Does this mean BL has a new series to milk to oblivion?
>>
Not really milk, they've already set the last book in the series. There will be 12 total.

It's described as GW's "big event" of the year, and the story isn't that bad desu. A lot of interesting High Lords of Terra scheming and politicking. Which I at least have always wanted to see.
>>
>>44907760
Sorta. It's a fixed twelve novels though. One a month.
Also Imperial Fists got wiped out, they're gonna be replaced by the Fists Exemplar.
>>
Yes. And that's fine with me. At least their not raping important established fluff or ruining beloved mysterious characters.
>>
>>44907760
No, like the anons said, fixed amount of books. Hell, maybe we'll get a 30K compatible beast model/army. I'm liking the scary outer-orks so far.
Also as far as new 40k series go, I'm waiting on a nice AdMech v Tau book to go with the Damocles campaign.
>>
>>44910427
Imperial Fists got wiped out? What the fuck happened? Does this have to do with them losing that whole company to 5 Daemons in that Ultramarines movie?
>>
>>44913664
They were fighting some warp beasts on a planet, when the Beast's WAAAGH descended on the planet the entire chapter was stationed on, and wiped them out.
>>
>>44914373
They are not warp creatures. The chromes are bugs that live in sub-space.

When the Orks tunneled through sub-space, they disturbed their hives and forced them to escape in real space.

>>
Lol gw wouldn't canonically end the Imperial Fists. They released like two codicies for them.
>>
>>44914476
Just pirate it.
>>
>>44914506
They aren't being canon-ended. In 32K the chapter got fucked, and the successors/Imperium at large were worried about the morale blow of losing such a highly vaunted force, so covertly just renamed the chapter Fists Exemplar to the Imperial Fists.

I'm kinda bored of the usual Marines

I wish i'd be hired by GW to write - even if it's 1 book
>>
>>44919283
The second book is almost entirely "Life of the Imperium." You know how it's being reviewed?

It's being called "Full of filler. No one cares about hive world A and forge world B!"

So no, Life in the Imperium is not what people want.
>>
>>44919354
Oh for fucks sake, there goes my pitch to GeeDubs
I can imagine the top 2 things people want are:
>Setting Progression
>Marines doing Marine-y things
>>
>>44913664
There's one survivor
My bet is that the Imperium will name him Chapter Master and give him a successor chapter that takes on all the Fist's assets and heraldry.
Since Phalanx didn't go into battle, and theoretically all the Fists' relics are save on board, wouldn't assimilating a successor and its relics be a win as far as wargear goes?
>>
>>44919414
Maximus Thane is actually a listed Imperial Fists chapter master from the book Space Marine, which is the strongest evidence for the Fists Exemplar taking over as the new Imperial Fists.
>>
>>44919821

Doesnt the IF keep an honor guard aboard the Phalanx? I have a hard time seeing all but 1 dying.
>>
>>44922725
They said they sent everybody. That the walls of Terra were unguarded and the Halls of Phalanx empty
>>
>>44922725
And aren't they generally a fairly spread out chapter, with plenty of recruiting worlds and the ability to quickly return all their chapter assets to Terra should it ever be attacked?

I'd rather they just gather all the Imperial Fist novitiates that are obviously going to be half-trained or newly recruited on various worlds and start molding them into a chapter again with whatever is left of the higher command.

The Imperial Fists are the worst chapter to wipe out and replace, even though the idea is pretty shitty in the first place. Why not the Iron Hands, who refused to leave Medusa undefended during the 13th Black Crusade? Or the White Scars, who would have to defend Chogris? Or the Blood Angels - hell, they practically have already done it before.
>>
>>44922853
BL doesn't think, they write
>>
>>44922873
They should just stick with short stories. You can't mess up with a short story unless you're Goto.
>>
The one legion that fulfilled its job résumé to the tee and this is how BL rewards them. Fantastic. I dont even see why they are camping the Imperial Walls at this point. Dorn lent a pair of hands to stop the first black crusade so this whole "peace is the imperiums greatest threat" shit shouldn't have even stuck.

>>
>>44924920

So have they forgotten Inwit exists?

>>44924943
The Crimson Fists tried this. Turns out just because you're a chapter serf doesn't mean your kids will be good quality for astartes. In fact it led to even worse quality applicants.

Worst thing BL has done as of late.
>>
Why is BL so cruel to Dorn and his children? What has Dorn ever done to them?
>>
>>44926243
It's a 2nd founding successor. They're exactly the same except they happen to follow the codex, where the Imperial Fists did not. Also they come from a high radiation world, so that probably explains where the lost astartes implants went.

>>
>>44926496

>>44926518
There was a time when a space hulk nearly destroyed the entire chapter. To this day I say it was genestealers, Orks, and Bezerkers living together in peace and harmony until the Blood Angels accidentally boarded the Hulk for the search of loot.

This is the problem with just using 'hurr durr grimdark' for everything. Instead of new ideas being set up and introduced to fans in a way that let's them warm up to such things, they're just shit out with no warning, rhyme, or reason, then immediately obliterated because TEH DRAMAZ

This is the exact same shit that they did with the Raven Guard chapter master; after all the years of going unknown, they finally gave him a name and a bit of personality, then abruptly murdered him in the tau update and made Shrike the CM because IZ DIZ NOT TEH DRAMAZ?!!?!

This has been BL's growing attitude since the HH series started. Throw in a half-baked idea that might be good given time and development, then immediately put it through the wringer to FOR GRIMDARKNESS. Except nowadays there's no reason to get attached to anything that's getting bulldozed because it's just happening so fucking fast that it doesn't even matter.

