How come Tau can get BTFO'd by pariahs?
>>
>>44755349
this assassin was playing his mix tape.
>>
>>44755349
Tau have a warp presence, just very very small
>>
>>44755349
>how come niggers can still get radiation poisoning
>>
>>44755657
They can't though, someone's lying to you.
>>
>>44756151
I'm pretty sure if you lock Jamarcus in a nuclear reactor for a few minutes he's not going to come out very healthy.
>>
>>44755349
Pariahs are unnatural. Ungodly. Everything hates them.
>>
THEY CANT FIGHT IN MELEE

Story with the picture
>>
>ywn be doomguy rippin' and tearing blueberries with your very presence.
>>44755349
because GW realized that blueberries needed some comeuppance.
>>
Because of the difference between a Blank and a Pariah. Blanks don't have a warp presence at all, and would be very unsettling to be around for an Eldar or a Human psyker but probably indistinguishable from a normie to a regular Human or a Tau.
Pariahs have anti-souls. Literally any living thing (and also daemons) will be terrified of being near them. Think like that scene early in the Fellowship of the Ring movie, where the Ringwraith is tracking Frodo and Sam in the woods and they're hiding under a log. Even the insects are freaking out and trying to get away from the wraith, because it's just fundamentally wrong.
>>
>>44755349
tau are not completely soulless, they are tau level on the scale of psychic presence and perception, still above soulless beings.
>>
I wasn't aware that space pope died.
Good riddance. Maybe we can have Aun'Shi back, now.

>>44755349
The animus speculum doesn't need a warp presence to affect the target.
However, why the fuck send a culexus instead of an eversor? That's a fucking waste of ressources.
>>
>>44756437
Literally the same thing. Pariahs do not have anti souls. Just no soulsq. Culexes have learned to focus their lack of soul into a no soul lazer.
>>
>>44756510
Culexes was probobly in the area.

For obvious reasons eversors take longer to deploy, needing to be concentrated in a small number of facilities with the neccesary status equipment. This travel time is longer. It is also possible getting to the place would have needed subtlety. However assuming logistical problems preventing an eversor deployment a culexes is the worst choice of the 4 others anyway, you're right there.
>>
>>44756437
>Because of the difference between a Blank and a Pariah
Gonna need a source on that, sine everything I've seen in codexes, novels or ffg stuff points to them being the same thing.
I don't think people with Sigma to Psi psychic level have a special name in the fluff.

They did. He was felled by Farsight. Each temple had it's chance.
Only Culexus prevailed.
>>

They are Tau, they could get BTFO's by sneezes.

But Aun'Shi has been back for years?
>>
Because Culexus are still imperial assassins.
>>
>>44756247

Don't do this, this is how (bethesda) super mutants are made.
>>
They probably tried to negotiate with the assassin.
>>
>>44760550
Looking at the track record of the Tau,this is probably what happened. These idiots are so naive.
>>
>>44756510
>why not send the assassin that can go trough walls as if they weren't there and make everyone else fall in uncontrollable spasms and endless terror
Who knows?, a true mystery indeed.
>>
Because regardless of how bland and small Tau warp presence is they still have souls. Pariahs are WRONG on every level and have fucky powers as a result, these are AMPLIFIED by the things equipment. Pariahs are legit the most horrifying thing the imperium uses.
>>
>>44764242
I wonder if the necrons have some sort of plan involving the pariahs. It seems all too convenient. Having no presence in the warp would make pariahs vulnerable to corruption from the C'tan, would it not?
>>
The Tau have small souls. They should be affected to a lesser extent than humans but they will be affected nonetheless.

The Culexus head device amps the pariah effect to the extreme making what should be a mild disgust into crippling horror and pain.
>>
>>44756294
Man the story paints such a different depiction of the man in the chair. In the picture, he looks like he's about to deck a bitch for taking a fat psychic shit in his house.
>>
>>44764466
Are you a newfag? The C'tan implanted the Pariah gene into humanity in the oldcron lore. Oldcrons used to harvest Pariahs and turn them into Necron Pariahs.

Nowadays Necron Pariahs don't exist and except for Szeras, Newcrons don't give a fuck about them.

Before Newcrons, Pariahs were explicitly "the next phase of the C'tan's ideal for the galaxy".
>>
>>44764466
Knowing the mechanicus, they are probably stolen memories or ideas from necron tech.

