I can't tell how much of elves is Tolkien.
When I was a kid, elves were either small garden spirits (like gnomes, but more slender and elusive), or Father Christmas' helpers who made my presents.
Pointy ears are neat though.

Tolkien, probably - the only elves who had facial hair were old as balls.
The ears are a bit silly, but what bothers me most about that girl is the eye-liner. Wash that crap off your eyes, random internet-girl, it does not look good on you (or anyone).

That's not actually true: Mahtan (Feanor's father in law), for instance, had a beard at a relatively young age.
But it is true that facial hair was extremely rare for them.