You know who it really should have been? The Ultramarines.

Memery aside, they literally have an entire chapter who does absolutely everything they can to be just like the Ultramarines, and help replace their losses in battle. And that's not taking into account all the other successors who usually keep within a pretty common culture.

You could also make the Dark Angels work - I don't know if they've had entire sections of their chapter replaced, but they had the Angels of Vengeance take over as Master of the Ravenwing once - but I don't see their loss being quite the morale issue.

Except that the books already do. The Fists, the original Imperial Fists chapter, never submitted to the codex and never had flawed geneseed. Their successor did and in having their successor become the Imperial Fists, they transition from their 30k to their 40k representation.
>>
>>44929161
But that was what the Iron Cage was supposed to be all about.

Now Dorn threw his Legion into a deathtrap for literally no good reason.
>>
>>44929188
Keep in mind that splitting the legion is not the same as following the codex. The Iron Cage was for splitting the legion. But following the codex, having 10 companies of 100 battle brothers with support staff, using pre-defined insignia and titles, that is following the codex, and that is something the Imperial Fists never did.

yeah i understand all that. thats why i said if they could play it right they could save the fists. this is very new and unfinished fluff though so its still possible its just a ruse and the fists didnt really get replaced wholly

the only thing i can think of is if the real fists go form a different chapter because of their reduced numbers and then let the cuck fists take over in their stead (to save face/not let people lose moral knowing that a 1st founding chapter got BTFO, etc.). in that case the real uncucked fists could still be killing aliums all the way into 40k.

but like i said that would be hard to do and probably isnt the case

>>
>>44929336
You're not supposed to. You think they would've killed them off in the first book if you were supposed to have meaningful attachment? how does abbadon keep escaping

on a related note the IoM needs to have cool grimdark prisons where it keeps heretics and demons so they dont just reform in the warp after you kill them

Chaos hijinks. The Gods make his body explode, and remake him a new body for his soul to use. Or something like that.
>>
>>44929679
Grey Knights do have a prison where they keep Daemons on Titan. It's very hard to capture one though especially the more powerful ones.

Mortal Chaos servants don't reincarnate so there's no point. They'd just corrupt the guards and start an uprising.

>>
>>44929869
And that is why he has no arms. The Gods aren't smart enough to make arms that can't fall off. On a serious note as long as Abaddon is useful, the Gods will bring Lord Topknot back. If he's really in trouble, he'd probably off himself knowing he'll just come back.

Swallow's Blood Angels Tetralogy has the Blood Angels be nearly wiped out thanks to the genetic manipulations of Fabius Bile and Tzeentch exploiting their gene-seed flaw, i.e. the Black Rage and Red Thirst. A conclave of all the Blood Angels Successor chapters is called together to decide what aid can be given to the chapter. Dante wants a portion of initiates and Scouts tithed from the successors to the Blood Angels to rebuild their numbers. Seth of the Flesh Tearers suggests instead that the Blood Angels should disband into the Successors, them being so few. Dante says that no First Founding chapter has ever been wiped from history, but Seth counters that it has.

Look to the future.

>Book 3: The Emperor Expects
That grand armada finally goes to fight the Orks, and that one Admiral, or maybe it's the Assassin, is on the cover.

>Book 4: The Last Wall
The Orks actually besiege Terra, and the Iron Warriors are wiped out entirely. Also, the Fist Successor chapters gather in Phall, probably to dissolve what remains of the Fists and divest the Chapter of its assets until the Fists Exemplar take over.

>Book 5: Throneworld
Orks still besiege Terra, Eldar show up. More side character stories like in Book 2, showing the Imperium teaming up with "others" to fight the Beast in the areas it's attacking.

According to Lexicanum, the high lords vangorich are gonna kill will probably be:

>Udin Macht Udo - Lord Commander of the Imperium and Chairman of the Senatorum
>Lansung - Lord High Admiral of the Imperial Navy and the most powerful High Lord
>Wienand - Inquisitorial Representative
>Heth - Lord Commander Militant of the Imperial Guard
>Juskina Tull - Speaker for the Chartist Captains
Tobris Ekharth - Master of the Administratum
>Mesring - Ecclesiarch
>Abdulias Anwar - Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica
>Kubik - Fabricator General of the Adeptus Mechanicus
>Helad Gibran - Paternoval Envoy of the Navis Nobilite
>Vernor Zeck - Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites
>Volquan Sark - Master of the Astronomican

The canadians weren't even involved. It was a few regiments of British redcoats.

The laughable part is the horrible defense - maybe two hundred militiamen, all placed in horrible positions by a politician who wanted to play general, who all up and ran the moment they started getting beat, leaving their capital undefended.

I remember a screencap - I can't find the file without some serious searching - where a guy on /tg/ looked at the High Lords of Terra as being a bunch of scared men, knowing they had the power to destroy planets at the whim of their actions or mistakes, stuck on a sinking ship they didn't know how to steer and being told to keep it afloat. His death happened after the 1st Black Crusade (781.M31), but of course 7th Edition decided that his remains were never found.

That other anon is full of bullshit. The Scouring has long been over (it started sometime around 15.M31). Abaddon reared his ugly head again in the 1st Black Crusade. The Beast is rising up in 544.M32 - the 2nd Black Crusade only comes about 30 years later. Chaos is a legitimate threat. The problem seems to be that for some reason the rest of the Imperium has forgotten that they're not safe somehow, especially the Segmentum Solar.

>The problem seems to be that for some reason the rest of the Imperium has forgotten that they're not safe somehow, especially the Segmentum Solar.