Somewhere on mars, there is a room with the exact recipe for all the terrible shit that was done to create the first few, but it is probably in the data vaults so close to the core the other abominations down there would make you want to stick your head in a microwave before getting past level 5.

Future of the Necrons.png

>>44764542
You always omit stuff.

They were stated also to be the future of the Necron race itself. Implication that that the Pariahs will replace the Necrontyr Necrons.

The important question of the day is why the Pariahs have crippling effect of horror and agony on anything connected to the Warp while the soulless Necrons don't. Necrons only have an aura of dread that unnerves the living and psykers but it doesn't cause them to drop dead like pariahs.

GW never explained this.
>>
>>44756510
Because the Eversor was busy being useful and they had a Culexus laying around not doing anything.
>>
>>44764690
Because Necrons have no souls. Pariah have fucked up souls.
>>
>>44765730
It's sounds like while neurons have a soul score of zero, pariahs actively force down other souls towards zero.
>>
>>44765730
Both have no souls, according to the fluff.
>>
>>44765730
I presume a soulless living thing is different than a glorified robot.
>>
>>44766402
>glorified robot

They are android bodies with the essences and minds of beings animating them.

What makes a body of flesh different than a body of Necrodermis?
>>
>>44766499
Teleportation, being made of 'living metal', fuck knows how many millions of years old, and beep boop.
>>
>>44764540
>Expecting any xenos, especially one of the Tau, to do something that awesome
>>
>>44766520
I am sure living bodies have their advantages too but in the end of the day both are vessels for living beings consciousnesses.

The pariah effect seems to be end when a pariah dies. This implies it's linked to the consciousness/thought processes of the Pariah. Are humans minds more suited to make them soulless monsters than Necrontyr minds? Seems so.
>>
>>44766578
Necrons don't have souls, but they do have what are at least copies of their minds. The C'tan ate their souls then they underwent biotransference into their metal bodies.

This reminds me of a thread I saw a while back involving the Imperium saying hello to the Tau the only way the Imperium knows how.

It involved assassins and space marines, tried to find it, but it doesn't look like I bookmarked it, can anyone point me in the right direction?

>>
>>44766578
I think it's similar to the uncanny valley effect, but through the warp rather than sight. A computer intelligence without a soul is a little unsettling, but a living being without one, that's kind of a weird organic chinese room, and it affects people through the warp a whole more.

Honestly, it was more amusing how he got inside the bunker.
>>
>>44768012
How did he?

If I had to guess, I'd say walking calmly in or delivered via specialised artillery shell. Either extreme seems like it would fit
>>
>>44768020

Inside a Devilfish, pressed in a corner. The Firewarriors inside didn't notice him, but they had a creeping feeling of dread during the whole time he was inside alone with them.
>>
>>44767858
yes they do
>>
>>44768065
Nice.
>>
>>44764690
They don't have no soul they have a negative soul normal souls link to the warp and emit warp energy emotions - like a low level telepathically field
Pariahs are like a whirlpool instead sucking in that warp power
That's how culexus can use their speculum- it amplifies their sucking abilities try and then releases it as a blast
In the ravenor book a low level pariah was burnt out by an emerging daemon - so it's not an absence it just seems that way like a black hole isn't an absence
>>
>>44767858
Yes, C'tan do eat souls

The C'tan do eat souls but you have to understand that souls are a general shock value commodity in 40k writing. Meaning eating souls isn't really special, nor is it chaos only.

Also C'tan can basically eat anything and everything that can be turned into material energy, if they have the means to do it. That and you also need to know that in in 40k the soul seem to be the ultimate source of power, the ultimate PRECIOUSSS thing.
>>
>>44756931
they send multiple assassin in the same story. also an eversor and a vindicare to different target.
>>
>>44767858
They do, flesh is fine, too.
>>
>>44767858
yes they can eat souls
>>
>>44768266
A black hole is still a stelar body.
>>
>>44768482
Aren't souls the reflections of mortal minds IN the Warp?
>>
>>44768588
In a weird sort of way. The soul is both the reflection and the bit which casts a reflection. The soul exists unto itself, but it's still by nature tied to the Warp.

Souls are not, however just the result of a mind, since it's possible both for thinking beings to be soulless and for mindless beings to have souls.
