Could a street magician sneak into Wizard school and actually learn anything if he reads the right books?
>>
Probably not. If a convenient "magic for dummies" book existed it'd either be given out easily to prospective students or destroyed to maintain a monopoly, so the school probably contains mostly technical manuals that don't make any damn sense without knowing the basics or having a teacher. And being good at stage magic doesn't mean he has the extreme intelligence/genes/spark/gift/whatever that a lot of settings require for actual magic.

Most likely not. But he still can pretend to study and pass the exams with bluff, deceptions and distractions. He's a street magician, it just screams that his Bluff/Sleight of Hand/whatever else are through the roof.

Real magic? no.

But he could become the best bluffomancer.

Essentially it is all psychological and convinces people you cast a spell. If you suceed on bluff/perform/etc they are affected appropriately.

Bonuses/penalties given depending on whether you know the actual somatic and verbal components, using focuses and stuff, also whether the target does.

This, I'd love to play the normie in hogwarts who gets through all the classes by cheating.

Yes, in fact rogues can pretty easily pick up a few cantrips.
Anything more than that requires more intense study.

>>44414045
Probably.

The trick is finding the book that won't flay his soul and use his essence to add a few extra pages.

Now I want to make something around that now. Th-thanks.

IT'S AN ILLUSION
>>
>>44414045
depends on the setting

"Please come to the front of class and make this vase float."

And you are out. You dont have a prepared stage, you dont have time to prepare one in front of everyone and there's no reason you'd need to. Teachers are probably aware of cheating in a different level (students trying to use spells in place of their friends so they can all pass), so that wont be easy peasy.

And this sort of situation would happen everyday in many classes.

But you did so well on your tests!

As far as the teachers are concerned, you're brilliant at theory but awful at practice. Consult your parents (who eould presumably be in on it all), and you can get out of a lot. It'd be very difficult, given, but not impossible.

Hell, they might even 'diagnose' you with some special snowflake syndrome about why you're a brilliant mind but wands don't like you or magic energy is negated by you.

A kid with no magic potential who's pureblood parents expect great things bluffs so well his parents sign him up for Wizard Ivy League. Things keep snowballing and shenanigans ensue.

Depends on the setting.

Go fuck yourselves.
>>
>>44425229
It really does though. The setting adds so many variables that the OP's question is rendered entirely meaningless. Example:

>Forgotten Realms
Yes, easily. Anyone can do magic if they are willing and able to learn.

>Harry Potter
No. Magic is something you are born with.
>>
>>44425229
no ;)

but also what >>44425399 said. there IS a good reason why people say, especially for shit like this
