperium and their desire to install a communist state on their hiveworld
>>
>>45504739
>>45504693
>>
>>45504732
Which style 'communist' are they? Personally, Russia has been done to death in 40k, Id think it'd be cool for something more exotic
>>
>>45504860
seven members from the working class are selected each month to rule as a council

this council can pass new objectives and make decisions, however, whatever decisions they make fall to a vote from a 100 man assembly which is elected from the general cult populace
>>
>>45504860
As >>45504693 said, possibly Cuban revolutionary-type commies? I'm not sure how much that's been done.
>>
>>45504891
It says the cult leader(s) is daemonic, so I think there needs to be jewish tabernacle system going on, where men are selected for the group who speaks to the commoners of the cult, but to talk to the higher ups, they go through the men who organize it all, who go through special selected members of a special kabal who make sure they are on track with the chaos plan, who interact with a small group that presents their diety's will, who has one selected to talk directly with the God, who dies every couple of weeks

or something else convuluted and dumb

>>45504897
I say go for it, I like this

>>45504897>>45504891
>>45504860
>>45504680
>>45504671
So...

These could be the Tzeentchian gang in Hua Yuan
>>
>>45504339
>>45504355
Well, it doesn't have to be mutations

Maybe they twist their faces to lose their identity, going back to the whole collective/communist thing

>Brother Mathis, today is the day of my rite, today is the day I get to see our great leader
>Right yes, well maybe. Possibly.
> ...
>Truth be told probably not.
>What do you mean I have gone to the mass every week for the last year, I have been blessed with this plumage to show to our revered one.
>Yes and lovely plumage it is truly, but none of us have actually seen our leader.

>Never laid eyes on him, no one has.
>Alright, so how do we know who is running this.

>What an excellent question. You know what for asking such excellent questions you get to be our new historian. Here is everything we have from the last historian.
>Wow that's a lot of notebooks, there has to be an answer in here som-. All it says is "There are no answers." on every page.
>Except for the last one, that one is covered in his brains. Never did figure out if he killed himself or if he figured it out and the realization literally blew his mind but hey, maybe you'll get the answer to that question too.

Not to be a dick, but you can take the concept if you want (Whatever concept that is), but, like, this is for making a cult, so, like, I think we should focus on. Personally, I like South/meso American communist thing more than the East Asian Communist culture, but that's just me
>>
>>45505111
I'm cool with the face thing. Members kidnap those in important positions, replacing them with surgically disguised spies and saboteurs.
>>
>>45505604
Oooh! That's a good idea. If we stick with the communist thing, that works for a Red Scare analog.
>>
>>45505589
Hua Yuan isn't necessarily asian, the idea was it was a massive hive with a neon atmosphere, like hong kong. Culturally it's whatever you like.

Our deity is generous, we have Dakka from the warp. Would you be interested in hearing more about this dakka at our next meeting?
>>
>>45505589
That's just like your opinion man. Besides Hua Yuan is at its core a giant hive city amongst a world full of giant hive cities.

These guys can be totally without a real life cultural analog, but invokes communist fears native to the Era that inspired the Exterminators in the first place.

It all lines up, why not have them in Hua Yuan?
>>
>>45505649
Fuck yeah, communism ftw.

Depends humie

Does youz got any good orky Gork or Mork dakka?

Or jus weirdboy dakka?

Because this isn't a thread about Hu Yuan. Take em, use em, that's perfectly okay. But I think these guys should get fleshed out, and, like, that should come first
>>
>>45505762
We are unsure of their origin, perhaps you can inspect them at the meeting, this helpful pamphlet explains how to get there and the wonderful benefits of joining.
>>
How big is this cult? How active are they? Are they secretive and plotting the Big One or doing a ton of small attacks?
>>
>>45505878
>how big
I'm going to say medium and growing. It sounds like they're trying to start a revolution, and Emperor knows they're an assload of lower-tier civs looking to indulge themselves

>Active
Probably small attacks coupled with larger plot and espionage to take over/collapse from within, with attacks growing the weaker the government is
>>
>>45505912
Not that the small attacks are probably anonymous and far spread, and political in nature
>>
I dont know why but I can only think of the passione gang while reading this
>>
>>45505810
Gud, da Stormboyz wuz lookin fur a cult

I hope yer dakka is as better'n ourz, we ant got enough
>>
>>45505912
In terms of modus operandi, most attacks use multiple cells working in unison, but the cells themselves don't realise this.

One cell knows it has to build a bomb and dump it in an alley way, another knows it has to move a pile of junk to a government vehicle. Another has to hijack a vehicle and drive it to a government facility and dump it there, another has to plant a small charge on a van at the tax office, another just has to set a detonator to a certain frequency and hit the button while near a certain intersection.
>>
>>45506056
That's good, works with the whole near needless levels of middlemen, and not ever knowning who youre working for outside of vagueness and "chaos"

>What if they believe they're just taking orders from someone up the chain?
The cult was supposidly started by a kabal of daemons, so I'm assuming they're taking orders from whoever the diety is. I guess you could say that the vast majority of people in a leadership position are just taking orders

I kinda like it, goes back to the whole complete economic/social equality

>>
>>45506056
Great stuff, very modular, can't really trace it back directly to anyone one group
>>
>>45507407
If their biggest boon is otherworldly fabrics, maybe they intend to sway the masses with mind altering clothing, maybe a head/armband that emits low level psychic suggestion to become activated to allow a planet-wide mass possession of the lower peoples?
>>
>>45508193
That would explain the special material. I imagine it twists and contorts in very void-like ways
